I’m order for it to read the magnetic (MICR) line/numbers they need to be rubbed with a magnet to be read. This device will tell you that the magnetic fields are transferring to the numbers so you know if it is magnetic (MICR) ink. The UV light can be stronger but works for my application just fine . Definitely beats buying a $300+ check reader .
