Volkman Avian Science Super Parrot Bird Food 8lb

I, and most importantly my CAG (Congo African Grey) likes it. Packing is excellent with a zip-lock top. I have a plastic container I keep my bird food in so I opened the bag and poured the entire bag into my container. The first thing I noticed is that there was NO DUST! This is good. There is lots of variety with this product and with no food dyes found in most parrot mixes I see. Quality is obvious as soon as you see and feel the bag. My parrot is a picky eater and seems to not pick out as much from this mixture. I'm also impressed with the ingredients and feel better knowing he's getting a more nutritional diet. I still believe Harrison's pellets are the best nutritional choice, but my picky eater refuses to eat them. I will purchase this product again because it's the best alternative from all of the other junk out there. Please don't give your parrot foods that look colorful. They have dye in them, which is not good for your feathered friend. I purchased this along with Volkman Birdeez Buffet (soak & serve), which is a hit with my picky eater and will be buying that again, as well. Also great quality.

I switched from Abba parrot to this Volkmans mix about a month ago for my 30 y.o. B&G. One motivation was the declining quality and difficulty of finding a fair price for the Abba. Primarily I wanted the lower fat of the light sunflower seed as she gets older. I must stress that seed mix generally should not make up much more than 25% of a birds diet. I call it McDonalds for parrots, junk food. The reality however is that parrots love the stuff and it makes them happy cracking and crunching it all. She transitioned to the new mix, problem free. The product was pest free with low dust content. I suggest freezing all bird feed upon receipt for a few days to kill off larvae and eggs. If your bird doesn't like a particular feed mix be fair in your review. They are no less picky than us. It's like slamming an entire restaurant because just one dish was not to your liking

The food was great the first bag but the second bag looks like wild bird food. Absolutely no dried fruit in the second bag. I won't buy again.

While it's not perfect, it's better than most other seed brands I have found on the market. I wish it were certified organic or would at least have a non-GMO label. I remove the corn and peanuts because both are prone to mold, which might not always be visible, and I also have to assume the corn is GMO, which almost all non-organic corn grown in the US is. When I gave my parrot another seed brand because my Amazon order arrived late, she initially rejected it and didn't want to eat her seed. She was visibly sad. She obviously likes her Volkman seed.

I am more appreciative of theVolkman product now more than ever as I was traveling I tried some Kaytee parrot food and OMG IT WAS colorless, loaded with peanuts and sunflower seeds and just looked and smelled stale with the VOLKMAN . Super parrot I like to mix an even amount of the super Macaw. It gives such a better variety and the best of both worlds as my Macaw loves everything in this mix. Well, of course you know Macaw’s yeah they’ll throw it and they’ll push it around but there’s no reason to throw it away scoop it back up and give it to them again because she’ll go through it a second time and take what she wants and a little bit of dirt won’t hurt because don’t they have a gizzard that requires a little bit of sand or dirt to help crush their food, so Volkman all the way stay away from Kaytee

My parrot loves these and I mix with pellets that are for my eclectus it’s just as important to feed our love ones with quality products, I’m so glad I can order from Amazon because where I live they have been unable to get this product at the 2 pet stores since the pandemic, so thank you

Our birds are very healthy, this is the best bird food on the market. And has the best nutritional blend there is.

Unfortunately, my parrot doesn’t like this food. It looks fresh, and I’m sure it’s a good product, but she won’t eat it.
