No, I believe the spinning doesn't allow it to burn and starts forming the thin cotton candy floss.

Is there a dome cover somewhere for this one?

Is there a band that you can put on the inside of machine to gather cotton candy

No band not aware of what that is exactly... But I can tell you this it works super Good! Love it hadn't had no problems yet other than the fact that they sent me some bend up stand that holds the machine... But yea so far so good! I use it for the very first time on the 4th of July of this year. Love how it kept the kids Happy!!! I would recommend! Thumbs up #enjoy

I have an issue with mine. The cotton candy floss blows upward instead of spinning out towards the rim. Any suggestions?

The dome will help but the cotton candy doesn't stick to the sides the way it does with a pro machine you will have to gather as it comes out rather than building up and rolling onto a cone like you would with a more advanced machine.
