Solid.
REALLY, really wanted to love Rock Solid. I have loved all of Rileys previous stories. And I was excited for something new and fresh. But I feel a tiny bit let down. Maybe I was expecting too much? maybe I'm holding her previous characters on too high of a pedestal? I'm not sure. But something feel off with the story, the characters and the connection. I loved the plot between it. Trevor being an addict. Simon being a surgeon and with the tragedy that happened to his hand, he may never be able to perform surgeries again. The concept was great and promising. I just did not feel like Simon was gay. I knew he was bi, but I just didn't get the connection for him as much as I got it for Trev. Trev was great. In some parts the story felt overly rushed and then some parts I felt like there wasn't enough. I felt like the two were really great friends and not too much more. At about 80-90% it started to change for me and I felt the connection more. And then I was really getting into it and loved the last 10-20% of the book. There is a major twist that I didn't see coming and I was in shock and that changed the story around for me. I started to feel more and love more. Some of the intimate scenes I felt were rushed also and didn't feel a strong connection or bond there. Although they were hot, just didn't do it for me. Overall the story was pretty good, the characters were pretty decent. Didn't LOVE Simon. The guy has some issues, but he grew on me more towards the end and once he admitted his feelings and actually showed he gave a damn about Trevor. I hope there is more or even a Blake story. I would and will continue to read and give everything Riley has, a try. It wasn't my favorite. But it wasn't horrible by any means and I'm sure others will love it. But I would still recommend this story to everyone."You think you took my life from me, too, but you didn't.. you gave me one."

Raw and emotional
This is a pretty hard review for me, not because I didn't love this book but because I did. I just now finished it and feel completely overwhelmed and raw with emotion. When I read a book with addiction as a focus I'm always skeptical. I'm a recovering addict with 17 years clean so I'm pretty leery of how a book can miss the mark when it comes to this topic. While some of the details were not quite there the feelings of an addict were; the shame, guilt, remorse, regret, self-loathing and insecurities, were quite accurate. I may no longer have anything more than a fleeting thought of using Trevor's story reminded what the beginning was like. The gut wrenching feelings of inadequacy, undeserving of happiness and being nothing more than someone who screws everything up, that is real and someone who is not an addict cannot understand how difficult it is to overcome those feelings. I think the reason Simon did understand was because his addiction was his work, it was being the best in his field and then it was gone and he felt he was left with nothing. The two are not quite the same but similar enough for a mutual understanding of each other's battle within. Trying to figure who they were after being defined as someone else for so long, as humans we are forever evolving and Riley gave us that part of Trevor and Simon in a gritty yet elegant way.Even though much of what recovery truly is was left out, there was still enough to make me feel like that person just walking into the rooms for the first time. These emotions are going to stick with me for awhile. I would definitely put a trigger warning on this, not because it would make someone relapse but because it could send someone into the emotional rabbit hole we struggle so hard to stay out of.

Hot Rock Solid
This was a really good book, and the cover is hot as hell. Trevor Dixon has made a lot of mistakes in his life he has been clean for 13 months. Trevor has a twin brother Blake and together they start a construction company Rock Solid. Trevor goes to give an estimate on a remodel of a house owned by Dr. Simon Malone and it doesn't go so well. A hand injury took away the most important thing in Simon's life the ability to perform surgery and he is bitter and angry about it. When Trevor shows up to look at his house he cuts himself and Simon thinks he is not capable of doing the job. This was a very good book they start out as friends Trevor is up front about being gay and he believes that Simon is straight. Each of the MC's give each other something that the other was missing hope, neither one of them know how to be friends Simon because his career always came first even in his marriage to Heather and Trevor because of his drug and alcohol addiction his using buddies were his friends. This book was really emotional at times Trevor who has to learn to live his life without using, which is really hard for people in there first year or so in recovery. I commend the author for writing the book this way because it is not always easy for me personally when I first got clean I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop so to speak and dealing with people that you have hurt while using can also be even harder. This book was very well written with no errors in grammar or spelling the sex scenes were hot. This was my first time reading this author, but not my last. I was so glad that Simon never gave up on Trevor even when they discovered that they have a really big thing in common. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Relate
I could personally relate to this book, so it was very hard to read. Losing my mother, step-mom and a having a sister who struggles with drugs and alcohol made it a very true story. I can assure you Riley Hart nailed this book, from the family’s interactions, to the international struggles of the abuser. There were a few parts that almost broke me and one particular part I actually yelled no and started to cry. That’s how emotional I was with this book. This book was really good and a definite read.

I wanted to love this book so much but I'm soooo disappointed
I wanted to love this book so much but I'm soooo disappointed. It was addiction; recovery; injury; being brow beaten by family members; self flagellation; lather, rinse, repeat.Pages and pages of repetitive self loathing monologue from both characters. So many times I wished Blake and their mum would stop emotionally beating Trevor up.I get that he messed up, several times, horrendously, but I just wanted everyone to cut him some slack. He was trying soooo hard, he was doing everything he can to prove to them that he's changed but it was just never enough.Rather than supporting him they were just waiting for him to screw up.I really liked Trevor but Simon was such hard work. I really wanted him to get over himself.I didn't 'get' them as a couple to start with. They were hot together but I didn't feel the connection.I warmed to Simon and to them together as the book went on, but I didn't love them. The story regarding Simon's hand was such a massive part of the book and then there was this big (completely unrealistic and unbelievable) reveal/plot twist and then it was neatly swept under the carpet. This book definitely wins the prize for the cheesiest/most vomit inducing ending I've ever read:'They walked out together, knowing that for the first time in their lives, everything was rock solid'Bleugh.

One Of Riley's Best
This book has so much depth it had me totally hooked. Trevor gave up drugs and alcohol 18mths ago and is trying sooooo very hard to stay on the straight and narrow. He has a mum and brother who adore him, and he wants to deserve all the faith they have in him. He starts working for the construction firm he co-owns with his brother Jason who is the main man. When he goes to size up a job they hope to get, he injures his hand in a nail, he feels he may have blown their chances of getting the job. Simon who wants the work carried out was a renowned heart surgeon who was attacked by a burglar, leaving his right hand unable to function properly therefore having to give up being a surgeon, making him a bitter about life. When Jason tells Trevor that they didn't get the job, Trevor goes flying round to Simon's to confront him, telling him he is trying his hardest, and that their company will do a great job. Simon decides to give them a chance, but only if Trevor oversees the work. There begins their beautiful relationship. I love Riley's books, they always have a great story behind then, and this is no exception

Great read
Thoroughly enjoyed this book.Trevor is a 25 year old recovering junkie and alcoholic, who wants to earn back the trust of his family, whilst struggling to overcome his addictions. Together with his twin brother, Blake, he runs Rock Solid Construction. Asking his brother to trust him Trevor goes to try and secure a house renovation job.Simon is a 37 year old heart surgeon, who feels that his life is over following a house invasion that resulted in his hand being damaged. With an ex-wife trying to get him to open up and go back to work even if he can't perform heart surgery anymore, Simon leaves San Fransisco and buys a run down property in Rockford Hills. After giving a bad first impression Trevor returns to Simon's house, persuading him to give Rock Solid Construction a chance.Despite Simon's inability to maintain relationships on any level and Trevor's struggle to stay away from the alcohol and drugs, the two men form an unlikely friendship. But will they find in each other the help they so desperately need to face and overcome their demons? This is a story of love, respect and family and I would thoroughly recommend it.

this is a beautiful book
MY REVIEWRock solid is a wonderful emotional story about a second chances at life for both the main characters.Trevor and Simon are great characters i liked them from the start, Trevor more so i think he was so strong yet had a vulnerable side that made him so very likable. Both men are struggling to find acceptance, friendship and love but through some ups and downs they manage to find all three with each other, Simon also finds a family something that hes has not really had before. What did grate on my nerves a little was the fact that Blake (Trevor's twin) and his mom always thought the worst of Trevor never giving him the kind of support he got from Simon. I understand it must be hard for you to trust an addict after events that must have happened, but surly they could have given him a bit more support, hes family. This is a real easy read the words flow well and the plot has enough to keep you encased in the story until the very last page where you really feel Simon and Trevor's connection.Riley Hart does M/M romance well, this is a beautiful book.

heartbreaking
Finished reading this book late last night Trevor Dixon is learning to live again whilst fighting demons from his past. Him and his twin brother Blake run Rock Solid Construction and bid for a new contract but things don't go well and they are turned down. Travis not happy with this goes back to see Dr Simon Malone and gets him to change his mind.Dr Simon Malone is a heart surgeon and following an attack his left contemplating what to do with his life as he can no longer operate. The friendship that Trevor and Simon build helps them both learn to live and move forward but not without its bumps and twists. Unbeknown to them both their lives have be intwined before go get a copy you won't be disappointed. Xx

Compelling; heart wrenching; heart warming...and SEXY!!!
Another really good tale from Riley Hart. The thing I love most about her books is her ability to create such interesting characters that stay with you long after the last page. In this one Trevor and Simon are so captivating for so many good reasons and their dynamic has just enough angst to tantalise the reader right to he very end. Their journey was engaging and compelling and the sex of course was hot and suitably vivid. I loved how the story just gathered speed with every chapter and I found myself holding my breath on more than one occasion. Looking forward to the next book in the series. Well done Riley on another fab read.

Rewarding
A good book, a good read. Trevor and Simon though? LOL I can't find the right word to describe what I felt for this book. Trevor had such a hard time getting anyone to actually believe in him and Simon gave him a chance which he grabbed with both hands. It must be incredibly hard to get your life back on track after such a bad start, and people are waiting for you to fail. Trevor didn't fail. The boy done good.

LAYING THE FOUNDATIONS
I did not have great expectations of this book. I thought that it would be a typical opposites attract tale, short on story and long on sex. How wrong I was was. Yes there is sex in it but it does not dominate the story. This is about two men whose lives have gone wrong. I am not going to spoil the tale for you. Buy it and read it I am sure you will not regret it.
