A Satisfying Mixed Bag of Eberron
Rise from the Last War is a great book for anyone wanting to play in an Eberron campaign or who has always been curious about the setting. The updates to the races are exactly what the fans expected and wanted. The removal of warforged subraces was a little disappointing, but I’m satisfied with what we got. There is enough variety with the shifter subraces that it’s not too difficult to create your own to incorporate any theme you feel is missing. The improvement of the orc is most welcome, especially as someone who has never liked the default evil savages they are depicted as in other settings. A finalized, printed version of the artificer is wonderful, and I hope to see future artificer subclasses make their way into Unearthed Arcana playtest material at some point this year. Not everything is perfect though, as the monsters and locations could do with being fleshed out some more for anyone who doesn’t own previous edition setting books. There is more than enough here to make this book worth picking up, especially if you’re wanting to run an Eberron campaign, but having individual elements of the setting fleshed out more would be helpful. Material is available through DMs Guild, but an official book in the vein of the Sword Coast Adventurers Guild would be most appreciated.

Excellent variant from "traditional" D&D setting
I love this book. I think it's a real masterpiece, both in terms of content and layout. If you're looking for new ideas for your classic high medieval fantasy or LOTR inspired D&D campaign, this probably isn't for you. If you're looking for a well imagined, deeply realized, nuanced very alternate D&D setting, this will inspire and amaze you. There's lots here to love. I especially enjoyed the Eberron take on the races of D&D, particularly the goblinoids and the halflings. It really re-imagines magic, the multiverse and provides a deeper take on society and social roles for characters to inhabit. Eberron is a lot more gray in terms of good and evil, and a vivid place to set your campaign. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to make a shift from the Forgotten Realms/Greyhawk type campaign worlds. It's a lot more than a "one-off," and it doesn't disappoint.

Eberron for 5e
This book is probably one of the best WOTC products for 5e. It is a true setting sourcebook, providing setting information and practical advice for crafting adventures in Eberron. The level of setting info is particularly rare amongst 5e products which have lately focused their page count on player options and mechanics as well as providing long adventures instead of providing useful setting information and story hooks (see Dragonlance and Spelljammer as examples of this). That deficiency is not the case in Eberron: Rising from the Last War. There are descriptions with adventurer hooks for numerous locations in the continent of Khorvaire and short sections on other continents and locales in the world of Eberron. There is a good player section with mechanics for Eberron character and a significant amount of setting information. If you just let your players read the first few chapters of the book they will have all the setting info they need for a satisfying experience in Eberron. The bestiary isn’t bad either. I always think there could be more monsters though. The flip side of this is that all of the work to create an adventure is on the DM. This is not an “out of the box” adventure. It is a setting book. There are plenty of story hooks and villains provided that can be used to create adventures. Other adventures can be adapted to the setting fairly easy with several like Ghosts of Saltmarsh, Princes of the Apocalypse, and others having notes on how to use them in multiple settings including Eberron. The plus side of this exclusively being a setting book is that it has significant longevity. You can still use your Eberron book regardless of the edition of DnD you are playing. When the new core book versions come out in 2024 this book will remain relevant to anyone planning to use the Eberron setting in the future.

Great addition to 5e
Great addition to the 5e system, lots of new classes. Well worth adding to the collection. Got a little water damage at delivery due to rain, but the book is OK, the content itself is great. My group has several players using the classes added in this expansion.

This book has a lot of content. It has so much more than the synopsis says. It comes with a huge map of the continent of Khorvaire, and behind it, the WHOLE WORLD of Eberron. It has updates on all of the common races in the PHB and some other books, and has (now officialized) Changelings, Kalashtar, Shifters and the Warforged. It also has the new Artificer class (the reason I bought this book). A lot of unique items (some very interesting symbiotic ones), Campaign guides, terrain guides, and many new ideas on how to set up a Campaign in the world (mainly Khorvaire). And to top it off, it has the group patron, which adds a new interesting mechanic to the game, but, the best thing I found, was the draconic marks. Damn are they freaking nice. I was making a Warlock to play on my new campaign, and these add so much more possibilities (and they aren't limited by class, race or W/E). Basically, new subclasses for daaaays. And I've seen this all by being with the book in less than 2 hours. There's much more I haven't seen, of that I am certain of. I really recommend this book, if you've still not understood my message.
