Will history repeat itself
I was able to visit a couple of the camps mentioned, and I can truly state that if you a are still and listen quietly, you can hear the people crying and calling to you.I was struck by the strength shown by some that survived of how clear and concise they were in telling you the story of their lives and of their awestruck will to live and tell!! Some that I met, were in wonder that they and not a camp-mate were spared.I truly don't know how to express myself here except to say, please read the books that are out there on this subject and learn what others before us experienced thru no fault of their own but because someone else didn't like their skin color, their religious beliefs, their support of a party line that didn't align with theirs,or just because they don't understand empathy,or the concept of unity. This could conceivably happen again!---P/

Horrific murders of Jews...
The most horrific crimes done to the Jewish people, and other nationalities as well, were the most inhuman way to treat another human being. There are people out in the world that deny the Holacust ever happen. How can anyone deny this happening when they were not there to witness the horrors that went on in the concentration camps. My heart goes out to Mrs. Newman, and her family. I am so sorry you, and your family, had to be subjected to such awful treatment.Anyone that believes in GOD knows that he created all of us, so why are certain nationalities and races singled out to be treated differently from one another? After reading this book, I am thankful that I live in America where there is freedom and no Adolf Hitler.Dianna,Prescott, AZ.

I haven’t even completed the book but was compelled to write a review.
I don’t know if anybody has apologized to Judith and her family for all they suffered. Suffered! We need to call it torture for what they endured. I can only express my immense sorrow for what they were forced to go through. I am also very Sorry for what these CREATURES did to you. You cannot call them people or humans so the language is the best I can do. God Bless you for having survived all of it; and then reliving it to write the book. I can only admit, I couldn’t have done it. I am truly sorry. Please understand I am not sorry FOR you as much as I am immensely sorry for what you have endured. The human spirit is amazing for what it can endure. But NO spirit should ever, EVER AGAIN be forced to be tortured in any way and certainly not in the manner such as was described.

Gripping
This book relived the horrors endured by millions of Jews held in Nazi concentration camps. I was drawn to this book because it was written by a fellow Rhode Islander and promised to be a no holds barred account of the terror Jewish people lived in and with. My heart broke repeatedly as I read her accounting and swelled with pride at what the USA was able to give to her upon her arrival. At the end of the book she prays that Americans never take their freedom for granted and ends with “God Bless America” ... I echo her sentiments.

Doesn't seem authentic
This book was written asv though she was simply regurgitating what others had written about Aschwitz. At one part of the book, she declared that her legs were paralyzed and couldn't walk for six months. We've all read enough horror about this place to know that nobody would be permitted to live for six months if unable to walk and work. There was absolutely no pity for any prisoner; no passes. And also in other sections of the book, she called block elders, "block eldest". Everyone who was there knows what they were called. In summary, I find this book not to be authentic.

Truly heartbreaking first hand accounts of torture and survival.
My dad worked for Mrs. Newman on her Egg Farm in Rhode Island back in the 70's. She was a wonderful woman with a kind heart considering what she lived through in her younger years. She gave my dad an autographed copy of her book: In the Hell of Auschwitz. This book is very detailed and graphic on the accounts she witnessed and live through. May she rest in peace and her family be proud of her accomplishments.

How on earth did she survive this!..the most detailed account I've read on auschwitz. Horrible times..
I've read approximately 200 or more books about the holocaust and various concentration camps and survivors. Many told of the horrible things that happened to them and how they somehow survived. I've never read a book like this that describes the horror and pain suffered in such detail that I actually cringed reading her descriptions of things that she and others endured at auschwitz. Absolutely the most detailed of the happenings of Auschwitz. This book should be made into a movie..

A young nurse who survived to tell the story of her experiences in Auschwitz
A unique story of a young nurse in Auschwitz. As many of the other reviews pointed out, it is an exceptionally detailed description of the reality of Auschwitz not only from the author's point of view as a prisoner, but, also from her unique point of view as an observer of thousands of other prisoners who she met as patients in the Auschwitz "hospital" (if such a horrible place can be referred to as hospital). This is also a story of love between her and her sister and between her and her fiance who arrived in Auschwitz with her. Touching, moving, very well written, and highly recommended.

Must read
It's a tragic story from a survivor. People should give this a read to get an idea of what happened at concentration camps.
