Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess

Many chess puzzles that will improve your concept. Good for beginners with a unique concept. And also there is no problem of upside and downside pages as it is the way the book was designed.

It's a great step to start with this book for chess. It's easy to understand and most importantly it teaches you to think.P.S. people who are complaining about book being upside down on the left side as "misprint" should read instructions because that's exactly how the book was written. Maybe it was because of Bobby's unconventionality to actually make it comfortable to read and write because of right side.

Lots of printing errors...there should be a pawn next to black queen in first pic which is missed.Lots of such mistakesSmaller pictures are very badly printedBUT..Bobby had been amazing. The idea of reversing and continuing the book is simple and mindblowing!

The media could not be loaded.  I have ordered this book for my kids for learning chess, after receiving the book. 70-80 % of the pages are reverse. Also the paper quality of book is very poor like a news print quality paper. And there is no option is available for return in amazon app. So I intiated the replacement but again I have recieved the same book having reverse pages. Now this time no return/replacement is available in amazon app. One of the worst experience I would like to share for other fellow customers of the amazon. Please do not buy any items from such fraud amazon seller.

I read this book in college many years back. Recently bought it for my kids. It's a classic book that'll never go out of fashion. The lessons I'd learned then came alive again and I was surprised to find that my game has actually grown as the basic principles learned then had grown through all that time!!An excellent book that teaches basics to intermediate level stuff in a fun and easy way. The authors bring their varied expertise in chess, psychology to transform a knotty subject into a straightforward and simple one.It differs from most chess books in using pictures to slowly build the insight into the game in a step by step incremental approach.It has the right balance of strategy Vs tactics needed to pay the game proficiently.Most beginners use singles pieces until they are killed off. Many pieces are not developed or utilized.This book shows the tactical and strategic advantages of using your pieces in combinations.From humble pawns (yours or the opponents) to empty or inconvenient places on the board. It teaches you to think on your feet in any given position and muster your forces and project their might singly or in combination on your opponent.The king too is shown to be no slow poke when it comes to end games and in many cases can support the other pieces to finish the game in your favour.It does that by presenting different board positions with simple questions to increase judgement by solving.It also has short board quizzes to do check mate in 1 move (and 2, 3 or 4 moves) that is critical to finish games.By drawing on and leveraging all the things taught in the book one can enjoy and evaluate games of others as well.

Good for practising checkmates and getting a basic understanding of Chess tactics

It is an amazing book especially for beginners. It is interactive and very clear. However the page quality is not that great. The book goes all right sides first and rounds back on the left sides instead of left -rigth -left like a normal book. This was not an inconvenience though.

Le livre est en scan et ne s'affiche pas correctement sur ma liseuse. Il s'affiche en mode paysage donc les pages sont à moitié coupées et je n'ai aucune option pour le tourner. Je n'ai jamais eu ce problème même avec d'autres scans.J'achèterai sûrement la version papier du coup.

Clear and easy to follow. I am glad i stumbled upon this brilliant book.

This book is a best seller and it’s easy to see why as once you pick it up you are kept engaged continually as you make your way slowly but surely towards the goal of competency on the chessboardThe format along with all explanations required are given in a friendly and obliging way. Along with so many others I highly recommend this book.

For the mass production version, you need to read the book on the right hand page only all the way to the back cover (page 178). At that point, then you turn the book upside down and read the right page only until you hit the final page (page 334). If you are confused by the layout of the book, the page numbers are printed in the bottom right hand corner. For example, page 24 on the bottom right has an upside down page on the left side numbered 334 (final page). The answer to the image on page 24 is on page 25. This printing layout lets you work through the exercises on the right hand of the page without seeing the answer in front of you. You must turn the page to see the answer and start working on the next drill / image. The 4-star rating is because in my print, some of the images are small enough and the Black / Grey color scheme of the images made some of them a bit tricky to pick-up on at a glance. I recommend setting each image up on a chess board or set it up on a chess website to digest the position pictured.

Es besteht - nach einer Einführung zur Erklärung der Spielregeln - ausschließlich aus Aufgaben, bei denen der Schüler entweder Mattsetzen oder das Matt durch geschickte Verteidigung vereiteln muss. Dabei wird der Schwierigkeitsgrad langsam gesteigert, sodass am Ende auch komplexe Spielzüge eingeübt werden. Insgesamt wird der Blick für die Konstellation der Figuren - Angriffschancen, aber auch für Schwachpunkte deutlich geschärft. Für die Übungen genügt das Buch: es ist nicht erforderlich, die Figuren auf dem Brett nachzustellen. Daher ist ein Lernen auch nebenbei und zwischendurch möglich.
