Is there a case for it?

This comes in a plastic packet, but is not a case. I use mine for a road bike, and it fits nicely in the small section of the under-seat bike case. The kit is of high quality and the individual bits are color-code. Quite nice.

Will this work for a 7/16" nut?

It's a 1/4" drive. The same as a 1/4" socket.

Are the bits magnetic or just the ratchet head? Thanks.

Ratchet head is magnetic enough to pickup a small screw or pocket screwdriver, but not strong enough to pass through the bit. I tried a tiny Hàrbor Freight button magnet on the back, but didn't help. Could magnetize bits per You Tube, but one drop on a hard sidewalk could knock out the magnetism. Nice little tool though, my second set.
