Christiane Northrup M.D.Mother-Daughter Wisdom: Understanding the Crucial Link Between Mothers, Daughters, and Health

A Book For Woman Who Are Mother,Daughters or Both
So bought this audiobook for my friend Shelly.Once I find out her opinion on it I will contiue the review.I own the dvd and the book.I am not a mother, but I am a daughter so in that way I could relate to the book.I have yet to take the time to read the whole book it's very big.Christiane tends to have big, thick books most of them anyway.I like the stories that are included in the book her own stories as,well as other people's and medical advice here and there as well.I wasn't sure about Christiane at first her work seemed to me to focus on the older generation. My mom likes her, my mom's friend Terry,my friend Shelly likes her and now because of me my Aunt Sarah likes her as well. After seeing the dvd and reading the book here and there,as well as reading her Goddesses Never Age that came after this I became more of a Christiane fan. This book talks alot about the mother/daughter relationship. It talks about them seprately and together as well.

Good insight and advice
I recommend this book to anyone who is either a mother or a daughter. Northrup shares some great insight into the inner workings of relationships - she especially stresses health issues that may be passed on from mother to daughter - and talks about the nurture part of mothering that effects offspring. Useful information for anyone - not just women - as these same principles apply to all relationships.A little too much repetition - from one chapter to another - seemed redundant at times. Sometimes I thought I must be listening to the same CD again because she seemed to repeat edicts. But overall - very good - in fact I purchased it for my grown daughter to read as she reconciles her own mother-daughter relationship.

Wish this book had been available when I was raising my children!
Finally after having bought this remarkable book over a year ago and decided to read it to see what Dr Northrup really had to say, I realized how pertinent the information and story is not only for parents of children who no longer live at home, but for those potential grand-children that you just might have living close to you or with you. It assists in helping you understand more about yourself as her experiences are relative to you even today. It has a more complete approach than Dr. Spock as it is not a type of book that reflects the attitude of a particular social attitude at only one particular time. Read It, absorb it, consider that Dr Northrup is actually having a conversation with you and this information is especially for you. If you have children who have children, get them a copy of this book!

great news for moms and daughters
I have read many of Christianne Northrups books and have always been surprized and educated by what she writes. I was not dissappointed with Mother-Daughter Wisdom. The medical info is priceless, but the mother/daughter insights are more than informative. It releases you from some of the Mother guilt and makes you so aware of the hooks. It is enlightning to both Mother and Daughter. The poem on the last page is worth the price of the book, not to mention all the resources included in the book. I purchased one for each of my daughters, one for a good friend who has sent one to each of her daughters. It is a great book.

Very detailed and informative
My daughters and I are all currently reading. Will do a book review when we get together for our lake house vacation in July. With my daughters being daughters and mother of a daughter it is very interesting. This is not just for mothers of daughters but ALL mothers, even of sons!

A Classic
Lots of great info and wisdom. Not what I was expecting, but I think Dr. Northrup has a great perspective on women and the link between our emotions and health. She's an OB/GYN, and it's refreshing to read her perspectives, as they're quite different from all the OB/GYNs I have ever known. A great reference, it's the kind of book that you can go back to again and again. You will not be sorry you purchased it. Definitely a keeper on my bookshelf!

A Book for All Mothers and Daughters
I read this book as both the mother of a daughter and as a daughter. It offers a great perspective to both. This book is filled with gentle wisdom, insightful knowledge, and thoughtful challenges. Dr. Northrup is not afraid to answer the tough questions, occasionally questioning traditional practices in medicine. She thoughtfully discusses controversial subjects, such as vaccinating your child, discussing a mother's fears about such issues. I enjoyed her philosophical insights; she gave me much to think about! Dr. Northrup is one doctor you wish were in your HMO!

Excellent
This is a must-read for any women who has a role in the life of a young woman or girl. I don't care if you're a Mum, a grannie, an auntie, or whether you are not even related, but to help a girl really connect with herself before the world gets its oar in and starts ruining her self esteem is worth every moment spent. I am so glad I found this book while my daughters were pre-pubescent, so I can get an early start with them. Also worth reading is the 'Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom' by the same author, whose wisdom and insight is what prompted me to buy this book too.
