Nostalgia: An Evening with Annie Lennox captures one of music’s most popular and acclaimed artists in her only full concert performance of songs from her Grammy-nominated Nostalgia album. Fronting a 19-piece band – including string and horn sections – and unveiling striking lighting and production elements created especially for this concert, Lennox demonstrates her distinctive vocal and performance talents on an array of classic American standards, ranging from “Summertime,” “Georgia On My Mind”, “Strange Fruit” and “God Bless The Child” to one of rock’n’roll’s most enduring classics, “I Put A Spell On You.” As she does on her Nostalgia album that spawned this one-of-a-kind concert, the singular approach Lennox brings to these classics enables them to resonate for a 21st Century audience. The artist concludes her extraordinary show with a four-song selection of her own hits performed solo at the piano, including “Here Comes The Rain Again,” “No More I Love You’s,” “Why” and “Sweet Dreams." Beautifully filmed by director Natalie Johns at the downtown Los Angeles art-deco landmark Orpheum Theatre on January 28, 2015, this CD/DVD release provides a truly unique studio and live concert performance that music fans the world over can now experience for themselves.

she put a spell on me (along tim a ago)
let's not be victimized by amazon..if you are a true annie lennox fan you know how the music industry works. this is a re-issue of nostalgia with a dvd/blu-ray disc of her performing it live.if you'd like to hear it on your home stereo, i'd suggest spending 9.99 on i tunes, for the performance, and connect your audio to it. its perfect...i did it, and purchased the cd/blu-ray.with that being said, NOSTALGIA is an amazing collection.first: the album is such an amazing collection of songs, some have them been covered, yes, yet our diva, has controlled her voice and did not overdramatize, which, i think it makes her voice more powerful.as far as the concert, this is one of the best i've seen her perform! she's happy! she did so well! don was introduced her, simon fuller was there, her husband and both of her daughters...tali is in the intro, lola was a backup, and did beautifully harmonizing with her mother on "strange fruit"..and you can get a glimpse of annie's husband in the audience! (I'm there somewhere in the balcony;-)) over all, this was the best performance, i was lucky enough to be there, and just as you should know, there is minimal edits, it was done in one take....bravo, annie!

Brava, Annie Lennox!
This has become my "go to" music in my car and at home. The amazing Lennox voice is so completely at home with these standards. The first cut "Memphis in June" will both soothe you with nostalgia and draw you forward to the rest of the cd. Wonderful! Other standards such as "I Cover the Waterfront," "Summertime," and "Georgia on my Mind" bring you back to the classic years of American songwriting. But lest you think this is a banana cream pie of an compilation, don't miss the truth in two songs, the horrifying "Strange Fruit" and the forthrightness of "God Bless the Child." Lennox lets the words come front and center without pressing either to dramatize or reprise Billie Holliday--who could? "I Put a Spell on You" seems to be getting most of the play, but I like the mellower songs like an understated but heartfelt "September in the Rain." This may not please the avant garde rocker, but it displays a mature artist in control of her voice and confident of her mastery of materials. Buy it for almost anyone, except your 15 year old nephew or a snooty rock critic. You'll listen to it and you'll love it. Brava, Annie!

Classy DVD
If you are a fan you have to have this. I was so thrilled this came out given the fact that she did not tour.I was delighted to see some of the cuts like "I Cover the Waterfront" and "The Nearness of You". I found "I Put A Spell On You" and "You Belong to Me" a little lackluster but many of the tracks were just great. "Georgia," "God Bless the Child," "Memphis in June," "Summertime," "Strange Fruit" and "Mood Indigo" all were fantastic. As a treat Annie sat next to piano and sang a few of her hits once the "Nostalgia" set was done but the orchestra had left. Unfortunately her hits felt a little stark but I appreciated the effort.Thumbs up for the dvd menu option that allows a user to play the full concert, or jump back and forth from song to song while watching in case you want to see a specific song again.I have to admit the DVD is a nice length and I appreciate it more each time I watch it.

An Evening of Magic!
Annie's solo career has been a stunner for almost three decades, with series of amazing albums produced since 1990. When Nostalgia came out, I knew the show must go on! In addition to CD, she produced amazing live videos, that we so much enjoy on youtube. And finally, with PBS live show on BluRay, it was a dream come true. And the wait is over, I have my hands on this masterpiece, breathtaking musical production from the beginning to end! Annie's performance is powerful, sensitive and fragile. Her renditions of Georgia on My Mind, I Put a Spell on You and Memphis is June will take your breath away. Her voice is at her best ever, the orchestra is brilliant and the audience is lovely. The BluRay quality is A+, both visually and audio wise. DTS 5.1 track is so powerful that my Harman Kardon home cinema was all shaky :-)Love you Annie so much for this wonderful gift! Now, all go online and get your copy of Nostalgia!

NOSTALGIA - An Evening with Annie Lennox DVD
To make a video after the music has already been released, is taking a chance. If you are an Annie Lennox fan you will enjoy the video. I got the impression while watching the video, that it was rushed through each song to get to the end - I'm sure that there were moments that were edited out to shorten the length of the concert, I wish there was more of Annie interacting with the audience. Orchestra was spot on - would have liked to see them play the extras (Here comes the rain again / No more I love you's / Why / Sweet Dreams (Are made of this). It is always a pleasure when Annie Lennox does her magic - making Music.

Read this!!
I only gave it 3 stars because I was deceived into thinking I was getting a live audio recording (CD) of the "An Evening of Nostalgia" concert that took place in LA and that aired on PBS.. Instead, it's a two-disc set: a DVD of the PBS special, along with the original "Nostalgia" studio album.. I already have the studio album, and plan to buy the DVD separately, so I had to return this item as I simply didn't need it.. What I was hoping for was a CD (audio) recording of the live concert.. Apparently, other buyers as well were deceived into thinking they were getting an audio CD of the concert.. Just so you know what you'll be getting..

Disappointing Concert
I know it's subjective, but having seen Annie at a different (and amazing) performance, this one is just lacking to me. It appears she's unsure if the audience will like her and her choices in music - instead of just going for it. But, as I said, that's just my opinion.

A true delight!
First of all, Annie Lennox is in great voice and loving performing as she always has. I have followed her career from her 80s days with Eurythmics and she is a brilliant vocalist and performer, stylish and entertaining in her happy way. I am thrilled that she made a decision to record and perform in concert the particular songs on the Nostalgia Album, as each song is a timeless classic that welcomes just the sort of tasteful spin she can put on them to make them her own. She does just exactly that, accompanied by wonderfully talented musicians who seem to share in her joy of performing, making this watching experience a true delight. Very highly recommended!

Lounge Songs
This is a DVD of Annie Lennox singing lounge songs. I'd never heard her sing some of these songs before. It is a departure from the style that she was known for in the 1980's and 1990's. I enjoyed the DVD and will watch it again.
