Young Justice: Dangerous Secrets (DVD)

Young Justice Season 1 Part 2
For those who are more interested in watching the show and have already purchased the first three disks together or separately than you should buy this second part. I've already bought the first part: Young Justice: Season One -Volume 1, 2, and 3 so this already finished my collection of season one. I just wanted to watch the show. I don't expect any extra content like commentary or in depth analysis of Young Justice. Maybe there will be a season one box but season 2, the Invasion part 1 DVD is coming up soon on January 22, There is still no season one box. I'm not saying there will not be one but I just want to watch the show. At least all the episodes are together for part 2 than in the beginning when they were in volumes 1, 2 and three. And if you want to buy it in a full season box then you should wait. This finishes up season one of Young Justice. There are only 26 episodes. This has fourteen and the first three volumes together have twelve. The disks and the box:The box is black and on the cover are just the original members of Young Justice without Zatanna and Rocket. It's probably because they were in a few episodes. Zatanna appeared in Humanity and Rocket made cameos until Usual Suspects before they showed up in the final episodes of Season One. The box has the white light in the background which could be for many reasons: THE LIGHT, foreshadowing that the secrets will come to light, etc. It also says 14 ALL NEW ADVENTURES ON 2 Discs. There are two disks with seven episodes. Disk one is blue with Kid Flash on it. It's just a standard Kid Flash or Wally West pose. The title says: YOUNG JUSTICE DANGEROUS SECRETS Season one part two disk one. It has seven episodes: Alpha Male, Revelation, Humanity, Failsafe, Disordered, Secrets, Misplaced.Disc two is red and the cover has Robin smirking and the title says YOUNG JUSTICE DANGEROUS SECRETS SEASON ONE: part two - disc 2. It has seven episodes: Cold Hearted, Image, Agendas, Insecurity, Performance, Usual Suspects, and Auld Acquaintance.Main Menu in all the Disks is a picture of the team. From left to right: Robin, Artemis, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian, and Aqualad. Everybody looks serious and in the background is the theme of Young Justice. The main menu has all the basic buttons: Play, Episodes, Tailors, and Settings.Maybe you want to watch all the episodes, click play. It starts from the beginning of the DVD depending on which DVD you play.If you only want to see a particular episode, choose episodes. The background is Aqualad in fighting mode.Trailers are trailers. The background is Kid Flash in action mode.Settings are if you are bilingual or curious to see how it sounds in Spanish, Portugoal or French. There are subtitles if you want to know what was said. The background is Robin hacking the motion sensors. There are a few bonuses. There's a digital comic with a preview and the trailers on the discs are just encouraging people to buy the DC NATION selection on DVD or watch them such as Young Justice, Green Lantern, Batman Brave and the Bold, etc. There are three languages in the settings: English, French, and Spanish. If you are bilingual in these languages or more comfortable in either language or are curious to how the teams sounds besides English than you can change the language. There are subtitles in English and Spanish. The episodes in this package really go hand in hand by evaluating each character and their background. There are many secrets which will be uncovered once watched. Of course there's Spitfire (Wally/ Artemis) moments and Supermartian (Superboy/Miss Martian) moments for those who are curious. The DVD is in region one which does mean you can only on items for the US and Canada so I don't recommend buying this if you plan on shipping it to someone who lives outside of region one.Young Justice is a more serious show like Justice League. The episodes are really told by chronologically and do go hand and hand. Each episode has a reason and there are not really any filler episodes. By viewing it the first, you may be like why are we watching Secrets. The plot does explain the Light, or the team, or the secrets held by the team. SO I do encourage people who HAVE watched the show and would like to just watch without going on Cartoon Network. If you just to preview it then watch an episode by renting it or watching it on Cartoon Network but the episodes shown are currently about Season Two so you could find it confusing. EDIT: As of 6/30/2013 Cartoon Network appears to have stopped rerunning Young Justice.People who don't like Young Justice do not like the new characters or the timeline of Young Justice. Young Justice if from Earth 16 which means things are different. So that means old and new characters might be different. Season two is going to be different also. I will do a review once I purchase part one of Season two and go further on that.I've seen Young Justice from episode one and I enjoy DC and I've watched DC related shows from the age of three. I've loved DC nation ever since I was a kid so I am biased but I don't purchase things without a love for it. I am old school. I like DVDS and buying it from Amazon Instant view or Itunes just wasn't for me. I didn't really enjoy lunging around the laptop to watch downstairs or in the living room where the television was much larger. It depends on you really. Young Justice is a good show AND most people I know are over the age of thirteen who enjoy it as much as I do. Some have watched Justice League, Batman Beyond, Batman the Animated Series and like it; others don't. I love this show and I'm a geek. So really if you want to wait, wait. If you just want to buy, buy. If you don't, then don't. I give it five out of five.

Fantastic show...to bad it was cancelled.
As with most characters literary or otherwise, every few years a new iteration of a property is derived to present the most contemporary depiction of their universe. While some are memorable (Batman: The animated Series, Superman: The animated Series, Justice League, Teen Titans, Batman Beyond), many often fall short of the mark (Legion of superheroes, Zeta Project, Static Shock (Sucks), The Batman (Uuugggh), or at best simply fail to live up to the success of past interpretations. Young Justice chronicles the adventures of the younger counterparts of the DC universe's more familiar ensemble of heroes as they adjust to venturing out on their own and forming a a team to combat threats the Justice League cannot otherwise address. And unlike many of the other disappointing depictions of some of DC's most beloved icons, this is one of the better DC animated series available. The story lines in provide the viewer with just the right amount of insight into each of the jr leagues cast of characters, without focusing on one or two. There are enough cameos from the greater DC universe to appease even the most die-hard fans. And the occasional appearance of Bruce greenwood as batman is always welcome. The animation is stellar, and there never feels like there is a throwaway episode in terms of the animation. Similarly the artists have done a remarkable job of creating modern versions of the characters, that are true to there origins, but appealing to a younger audience. As a guy who is pushing 30, no children, very active, a firefighter, martial arts instructor, who is super handsome, I very much looked forward to each Saturday afternoon and finding this recording on my dvr.

Absolutely amazing
People often refer to Justice League Unlimited (and its predecessor Justice League) as the finest in animated superhero stories (though, the argument is often made Batman: The Animated Series is better, but it is also a predecessor series to JLU). Young Justice threatens to usurp this distinction featuring the brilliant mind behind Disney's Gargoyles and Spectacular Spider-Man in Greg Weisman who creates lush, full, and living worlds filled with compelling, realistic characters placed in methodically tempered plots with drama and thrilling action. Young Justice, and its second season Invasion, are brilliantly written and, despite this, being cancelled after falling under Cartoon Network's rule of killing shows when enough episodes are made to run them in syndication (Ben 10 and [adult swim] aside). Interestingly enough, as Weisman creates critically acclaimed and cult-followed series that end before their time, the creator is often compared to Joss Whedon of the Avengers and Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame. It is highly recommended to purchase this series, mostly because you won't regret it, but also because it may very well give the series the push necessary for DC Comics to fight for its return. As an aside, Weisman doesn't steer this ship alone. Young Justice also features the talents of Brandon Vietti ( Batman: Under the Red Hood , The Batman, and Batman: The Brave and the Bold) and character designs of Phil Bourassa ( Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths and Justice League: Doom ). Young Justice: Season One - Volumes 1, 2 & 3 Young Justice Invasion Destiny Calling: Season 2 Young Justice Vol. 1 Young Justice Vol. 2: Training Day Young Justice Vol. 3: Creature Features

Great character development and emotional growth
Just to point out this is a region 1 DVD. Young Justice grows emotionally. Great second half to the first season, after the action packed first season I was hoping that the second half of the season would live up to the high standard set. I really like that fact that the YJ are actually seen by the Justice League actually does see them as heroes under training and includes them on certain mission.Dangerous Secrets is the perfect name of this half of the season. A number of revelations every character had a chance to grow, and or be tempted by their dark sides. The action is great, but that is secondary to the absolute perfect character development. A character like Kid Flash acts like a total jerk as part of his public image and is seemingly the most immature member of YJ, but in private moments you see his true personality. Some characters need to confront daddy and family issues. All the loose ends are tied up and even leaving a great cliff hanger for the next season. There are a couple of standalone episodes, but to this was meant to be a series, therefor there are many references to previous episodes. If you love comic book action and continuity, you will love series, if you don't it is you are not a comic book fan.
