Takes place in a huge (real) market over the course of about 24 hours. Story of a young man and a girl 'friend' who gets put in charge of 7 crates of ?? He's to move them around the market until the police lose interest in the shop they were stored in. To say that complications arise is to underestimate their contents or the number of characters (whom we meet and enjoy) who want a peek inside. The only film in my acquaintance that features a push-cart chase. I lived in Paraguay and worked there, and this movie presents a meaningful and deep insight into the lives of those on the margins of society. Filmed at Mercado 4 marketplace, a crazy typical open air third world market, the actions and characters capture the type of life lived by those in that economic group.
