Lego Batman - Nintendo DS

5 year old loves this
My 5 year old son got this as his 1st DS game for his birthday. He played it nearly continually from Feb to May until he lost it somewhere. I'm sure he cleared most of the game but it kept saying only 35% complete so I think while he finished the adventures he still needed to unlock more characters which is why he wasn't 100% complete. Some areas he needed help on were the racing stages and double jumping in which you press jump and immediately press jump again and hold it while Batman glides to a ledge further away. I needed to help him with the double jump but he was able to finish the racing himself, he just never achieved much in the racing. He also wasn't reading but he was still able to play the game without reading the prompts, especially after I read them once or twice for him. I wish the text also had a voice over to help him understand better but it doesn't.

LEGO Batman is great!
First of all let me say that the "LEGO" games that I've played so far for the DS are great! My first encounter was Indiana Jones and then I got "LEGO Battles". (Both are excellent btw) I've read reviews on the Star Wars games etc., but i just haven't had the time to get into all of them. From what I've experienced so far, the "LEGO" series of games are well worth the investment. Because for one thing, they're FUN. You have to 'blow up the scenery' in order to succeed. The graphics, story lines, quests, characters and character movements and abilities are addicting. Especially Batman for the DS. There are Hero and Villain modes. Who wouldn't want to play the Joker and have Batman be your sidekick in Free Play mode? It's just a lot of fun. I do have to say that I've been a loyal follower of the Zelda series (always bought the newest Nintendo system because there was a new Zelda game...) but now I'm starting to lean towards the "LEGO" series. Great job Warner Brothers and TT Games! Thanks.

The copy I was sent does not work
I tried it in 2 different Nintendo DS's that I own and know work and every time I tried to use the batman game it didn't register that I had the game in. It just kept telling me to insert a game. The other games I own worked just fine so its not me or my Nintendo. Returned..

Buy this. You're welcome.
This game is my jam. I have had so much fun with it and this is what I measure every other DS game against. There are hidden rooms and when you first start out it gives you hints how to work the characters until you progress more. Its challenging in places but not impossible. Lego Batman 2 is also good but not as great as the original!

Fun, but just too dark
Lego Batman is a fun game, but it has problems. First of all, it is dark visually which is understandable because Batman comes out at night. However, this game is so dark that you cannot play with the lights on nor in a sunny room for you can't see the screens. The game play is about average for a Lego's game and the camera is disorientated at times, but it doesn't hurt the re-play ability you'll have with this game. My main problem is the objects you have to find in each level. As in all Lego games, you have to find mini-kits that are put together to form an object. With this game, you play as the hero (Batman) or as the villains where you have to find five mini-kits in each level for both hero and villain. Then you have to find Joker cards, Riddler tokens, red bricks and silver or gold keys in order to unlock doors or rooms. Finding any of the first three is tough, but finding the keys is impossible! I have replayed this game in both modes for the past two months and have yet to find these keys. All in all you can probably finish the story mode and free play modes in about two to four hours if you're looking for all the items. It's not great but it'll entertain you during a boring ball game.

Bat-tastic.
I bought this game for my four year old son for Christmas, but don't let his age make you think this is an easy game to play. He does fantastically, but he's also inhumanly good at video games for his age. His cousins (aged 7-11) play video games at relatively the same pace as he does, so I would recommend this particular game for most 7-8 year olds.I'm using video games at this point to encourage him to learn how to read, and it's so working (bwahahahaha), so yes, there is reading involved in this game, and he has fun AND gets frustrated figuring the game out, as any good game should aspire to instill in it's players. There is "lego" violence in it (punching, kicking, freeze rays, etc) for parents that are concerned about that, but the characters break apart like real legos, so there is absolutely no gore or blood or any of that nastiness.Right now the game's only downfall is that I have to actually limit his time playing...he used to just play games for a half hour or so and then go play something more active, but this game had him playing through 2 full charges of his DSi before I had to confiscate it...

Fun but frustrating for 7 year old boy
Purchased for my 7 year old nephew whose a batman fanatic and was just gifted a Nintendo DS. I was really hoping he'd love this game but he had a hard time beating some of the levels and seemed to give up on the game out of frustration. It's certainly an interactive game but seemed a bit too tough from a 7 year old boys perspective.

My 4 year old loves this
This game is fun even for my 4 year old!! When we ordered it, we weren't sure if it would be too advanced and some of it is, but he doesn't care. He doesn't get all the different levels but has fun with the basics of this game and has gotten into most of the rooms to play. It's a great game that he'll be able to grow into and have fun with for years. For now, we're having fun playing with him and getting him through the spots where he gets stuck. This is a must for any Batman fan.

Good graphics and easy to learn if your child is ...
Enjoyable game for kids. Good graphics and easy to learn if your child is young. My daughter was six when I bought this for her and she enjoys using it on long car trips.

Very enjoyable game
Overall a fun game to play. Lots of objectives that will keep you at it for many hours at a time. Unlockable characters keep you motivated and once you have beaten the game on Hero mode, you are able to play from the villain's perspective and go through it all again.I recommend this game for any Batman fans and anybody who enjoys the lego series games.
