I'm so excited to have this set! For years I've used a saucepan with a metal bowl! I've burned myself using a pot holder to work with the bowl and I've dipped the pot holder in the chocolate (or whatever) when trying to remove it, etc. I looked at the sets that had a double boiler portion with a stainless handle that wasn't coated with a heat resistant coating. There's no way you can work with that without using a potholder or towel. This set is perfect, the top pan and lid fit beautifully onto the bottom sauce pan (which has a heavy clad bottom and can be used for other purposes) and best of all, the handles stay cool!! I would recommend this to anyone!

Some things (like marinara !!!) benefit enormously from gentle, hours-long cooks. I have a stand-alone induction burner, and it would be useless for delicate sauce cooks due to the extremely high impulse heat cycles it applies, **except** for this double boiler, which buffers those massive heat impulses perfectly into finely controllable heat levels. My marinara cooks for eight hours into mind-melting awesomeness in this double boiler. Couldn't be happier with it. Highly recommended.

The capacity of the 3-quart double boiler could influence your decision based upon your personal requirements. Cookware is functional for the occasional residential use but not for the frequent commercial use. Build quality is marginal.

This double boiler looks great, is solid, fits together nicely, and the handles are made to protect from burns. Can’t imagine anything nicer. We will melt some chocolate chips in it tomorrow for a party at our church.

My microwave door latch broke and having to wait over 2 months for new microwave and trim kit. So, I remembered growing up in Pasadena Calif. near Rose Bowl, that we used a double boiler to make hot ceral and keep hot as each of 8 children woke to get breakfast. good solid set. bottom pot has thick bottom, top pot does not as its not ment to be put on the burner. nice medium size for custards or chocolate. would buy again.
