Quality product
Oster makes REALLY good blenders the one I had before this lasted 35 years, used it about once a week or more so I figured I got my money's worth out of it. Hope they still make good quality blenders. So far it works great.

Pretty decent blender
Sooo im pretty spoiled growing up with healthnut parents and im used to reeallly nice blenders. Of course a weird turn of events happened and i literally lost everything i owned But i needed a blender and didnt want to go blenderless while i saved up for a good one (i make $9/hour) and i was pretty surprised. It actually blends pretty well. Not the best for frozen drinks (i tried to make a tea slush today and the tea was wayy separate from the ice but the ice was blended p smoothly. All in all its a pretty good blender- its amazing for the price and id definitely reccommend it. Oh and it was filthy when i got it. Idk where theyre storing these but mine was COVERED in dirt and dust and had even made it into the blender so make sure ya give it a good wash

Oster makes a very reliable blender...used to turn the brand into a verb: Osterizing
I dropped the pitcher of my original Osterizer and it cracked...not a big loss since it was a wedding shower gift in 1968. Seriously, it had been through a lot! This one has a glass pitcher and is a little easier to take apart and clean. My only complaint is that it's much heavier. It's not a deal breaker, but when pouring crepe batter with one hand and swirling my pan with the other, it I notice the weight. I like that it has twice the settings of my original so I can really adjust the speed, it's quieter and it comes apart better to make it very easy to clean. I'm sure I'll use it just as much as my old one so it should out last me!

Oh how I love this blender.......
I know - it's a blender. But, it's such a good blender!! I had a Kitchenaid blender for the last 5 years and the ridiculous hard rubber "teeth" that held the blender onto its base broke off one by one from the first 6 months. When I made shakes in that blender, there were ALWAYS large ice chunks left behind and I just assumed that all blenders did this. That was, until, I met my new Oster 6812-001 Core 16-Speed Blender. This blender KILLS ice in less than 5 seconds. Seriously! There isn't a trace of a cube or chunk anywhere! I was going to wait to right a review until I had the blender longer, but I couldn't wait. If you are like me and did a lot of research on which blender to buy - look no further. This blender was $80 and Amazon.com sold it to me for $40!! Even if it only lasts a year, this blender was worth it! It also looks really sleek on my counter top with it's "chrome" finish. The thing that really sold me on this blender though was it's all metal drive. There are no silly plastic "teeth" that can break off. Sorry Kitchenaid, you lost a customer for life! I will always buy Oster blenders from now on.

Works well for my smoothies
I just replaced my huge & more expensive blender that I was given as gift. It had all the bells & whistles & a heater in the base but was too heavy for me & you couldn't get the base wet or wash it thoroughly & it started to smell. I had another Oster blender for 20+ years, so got this one. It is so much lighter & easier to handle and I use the pulse to get things started with my frozen fruit smoothies and then switch to the smoothie button. This is smaller than my old Osterizer blender, but big enough for 2+ cups of frozen fruit, yogurt, and 3 cups of liquid and is quite than either of my previous blenders. Can take it apart for a thorough washing and not strain my arthritic hands. Plus these Oster blenders can use small Mason jars with the base to grind or puree small things. I bought a small jar with a lid on Amazon & used with my old Osterizer and it works with this one too.

You get what you pay for.
I primarily used this for frozen fruit-based smoothies. It didn't work for my needs, and it was just a very low-quality product. I ended up returning it and getting a BlendTec blender. * A few times, when I put the blender down on the base, it started blending automatically (SCARY!) * The lid didn't fit on the container properly, there were gaps on all edges, as if the lid was just a tad too small. * A rust spot had formed on the top of the blade by the 10th use. * The container leaked from under the blade from the first use. * The command buttons were occasionally unresponsive. * This thing is LOUD for how underpowered it is. My 3-horse power BlendTec is quieter. * It gave off an odor from the motor or something. Unpleasant. As for its actual blending capabilities: equally unimpressive. Had to baby the blender constantly. Pulse for 10 seconds, scrape down the sides, pulse, scrape, add more liquid, pulse, scrape, pulse, drink. Frozen fruit smoothies would take about 5-6 minutes to make, having to constantly help the blender do its job. That said, at the end it did achieve a pretty good consistency. On my old Kitchen Aid blender, I always had strawberry seeds at the bottom of my smoothies. This blender seemed to shred them up, so that's one plus (I had to baby my Kitchenaid much less, however). If you're planning on making smoothies often, just bite the bullet and get a BlendTec or VitaMix blender. They're both high-powered, quality machines that are made in the USA (BlendTec: Utah, VitaMix: Ohio). You'll never need to buy another blender in your life.

I really like the glass jar and top loading features. The bottom is plastic and looks cheap.

Buttons feel really cheap. Actually, most of the plastic parts are made this way. Only sturdy parts are the metal ones. The jug is a really weird shape. I returned it because they sent me wrong parts with it, but I don't think I'd keep it anyway. Also it has US power plug so to use it you need an additional converter. Also it's really loud. I expected it to be a superb quality for this money, but I'm really disappointed. Not worth the money for sure.
