Important Fact: 5-40 Thread
If you're buying this rod to use with your standard bore cleaning brushes....it won't work unless you buy an adapter with a 5-40 thread (male) to an 8X32 thread (female). Nothing is mentioned in the description about this minor but ever so important fact that it won't work for any of the industry standard (8X32) barrel bore cleaning attachments without that adapter.

Items bends too easily
This item bends very easily, rendering it useless. A carbon fiber version costs a little more, but is much more resilient.

Excellent cleaning rod
This cleaning rod works perfectly. You just have to know how it is designed to use. .17 caliber is very narrow and will not accept standard diameter cleaning rods. The ultra narrow .17 rods will easily flex if trying to push a tight cleaning patch through the bore. So the proper way to use this rod is to carefully grip it near the muzzle as you push it through. It also requires careful choice of bore jags and not too thick of patches. Too tight and you may bend the rod. Another method that works is to push through the rod, attach a brush, and PULL it through the bore.None of the .17 rods Ive ever seen have 8/32 standard threads. The rod is too narrow for 8/32, so they are threaded 5/40, and the .17 jags are also 5/40 for the same reason. So there is nothing inherently defective with this cleaning rod. This company actually has a good reputation, especially for low cost cleaning rods. Just learn to use it properly.Or better yet, spend some serious cash on a Tipton Max rod and never bend one again.
