3M Face Shield.
The 3M face shield is packaged separately from the headgear, both of which are made of sturdy material. Take a little care in assembling the face shield to the headgear, and do not force anything into place and end up breaking the plastic parts. Don't toss your face shield onto the ground or a bed of nails and be surprised if it gets all scratched up. Treat it like a pair of expensive Oakley sunglasses if you want the shield to stay pristine and clear. LOL To assemble the American Way, without reading any instructions or looking at diagrams, simply align one of the holes on the edge of the face shield to the blue star shaped stud on the inside of the head gear. Move the shield up and down until it catches and locks onto the stud. Do the same for the other side of the face shield. Now the final part is to get the open slot on the top center of the face shield to lock into the headgear. Notice the groove on the inside edge of the blue forehead piece...the top edge of the shield fits into this groove. So grab the edge of the blue forehead protector with with your left hand, with the outside of the face shield against your left forearm. Now pull your left arm back and place the bottom edge of the face shield against your muscular chest. Pull it gently against your muscular chest...while at the same time, use your right thumb to pull the center blue tab away from the face shield so the open slot could snap into the tab. All in 15-20 seconds or faster if you trying out for the Guinness Book of World Record. Adjust the plastic band on the back of the helmet to fit your head comfortably, the head size is embossed on the gray head band. To move the shield up and down without it popping it off your head, just place one hand over the top head strap and use the other hand to push shield up or pull it down. As stated by another reviewer, when you tilt your head slightly down, the edge of the oversize shield will protect your neck. On me, the edge will touch about 3 inches belong the center of my collar bone. There is a large black perforated rubber band on the forehead to keep the headgear from moving around. The shield is big enough to wear goggles and glasses underneath, which will act as double protection for the eyes. I will be using mine when I grind the sidewalk edges that have lifted up.

Don't learn the painful way.
An absolute necessity for the garage! After a flying wire coming off my angle grinder stuck so far into my skull I needed locking pliers to pull it out (and a subsequent tetanus shot), I started using one of these rather than just safety glasses. The wire hit just above my eyebrow. This was a replacement for my original, which was fairly scratched and had a broken headband peg. That's the only downside--the weakish headband--but adjust it for a firm, comfortable fit rather than tight and it lasts quite a while. If you're working around spinning wire brushes or using cutoff wheels, this is way cheaper than new eyeballs and less hassle than constantly explaining that wicked scar.

Great for weedwacking
Weedwacking is more dangerous than it seems. I've had small rocks, tree bark, dog poop and frog parts splatter across my face. I learned quickly to keep my mouth shut but safety glasses were only protecting my eyes. Besides that, they had a tendency to fog up. For 12 bucks I figured I'd try a full face shield and I'm glad I did. This doesn't fog up and protects most of my face without getting too much in my way. When I stop to take a short break, I can pivot the shield up. It stays on my head nicely and the strap hasn't come undone like I feared it would after a while. I've been using it for weedwacking and chainsawing for two months and think it will at least last through summer. And it doesn't look too dorky...no more than safety goggles...but I'd rather use this than be a cool one eyed weed wacker with frog guts up his nose.

Worth the money !
I normally wear safety glasses but using an edger I needed more protection . Itโs light , comfortable , easy to adjust and offers a clear and protective shield . If taken care of I think this product will last for many years . 3M makes good products .

Great value for the cost.
I was a little leary about this face shield because of the low price, but went ahead and ordered it, to replace a cheapy one that I paid the same money for, that only had an elastic band going around my head to hold it. No way to adjust it and no flip up to get it out of the way. This face shield is worth twice the money I paid easy. Would and will buy again, when this one wears out. Comfortable for hours while turning at the lathe, which is where I use it.

No Ratcheting Adjuster
I can't comment on the function or durability of the face mask because I never assembled it. I failed to notice when I ordered it that it did not have a ratcheting head band. All my face shields and welding helmets have that feature and I don't want one without the adjuster. The construction seemed to be okay, but others have noted problems with the hinges breaking. I returned it ASAP.

Your face is worth saving, and "cool" to wear
I got this for protection while I am using my gas-powered Stihl string trimmers, which I use a lot for trimming rough grass, weedy areas, and small brush on my property. These powerful trimmers tend to throw a lot of little bits of stuff in all directions, despite being shielded. Until I got this face shield, I had been using various clear plastic safety glasses or goggles for protecting my eyes, but there were 2 problems with them: - On hot days, they would often fog up from perspiration and obscure my vision. - They only protected my eyes - the most precious part of my face - but did nothing for the rest of my face, which would often be struck by various particles that would sting and/or make my face dirty So I tried one of these, and it was an enormous improvement over glasses or goggles. I could see much more clearly, I got less hot, and it protected my whole face from the impact of high-velocity trimmings. Plus I got to look like David McCallum on NCIS. I made one other related improvement to my protection: I used to wear protective ear muffs, but hated their bulk and heat retention. So now I am using 3M Peltor Tri-Flange Ear Plugs, Green, 3-Pack , which I also use for lots of other stuff. I have purchased a whole bunch of these, most recently in the 21 pack.

Tough, durable, adjustable, comfortable
Great faceshield! It's got plenty of adjustability and great over the top protection. Unlike cheaper models, this one doesn't fog up while wearing an N95 mask.

Excellent product, very durable and worth the money
I found this works excellent and worth the money, not like the other face shields that are on the market.

As others have stated, this is an AO branded ...
As others have stated, this is an AO branded face shield. The shield (lens?) itself and part of the headband are branded as 3M. Overall the shield seems to be a quality product. The biggest issue I have with the product is that it does not fit me perfectly. When I have adjusted it as well as I can, the strap that goes around my head (as opposed to the one that goes on top) is tight on the bottom of the strap, but remains a bit loose on top. I would prefer it to be a bit tapered. I don't know if this would be a problem for many, as some hats also do not fit me well.
