Westcott Hole Punched Wood Ruler English (in) and Metric (cm) with Metal Edge, 12 Inches, 10702

I use this ruler for a purpose having nothing to do with measuring. In cake design, for measuring purposes, I use a quilters clear ruler, an L-square and flexible measuring tape.I use this ruler to create a faux technique on gumpaste for cake decorating. I use it to create a realistic looking mold design for my large Rococco style picture frames.I impress the metal side down on top of thinly rolled gumpaste - after line is impressed, I make another impression that's several millimeters down from the first line and there's your "frame molding".I learned this technique from a Craftsy class by Cake Opera's Alexandrai Pelegrino.

My husband laughed at me when this came in since we are well past school age and our kids have their own families now. It is just easier for me with only one useful arm than struggling with a tape measure. It brings back school memories from 5 decades ago though! Came in on time and from what I can see measures perfectly!

What can I say about rulers? I'm a math nerd, I keep several at hand so that when I misplace one, I can easily find another.The price was right, and I took advantage of the add-on program to get the ruler at a lower price than I might have otherwise paid.

Shipped quick and the only reason I gave 4 stars was the placement of the holes for my use. I drill holes at different measurements to use as large compasses to draw concentric circles for my mosaic mandalas. Some of the pre-drilled holes are placed between measurements I need but too close to drill. The were the least expensive, but I'll get undrilled next time.

Great to measure things with and see the length in inches and centimeters. Great to put on a pencil and spin it. But be careful as the ruler might fall off and slap someone in the face. Do not bend it as it can break with just a little pressure. Great for kids as it is cheap and not an expensive item to replace.

Getting really hard to find a plain old-fashioned wooden ruler with a metal edge, which you need if you're going to cut against it. (Funny how we all survived those days when those metal edges were removed and whipped around.) The ruler is well printed on quality wood. Get yours before the government 'safety police' bans these too.

the ruler is fine but i ordered a metric ruler and got centimeters not millimeters.

metal edge on ruler is not straight, it is angled - lower on one end and higher on the other. Ruler works well to be inserted into a binder, and has accurate measurements, however if you need it for an accurate straight edge, either use a different ruler or adjust for the tilt in the metal edging.

This wood ruler isn't quite as hefty as I was hoping. It was just okay.
