Perfect For Practice While Travelling
I bought the Blackstar amPlug2 so I could practice bass while I was on a road trip with my family. I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of tone and overall functionality but I was not disappointed. If fact, I was really surprised by how many different sounds I could get from this little amp. The sound quality is very good with nice clean lows, clear mids, and crisp highs. There’s a built-in overdrive that sounds awesome, a classic sound that is like a vintage thumpy tone, and a modern channel that has really nice resonant tones. There’s also an aux port so you can plug in your phone or another source to play music or backing tracks while you practice. As if all that wasn’t enough, it also has multiple built-in drum loops to jam with to help keep time or just to have some drums to play along with. You don’t need any guitar cables or power supplies since it plugs directly into your instrument and runs on 2 AAA batteries that last a very long time. Just don’t forget to bring your wired headphones and some extra AAA batteries if you’re going to be using the amp a lot. Overall, I don’t have any complaints about this little amp. I’m home from our trip now and I still use this amp when I just want to quickly plug in with some headphones and practice or if I want to practice in a different room then where I have my amps set up or even outside. As a side note: I have pretty good over-the-ear headphones that I use with this amp. You should probably have headphones that can handle some bass or you might experience some clipping or distortion. If you’re looking for a good travel amp, need to be able to practice quietly, or just want something super portable this is the amp for you! Honestly, even if you have a great studio setup, having one of these around is still a great idea. It’s such a convenient solution for quick and/or quiet practice sessions I’ll keep one in my bass case for the rest of time.

Fun little piece of gear
Read a lot of reviews saying this was cheap, plastic, easily broken, etc. I can see how that would be true if you weren’t careful. But if you ARE careful and aren’t in the habit of throwing your guitar around like a maniac when you’re practicing, this is a great tool. Bought it because I’m moving overseas and amps weren’t going to work, sold them and figured I’d use this in the meantime. I have used it for bass and guitar. Sounds better for bass (makes sense) but fine for guitar too. I love the tap tempo rhythm feature, but I used it a few times before realizing there were different beats you could use if you hold down the button (not really a direction reader). It’s not a perfect system, but it adds to the fun. For the money it’s a cool thing, but I wouldn’t pay more than I did ($50) Saw some for >$75…. Doubt they’re worth it unless the build quality is way better.

Just like the VOX Bass version, but even better!
After trying some other adapters, I found the VOX Bass adapter (AP2-BS) and loved it for practicing with headphones. But I broke my VOX, and they were back-ordered, so I got this one. Surprise! This one is even better. The VOX unit has a volume control for the "tempo/beat", (which I don't use, I play music from my phone into the AUX jack) But this Blackstar unit instead has separate Volume and Gain (just like my real amp), so you can control sound/distortion. Both versions have good quality sound. I just wish they came in a rechargeable version! (I tried some other brands that were rechargeable, and the sound quality was terrible).

Surprisingly good tone, drum loop is annoying
Surprisingly good little headphone amplifier. I wasn't expecting much other than something to practice through late at night but the tone is actually great. If they made a full size bass amplifier I would be looking into it. My main gripe is the drum loop which is far too easy to accidentally turn on and hard to turn off and even harder to use when you do want it. Otherwise it's a nice way to practice. Buy a decent set of in ear monitors and you're all set.

whoah mama!
Even with earbuds, this sounds great. You may think you are not wearing earbuds, because the sound is so natural. Then try it with a real over the ear set of cans and whoa! This thing jumps! The drums and metronome are very useful. I wish there would have been some minimum amount of documentation. I should take one star off, but i won't, because this thing sounds so good.

Perfect solution for practicing without an amp.
I just spent a week at a summer place where I didn't want to lug a bass amp. Allowed me to play as much as I wanted without disturbing others. There's a look-alike VOX branded model which people fault for having a hiss, but this unit does not suffer from that problem. I pair this with budget OneOdio headphones with dual input for both instrument and external source for playing along with mp3s, youtube vids, etc. The Blackstar has an aux input for the same purpose but I haven't tried it yet. Other features include a decent little drum track, and a swivel plug for positioning the unit. Great value for the money.

Absolutely great tool
The quality of these little lamps becomes obvious once you put your headphones on. Super portable and effective. Battery seems to last a while especially if you remember to turn it off. I've got the box and the black star. They both feel super cheap and chintzy but both work great. Wish they were a little cheaper or a little bit more rugged. Neither the Black Star nor the vox feel very durable. There's definitely value here.

I love this thing!
Perfect for practicing in my apt complex with headphones on. I had to buy an adapter for my Samsung Galaxy phone to work with the aux port, but not I can jam along with my music library. I had one that last 5 years, but then I accidently banged my bass against the wall breaking the little amp as it hung out, but that was my fault. This purchase is a replacement for what I consider an excellent practice amp. Used it so much yesterday that I got a new blister... and I have been playing for 30+ years :-)

Perfect for practise either bass, acoustic or electric
Easy to use Good sound quality (make sure you use quality headphones) Can plug it into multimedia speaker and sounds better than a practise amp (with a JVB speaker sounds amazing) Rythm patterns are cool and a nice extra feature

Nifty little thing
Amazing amplug. It's the perfect solution for when you want to play with distortion or som effects but can't play on a regular amp due to how loud it would be.

Top product for quiet practice
The metronome/realistic drum sound time keeper is quite nice (but a bit difficult to control). My only bad comment is the fast consumption of batteries… Top product!
