Economical Product that Works Well with Expensive Incense
We bought this to burn our Prinknash Abby "Basilica" incense that we bought in London at a cathedral. The incense is made by Benedictine monks and is based on a description in Parshah Ketoret. We start the charcoal with a long butane lighter. It does spark and it is necessary to hold the lighter to the edge for a few seconds and best to light in several places. That done, the charcoal quickly turns to a solid, glowing coal and does a very fine job of burning the incense. The packaging cannot be effectively resealed after opening and the self-lighting chemicals are volatile so the effect will disappear if left open to the air. A small Zip-loc bag sealed with the air squeezed out and rolled up works well.We are very happy with this product.

Arrived intact and fresh enough to light easily
The charcoal arrived in a padded envelope through the mail, but all the discs were intact - nothing was crushed in transit. The discs lighted easily and, after the expected sparkling, they burned evenly and lasted over an hour each.I have been using these to burn resin church incense, and find they work perfectly. The price for a single roll of ten was in line with what I expected to pay based on the cost of a box of 100 discs available through on-line church supply outlets. I have since discovered I can buy them locally at middle-eastern shops that sell hookahs, as the charcoal is apparently used to light the tobacco. If you don't have access to a place like that, this is a good alternative.

Lights fast and burns clean, not sure why a lot of people have problems
I know some people have had problems with this charcoal, but I'm not seeing any of the noxious smoke or burning too fast issues that some people have. Each disk lights quickly and burns for close to or maybe even over an hour. I use it to burn incense, so it's hard to tell if the smoke is coming from the charcoal or the incense itself, but considering the smell and how the charcoal reacts when I don't have incense on it I'd say that the disk is not causing much smoke at all. Just be very careful because it is extremely hot, I use a clay holder that holds up really well under the heat but I have to be careful not to hold anywhere close to the disk for fear of burning myself.

Good charcoal--at least those that survive shipping.
This charcoal actually burns well. It lights very quickly and seems to give an even heat. However....only 4 of the 10 in the roll arrived intact. I knew something was up when I opened the mailer (double-packed--both a regular plastic and a bubble type mailer) and there was charcoal dust in it. Opening the second bubble mailer revealed even more. This isn't necessarily a fault of the supplier and probably more of the shipper (USPS,) but I basically just spent $1 for each useable piece of charcoal.

Old School Tool!
These are your typical incense charcoals. They mostly exist to burn resins and special incense. They burn nicely. They smoke quite a bit. Be sure you have a place to burn these. It might be more cost and environmentally efficient to get a resin burner, but in a pinch these work well.

I did not receive good burning charcoal disk this time
I did not receive good burning charcoal disk this time, they are very hard to light. I have had to throw some away. I have had better disk in the past that was the reason I continued to order them

Great buy. Burns evenly when properly lit.
Worked as hoped. Burned evenly when properly lit. These work well when bed of salt is poured first. Light charcoal disc while holding with metal kitchen tongs, then place on bed of salt in sensor and lay incense on top of charcoal disc.
