Courier from Warsaw

Superbly written

Jan Nowak's story is incredible. I did know the basic facts about his work for the exiled Polish government before reading this. However, his own account of his actions as a courier to London and his participation in the Warsaw Uprising can't compare to common knowledge or other books written by historians that only mention his story. This book is a must read for any person of Polish descent that is interested in Polish history.

This book is about how Polish people were betrayed during WW2 by their allies US and especially UK, who sold them into Soviet slavery.

This is one of the most powerful memoirs about World War II, told by a man of great courage and intelligence.It deserves to be wildely known. Someone has said it should be read by people of Polish descent. It should be read by anyone who is interested in World War II. It is harrowing, gripping, deeply disturbing, yet also in a way uplifting because it shows that there were many fearless and decent people who tried to combat the evils of Nazism and Stalinism. I have read this book twice.

As a young graduate school student, I was trying to decide where I should spend my year abroad. I needed to study another language and I was considering several different locations in Europe. After reading this book, I knew it had to be Poland. I spent a year in Poland and it changed my life. What an incredibly moving and courageous story! I absolutely loved it! Highly recommended.
