Here are the missing instructions
The actual ball and rod are high quality, which is what matters. I put one of these on a sink a few years ago and it's still going strong. Recently I had another old stopper rod break, so I got another one of these and replaced it as well. The only problem with this product is that there are no instructions. I had to remind myself how to install it, so I'm documenting it here to save you the trouble. I made a diagram that shows the proper installation order, and here are the instructions:0. Clean the existing pipe really well. (I recommend a toothbrush and paper towels.) If there's junk or rust where the rubber washer needs to seal against the drain assembly, you may get leaks. If rust gets between the nylon washer and nylon ball, it may tear up the plastic over time, also leading to leaks.1. Put the black rubber washer into the existing drain pipe. It helps form a water-tight seal between the ball assembly and the pipe There should be a recessed lip inside the drain pipe that it rests on.2. White nylon washer, cupped side out. It forms a water tight seal with the ball.3. Rod + ball. You may need to cut the rod with a hacksaw, angle grinder, or similar if you have limited space behind the drain.4. Screw-on cap. You may need to use the original one that came with the drain assembly, rather than the metal one that comes with this stopper rod. Hand tighten. It doesn't need to be super tight, since the rubber washer will seal things up, and over-tightening can damage the rubber over time.5. One side of the retaining clip, if you have one. (Some sinks use other mechanisms to attach the strap to the drain rod.)6. Strap that goes up to the drain opener/closer that's part of the faucet.7. Other side of the retaining clip.Tip: sometimes it's easier to loosely slip the cap over the rod and attach the rod to the strap first, then slip the whole rod + strap assembly into the drain pipe opening.

Real stainless steel!
The biggest problem with pop-up drain rod is the rod will rust and deteriorate after a few years and eventually break. The Symmons-112N is a high quality replacement that is made of real stainless steel which will not rust! The ball is a nice strong nylon looking material. The ball was slightly bigger than my original part but I’m handy enough to be able to grind it a little bit and viola, a perfect fit. Again, high quality material but be aware you might have make some adjustments. This is why I rated this product 5 stars for quality and 4 stars for ease of installation.

Very easy and quick install…
The product was an easy install, only taking about 5 minutes. It took longer moving the organizing baskets out of the way than the actual install. The only negative was the metal silver screw cap didn’t fit the inlet pipe orifice for the drain assembly. I had to use the one that was already on my sink piping.

perfect fit
This worked perfectly. I didn't even need to add the rubber seal and bushing as the original didn't have them either, and I couldn't even install it with them on anyway as the screw cap wouldn't engage the threads unless I removed the seal and bushing. Checked for leaks and no leaks. Only neg is the price.I ordered at least three of these for all my bathroom sinks.

Perfect length
I bought a few, but none of the others worked. Either they were too short or too long. This one was perfect. The overall length of 7.35 inches was the right one for my needs.

Installation tip
This is the best small-bit-of-money I've spent in a while; it totally solved my problem of the old one leaking. But it required more installation work and thinking than it should have, so I'm writing a review to help others in case they experience the same issue. The item comes with both a rubber washer and a plastic washer. The plastic washer is clearly intended to go against the screw-cap, but it was very unclear to me where the rubber washer should be used -- between the plastic washer and ball, or between the ball and the drain hole? There are no instructions, either on paper on online, and the photo that everyone uses shows the parts unassembled (while most photos of similar items show the parts in the correct order on the rod). I've tried installing it both ways, and having the rubber washer between the ball and the drain clearly works better for me. Along with creating a better seal, it provide some friction to keep the rod in the full-up position (and thus keep the drain stopper in the fully closed position).

Needs a Clamp
I bought this to replace one that broke, but the circumferenece is thicker than my old one and it doesn’t include a clamp. It wouldn’t fit through the clamp I already had. I had to jury-rig it to complete the install.
