A Sweet Lesson
This story is a classic. The book is perfect! The cover feels solid and sturdy. The pages are crisp. The binding is tight and there IS actual tape along the book's spine. The printing is vibrant and clear. A great gift!

Great for young children. Good message.
Love how repetitive it is for my young children. They can basically read (tell) the story with me. Good message as well.

Timeless Classic Everyone Should Read and Heed
Excellent book with a timeless message about selflessness and helpfulness. I gave a copy to my step children who like to sit around and watch their mom do everything for them. I wonder if they'll get the hint.

An Age Old Story with a Perfect Message.....
To anyone who grew up in the 1950's with Little Golden Books, I think you would automatically enjoy the moral behind this one! Even when my kids were teens, I can remember on certain appropriate occasions saying to them, "Remember the Little Red Hen??" It was the sure thing to say for that jump start into getting them to do chores or whatever it was they were supposed to do in order to reap any rewards or privileges that would come from that! I couldn't say it any better! They'd get my message and have no argument to the absolute logic which they'd picked up on, all on their own, at a very young age by the instilled values of the Little Red Hen who had to do everything all by herself, all those laborious steps to planting the wheat, preparing the wheat and the flour and to finally being able to bake the bread itself, because none of her friends or her kids would help her along the way. But when it came to actually EATING the bread, they all wanted to participate in that most pleasurable aspect but were denied that pleasure because they had refused to help in any aspect of the hard work of preparing it! Would the world be a better place today, I wonder, if EVERY child had had to read and learn the concept of The Little Red Hen?? Perhaps we should consider sending a copy of this book to certain members of our government! I know it somehow became a tool of a sort in raising my children, and now a must-have in my collection of meaningful things.

The little red hen asks help from her friends and none of them help her as they are busy with their own work. She works all hard from planting a wheat seed to baking a bread. At the end of book she enjoys the treat. My kid enjoys 'Not I' the most.
