good for reading, wish it came with neck pillow
update: i've had this thing a few months and i like it even more now. this morning, i thought - what if i put this pillow on something that doesn't have a wall? i never thought to try it because i assumed it wouldn't work. wrong, i am writing this on a bed that doesn't have a side and isn't against a wall, and - it's working!! i'm super happy with it. soft enough to be comfortable, but firm enough to keep you up. i wish there was more neck support but i got used to keeping my head and neck against the pillow and looking down to read.older:i tested about 4 or 5 wedges/bed rests for reading in bed and kept two - this one, and the "Arlee Suede Oversized Bedrest Lounger, Eclipse". this avana is quite large, does not come with the neck pillow in the picture, but out of all the wedges i tried it was the most comfortable. you have to lean back into it so your neck gets support, and for me it is the perfect blend of firmness but comfort - the way memory foam is :D i wish it wasn't such a monstrosity because my bedroom is fairly small but that's ok - this is allowing me to read in bed for hours without pain, it just holds you back at pretty much the exact angle i was looking for. i just wish it came with the neck pillow because imagine reading with your neck back against this angled pillow, it's like your eyeballs have to go way down to read the book but i'm getting used to it, or will by some sort of neck pillow. for the price you'd think this would come with the neck pillow. the other wedges i tried were too firm, too stiff, etc. the other one i really like for reading, the "Arlee Suede Oversized Bedrest Lounger, Eclipse," i use on my futon but could be used on the bed too and has a great amount of firmness. normal reading pillows are too short for me, but the arlee is 21' tall and does well so i can sit up and read on the sofa. so if you're an obsessive reader like me, i recommend them both.

Very Firm But Nice Product Overall
Bought this for my bed-ridden Mother. Out of the box, it was vacuumed sucked/sealed into packaging a quarter of it's original size -- then packaged inside a zippered carry bag. The carry bag will be useless once you open the sealed bag and the bed rest expands to its true size, there is absolutely no way you'd get it back in the carry bag (not that we planned on taking it anywhere outside the home).Upon first inspection, it did look and feel like it was of very good quality, The cover was very soft/plush. Noticed there is a zipper all the way around the bottom to remove the cover for washing. However, my Mother did not like the firmness. It is extremely large, bulky (hard to move on/off bed) and very, very firm. I didn't want to under-rate this product just because the firmness wasn't what we expected. It's a finely made product -- but like the 3 Bears Story, you have to find something "just right".

Must have for back and lumbar support.
I love the softness and comfort of the Avana Back Rest Memory Foam and Lumbar Pillow. I also like the washable cover included with the purchase. There are actually two heights, depending on the flat side one choses. The Avana pillow can adjust to 17-1/2 inches or 22 inches.I actually have acid reflux. My doctor recommended a wedge pillow. I find the acid reflux pillows varies from 7 inches to 14 inches in height. I am okay with the 17-1/2 inch flat side as I do not have to go too high to feel comfortable. I can even put a soft neck pillow that does not slip when placed on the curve of the pillow. I use the 22 inches high to watch television or read in bed.The pillow can be compressed to a side of a duffle bag, if needed. I highly recommended this pillow for its multiple functionality.

It does prop you up better in bed and supports you
It's too hard for my Fibromyalgia, as my cheaper wedge is, so I have to put a soft pillow over it. It's working OK. I use the lower placement. It does prop you up better in bed and supports you. I think I would like that half roll neck pillow with it. If you have a lot of pain like I do it may not be soft enough depending on your pain level. But I am using it. Dreaming of one made for people with Fibro pain. :-) Better than a plain wedge for sure.

puts you in a comfortable sitting up position for watching tv
I use it every night for watching tv, puts you in a comfortable sitting up position for watching tv. My tv is mounted high on the wall, if it were sitting on a table lower it probably wouldn't work very well for me, I would have to tilt my head forward off the cushion then. Very pleased for my use, it is big, very big.

Has potential - but not for me
Meh, it's okay. I'm short (5'3") and find the curve of the pillow does not fit right with the curvature of my back and neck. Seems to be made for a taller person. You can flip it and use it for a more reclined or less reclined position. The material is very, very dense. It doesn't "give" at all. If they made these in three sizes and it had a little more softness, it would be a much better product.

Pricey, but comfy!
Not sure why it's so expensive- it's just a large piece of foam with a nice zip-off cover. Smelled when I first got it but dissipated pretty quickly. It comes in a small box but beware- it's big! That being said, I was having a lot of neck pain from reading in bed before with regular pillows. Pain is gone. I haven't really changed anything else, so I like this pillow!

great replacement!
My previous pillow's cover (different shape) had the zipper completely break and unzipped so the foam is exposed. These pillows are so large that I didn't know how to reupholster. I found this pillow by the same company and although it is a different shape, it still goes well with the other pillow set I already have.Would definitely recommend!

Solid supportive wedge
My son-in-law is quadriplegic and I purchased this for him to use for sitting up in bed. It is very stable memory foam, does not compress easily and overall a quality product. Would definitely recommend.

Great quality maybe too highly priced.
Great quality, two positions possibilities which is nice, but definitely a bit too expensive. No regrets though!
