Is this size good for paint by number detailed work?

Your going to be getting mixed answers because there are 3 different pack. I got the 100 pointed tips and they will work just fine for paint by number. I'm using them to paint miniatures with which is much smaller.

The tip of nylon hair artist brushes is easy to come off?

No they stay attached pretty good
