The First Six Weeks of School

This book was written for a time like this when teachers have to be revisiting procedures ever so often.

A must read for all new teachers or even seasoned teachers starting a new school year!

I was so excited to get this book and glad that it has different applications for grades K-6. This book came in a really good condition all around, nice a glossy and pages all aligned along the spine. I liked the format and the suggestions it has, all step by step which I really need and not just theories of why students would behave a certain way. This helps with bringing positive language into the classroom and activities that will greatly impact how the year will turn out. I can use these suggestions right away and was hoping to get this sooner rather than a day before school starts so the timing of the delivery was nice. Although a bit outdated I would like to find something similar to this book that has videos of how a responsive classroom first six weeks would look like.

I bought this book for one of my classes, and it will be a book that I will pull out every year to ensure that I am not forgetting anything within the first few weeks of school. I bought it used, and it came as if it were brand new! Definitely recommend if you want to save a couple bucks!

All throughout my teaching program professors and mentor teacher recommended this book to me and I now know why. Although it is geared towards kindergarten to 6th grade there are important things you can pull out for secondary students. I am starting my first year of teaching this fall and I feel confident that because of this book we will have a strong start to the school year and my first year of teaching won't just be horrific experience my mind tried to block out. 10/10 would recommend for any first year teacher to read or 2nd or 3rd year teacher for that matter. If you feel like the beginning of the year is a s*** show this book will help you! 🙏

This book lays out the foundation of using Responsive Classroom. The plans are all there and you could follow them closely or take some of the ideals and practices and blend them in with work you already do. This book was recommended to me by a colleague who says she will never NOT use it at the start of the year. It has made my initial planning a lot more intentional and I am excited to see how it goes!

This is an amazing book and a must read for any teacher, whether you are a beginning teacher or a veteran teacher
