Use with caution with lithops
I’ve ordered this in the black galaxy, the bonsai gritty mix, and the Green Zeolite. The black galaxy is a great, small grain top dressing. 5 starsThe Green Zeolite i also got for use as a top dressing- it looks great, however the particles are rather large and many of the pieces have really sharp edges. I’ve lost 4, two to three year old lithops that were previously healthy as can be due to this top dressing bruising/damaging the lithops bodies which could not be seen until they were stained green and ridden with rot. Maybe it would be great for a hardier plant, but i won’t be using it for fleshy plants such as lithops or succulents anymore. 2 stars- i don’t recommendThe bonsai gritty mix is mostly great, however it unfortunately also contains some Green Zeolite with sharp edges. One of my echeveria cuttings took to it well and rooted quickly, however i sadly lost another large lithops due the green zeolite- so use with caution around soft, fleshy plants. 4 stars.

Hold Soil moisture for long time for indoor Succulent
* These gritty mix stones are good for small pots to maintaining soil moisture.* One bag get me 6 different 5" pots covered well with these.* These will help to keep soil moist in winters for indoor plants when heaters will be running all day.* Also will help to stop fungus growth in indoor plants.

Deters fungus gnats
Last fall, with extreme effort, I tried to get rid of fungus gnats. The end result was throwing out all my plants.😓 Much to my dismay, the little ****ers are back this summer SO..Rescreening windows with screen for small insects.Spraying the yard with insecticideAnd topping off the new plants with these after scooping out a layer of dirt. Important to know that water filters through these quickly.I just wish bigger amounts were available for purchase.

Stunning!
Lock down has brought out the gardener in me. I'm attempting to grow lithops in a couple of terrariums. They need a specific environment and their colors can be a bit muted. This solves both issues. The soil is well draining but not gravel, and the color will make them and the river stones I collected pop. The texture is nice and they're almost shiny. Really beautiful and not a ton of detritus mixed in. It arrived quickly in secure packaging. Remember it's rocks though so the 'by weight' measurements might throw you off a bit. It's probably 2.5 cups of material per bag if that helps. I needed two full bags for the two smallish terrariums I have. Worth it though, it's stunning!

Happy with this product, I just wish that there was more in the bag.
This blend of stone has nice colors. Just a thin layer over the dirt changes the whole look of my potted succulents, and makes them look more decorative. Mixed with some perlite and sand, it also makes a nice growing medium for lithops seeds. It was fairly dusty, but when misted with water the dust rinses off and the colors show more nicely. I wish the bag had more for the price but it only takes a thin layer to look good. I would buy again and plan to also try some of the other blends offered by this company.

Does The Job
When I bought these, I had originally planned on filling my small succulent pots completely with the stones (the succulents are fake), so I ordered 2 bags. As some other reviewers noted, you really don't get very much per bag, so I ended up filling the pots with sand and using the stones as a top layer only (which I believe is what they are for anyway). I did rinse them when they arrived, and they ended up looking very nice. I would buy them again, but I wish the package was bigger.
