Kimagure Orange Road Complete OVA Series & Movie

I am the same exact age as the 3 main characters (yes I am old). Perhaps because of that, this anime holds a special place in my heart. Overall, this anime is considered one of the best anime of all time, and watching it now as an adult is even BETTER than when I first watched it as a college student.Created in the golden age of anime (1980s to early 1990s), this anime is about a sweet love triangle of teenagers. Even though the ending is undeniably sad (such is the inevitability of a love triangle), the anime's depiction of the romantic experience the three characters during the height of their youth is simply magical. As an adult, I realize nothing is permanent, everything is ephemeral, and it is the sweet memories that we choose to remember in the end."I just dance to the sweet memories...even though scarred...I would cherish forever".This anime has aged remarkably well. I thought it would be a childish tacky anime of teenage romance. I was wrong. Watching it as an adult, only now I realize the deep profoundness of this anime. The teenage romance is the most deep, sincere, passionate romance that most of us goes through. When was the last time you had a crush on someone with no inhibitions or strings attached? Probably when you were a teen or early 20s. :)The creators of this anime understood the magic of the teenage years and captured it beautifully in both anime and music. As one of the song lyrics say:Hold me againTime never waitsEven when I plead to stopPasses daily like the cloudsHold me againAs we drift towards separate waysI would never forgetThat moment in the skyIn my heart foreverFinally, this anime is also hilariously funny, and the visual and musical media have been remastered and they look and sound better than ever. I highly recommend this anime especially to those who have seen this anime before.

This is by far one of my favorite anime. It also does a rare thing with a romantic comedy, and close out conclusively. It doesn't drag out any longer than it has to, or have a lot of repeat loops of misunderstandings or other standard tropes.The age shows a little, bit that is mainly in the audio and music has some trace elements of age. The pacing is at just the right amount of plot advancement, though there are a handful of episodes that have filler feel. Which given the source material, the manga, it is handled well (I personally felt the manga had too many repeat plots).On the overall, this is one not to miss. It really set the stage for anime love triangle comedies to follow.

With set 2, Diskotek completes Kimagure Orange Road on Blu-ray. This is one of my very favorite series from the 1980s, hopefully those curious to find out why and purchase it will agree as well.

I've watched this series many times on old vhs tapes and dvd sets but this box set is a god-send. I can't believe how clean it is when I watched the first episode. The quality blew my mind. The audio is amazing too. I can't be anymore satisfied. Brings back so many good memories about the old days of anime. They don't make series like these nowadays.

Great see it in high definition..the serie Blu-ray is better but no regrets..waiting for the second movie to finish the collection

I remember when Netflix Japan aired Kimagure Orange Road in HD back in September 2017, I just knew this would get a Blu-ray release. It was only a matter of time. When Discotek announced the license for KOR in August 2018 (at Otakon). I jumped for joy. The video quality on the KOR OVA / Movie Blu-ray is superb. The audio is about the same as the DVDs. There are extras on the discs: Trailers. etc. Don't just sit there, order this NOW!

個人的に最高のアニメ映画だと思っている『あの日にかえりたい』。日本国内では版権の問題なのか、原作者の意向なのか？DVD化されていません。仕方がないので台湾盤のDVDを購入したのですが、リージョンフリーのプレイヤーを常に所有しなければならず少し不満がありました。今回のBDは日本国内のプレイヤーでも見れるリージョンなのでストレスが解消されました。映像のクオリティは文句無し！DVDより良くなっています。作品内容は三角関係に結論を出し、「新きまぐれ」へのプロローグとも言える内容なので新きまぐれを見る前にチェックすべき！本来、オレンジロードは横浜が舞台だと思っていたが「あの日に」は舞台景観が埼玉寄りの東京になっていた点が少しモヤモヤしますが…。オレンジロードファンの中でも賛否のわかれる同作ですが、まだ見たことのない人には一度、見てほしい作品です。

素晴らしい！すでにテレビ版のコンプリートBlu-rayは持っていたのですが、国内DVDと比べても画質が良いです、昔の作品を高画質にした時に出る、モスキートノイズは出ていますが、それでも国内DVD版に比べれば圧倒的高画質です。ま、それは普通に洋画などでも昔の作品をBlu-ray用に書き出してるのは同じノイズが見られますので仕方ない部分でしょうね。すでに国内DVD版も所持していますが。見る"と言う観点で言えばコレで十分な気がします。家にあるプレイヤーやゲーム機で複数台試しましたが、問題なく再生出来ました。ですが年々より複雑にならざるを得ないコピーガードにより、いつどの作品でどの機器との組み合わせで再生トラブルが起きるかわからない時代なので再生機器はいくつかあると良いかもですね。

1巻にはTV版、2巻にはOVAと劇場版が収録されており、両方揃えれば「きまぐれオレンジ☆ロード」はコンプリート!!と言いたいところだが、OVAには「ジャンプスペシャルアニメ」が未収録、劇場版には「新きまぐれオレンジ☆ロードそして、あの夏のはじまり」が未収録となっており、実際には片手落ちも甚だしい。特に後者は劇場版「あの日にかえりたい」の直系の続編であり、これを収録せずに何が完全版かと思ってしまう。こういったなまじ中途半端なコンプリ－トコレクションを出すことは、逆に未収録作品が後の世に出ることを阻害する行為につながる訳であり、文化遺産としての観点でみれば嘆かわしいことこの上ない。商品の企画コンセプトはさておき、収録作品としては、TV版の後日談に当たる後期OVA8作品と、劇場版第1作「あの日にかえりたい」が収録されている。前者は国内でもDVDBOXの形で販売されたことがあるが、後者は原作者の意向とやらで現存する映像メディアでは販売されないばかりか、CS再放送や各種動画サービスからも抹消されており、事実上幻の作品となってしまっている。作品の成り立ちや、原作の世界観を壊す点を考慮して、なかったことにしたい、という原作者様の気持ちはわからなくはないが、事実として世に出てしまったものは、例えその出自や性格がどうあれ、なかったことにはできないのである。当時、金を出して映画館までゆき、違和感や行き通りを感じつつも、それに怒り涙したファンの気持ちをなかったことにされてはたまらない。とんだ焚書坑儒である。その劇場版をしっかり収録してくれていること自体は素直に評価できる。その続編が未収録なことは噴飯極まりないにせよ。BDとしては国内プレイヤーでも問題なく再生でき、音声・字幕も日本語・非表示にできるため、視聴面では全く支障はない。ちなみに肝心の劇場版の内容については、本編のスラップスティックなドタバタラブコメどころか超能力の欠片も出てこず、当時流行のトレンディドラマばりに理不尽で一方的で偽善的なドロドロの三角関係が描かれており、原作ファンが見ると心をヤスリで削られるので気を付けてほしい。なお未収録の劇場版第2作については、その悲劇的な結末の続編とは思えない、超能力ありドタバタありエッチありの「いかにも」な作品になっているが、こちらは海外でもいまだBD化されていない。

「きまぐれオレンジ★ロード あの日にかえりたい」がずっとDVDになるのを○○年待っていました。もう販売はされないだろうなぁと諦めつつもネットで調べていて、ようやく見つけたこの商品。不安もありましたが、購入しました。そして・・・購入は正解でした。自分の記憶では、レンタルVHSで見たのが最後で、LDの画質は見たことがありません。今回、○○年ぶりにBDでみて、もう感動！当時の絵のタッチのままですが、それでも十分映りが良い。PCで、24インチの液晶モニターで見ています。そして・・・見れないままでいるより、見れるほうがいい・・・ということで、買って正解でした(^^Vさあ、続けてOVAを見ようっと！
