the gathering storm
I'm not surprised there are no reviews as yet. customers are probably still trying to get over the shock of price over content.I have not purchased this kindle book. But I have just finished reading it on paper. It took approx. 15 hours. I found it entertaining, frustrating, heartening and saddening. Even taking into account that it is one man's view of a situation by which he both suffered and benefited, I think there is enough evidence elsewhere to justify the majority of his text. And even some glaring omissions. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. With the exception of the final chapters, dealing with Britain's entry into war and Churchill's place in the cabinet, which might be considered over-detailed and wordy by some, myself included. Nevertheless had the attraction that they were written by someone who enjoyed what he was doing and wanted to share that enthusiasm with everyone else. Surely 2hrs 46 mins is an abridgment to far. What lucky thing has been left in, I wonder. I am not prepared to pay to find out.

Dreadful Production
Very interesting content and very well read BUT Oh dear! For some unaccountable reason someone thought it would be a good idea to include music. Quite inappropriate. Worse - the music is sometimes so loud it is almost impossible to hear the reader. Having bought the six audible volumes I thanked heaven Audible accepted returns. Do not buy these volumes.

Condensed version? Amazon should clarify!
A previous reviewer asks “How is it that a book which in physical form constitutes some 750 pages became a mere 2 hr 45 min audible selection?” Answer: this seems to be a condensed version of the original Volume 1. Not a bad idea, but the way it’s advertised is misleading.
