I like Brother inkjet printers because they offer the least expensive OEM (original equipment manufacturer) cartridges of all the major brands (e.g., HP, Canon, Epson, Lexmark & Brother) while providing good print quality. As with many of you, I was tempted early on to use the least expensive replacement ink cartridges that I could find. These substitute cartridges worked OK in the short haul. In the long haul, however, for multiple brands of printers, I found myself having to run the print head cleaner cycle more & more frequently with continued degrading of print quality. For just about every printer where I used inexpensive replacement ink cartridges, I had to eventually replace the print head or get a new printer. My conclusion is that use of non-OEM printer cartridges over the long term reduces the life of the print head. I now have two Brother printers. My first one, where I have been using Brother OEM cartridges exclusively, is now over 10 years old and I have not any problems with degrading print quality or the print head. I cannot say the same for the other printers I have owned where I used inexpensive non-OEM print cartridges. I intend to follow the same plan of using only OEM cartridges (LC1003) in my new Brother printer. Unless you do regular broad spectrum color printing, certain colors will tend to be printed more than others. This is why you want to have a printer where the color cartridges can be replaced separately. It follows that you then purchase cartridges only for the colors that you use up. It is more cost effective, however, to purchase the 3 packs of the color cartridges. For me, it means that I may have a extra 1 or 2 yellow cartridges, which is the least used color for my printing purposes.

Been using brother ink for years and we’ve had no problem with it. It lasts us a long time. I used it in college and now I’m using it for homeschooling and it lasts a long time. I’ve used the Walmart generic and the printer can never detect the cartridge so these brand ones are great. I think they are a great value and cost friendly.

We received a Brother Wi-Fi AirPrint printer a few years ago from my sister-in-law and it works great with iPads and other Apple products. You just have to make sure if you have four Wi-Fi signals coming from your router, you’re on the same network as the printer. We have had other printers like Epson and Hewlett-Packard, but this brother printer is the first one we’ve had that’s Wi-Fi. It’s very easy to use with our IPads. My only issue with the Brother printer is that we don’t print as much as we use to and the prices of the cartridges are more expensive than the other printers we have owned. I buy the extra capacity type and they don’t seem to last any longer than the regular capacity cartridges. My sister-in-law has the exact same printer and uses it daily and she’s always buying ink cartridges for hers as well. It’s a great printer and easy to use, but the ink cartridges are not as cheap as our other printers. When we got these, there wasn’t a lot of these Wi-Fi printers on the market yet. We also got a good deal as she purchased a new All In One computer and the printers were part of the deal she made with the salesperson. So we got ours for a Christmas present. These are cheaper here than other places that I’ve purchased the cartridges from in the past. I’ve paid as much as $70.00 for the complete set of four in the past.
