Gamma Ray Computer Blue Light Blocking Gaming Glasses w/Amber Tint and Anti Glare UV Digital Eyestrain

Arrived early. Hard case included. I SERIOUSLY love these reading glasses. I’ve only been wearing reading glasses for about a year. After being gullible and spending $400 on my first pair of “prescription” glasses, I finally realized my “prescription” was only magnification. For which inexpensive “readers” work fine. So I spent several months trying out random cheap readers from Amazon or Readers.com. After buying about 30 different pairs of mostly crappily made, poorly fitting glasses ranging from $2-$150 a pair, these are BY FAR my favorites. YAY! Finally. Just so we are talking about the same product: I ordered the "Gamma Ray Flexlite GR OR-003 Computer Readers, Shatterproof Memory Flex Anti UV, AntiBlueRay, AntiGlare,Scratch Resist Lens,+1.25 Power" They are very light weight and comfortable. I am an acupuncturist, so my vision is essential, when not working with patients, I sit in front of the computer or read a lot of paperwork and journals. For the first time I feel like I found a pair that can do it all. The wide depth of field allows me to easily read the patient’s chart (close up) and yet also see my patients clearly during the intake conversation (4-6 ft away). The non-glare coating is especially excellent and appreciated when I do video conference calls. On video calls I am often sitting in front of my computer if I have typical reading glasses on (with out an anti-glare coating), other folks on the call can't see my eyes at all due to glare off my computer screen, but with these glasses, my facial expressions come through much better, and I think that improves the nonverbal communication. Which is a big reason for having the video component of these conference calls. The lenses have a VERY slight tint to them, a warm amber tone, which I assume cuts some of the blue wavelengths of the white light spectrum. I don’t think the tint is generally noticeable tint to others. And I don’t really feel like it distorts the color of things I am looking at (maybe warms up tones a bit, but not in a distortional way). To others, doesn’t look like I am wearing sunglasses. I do feel like these glasses reduce eye fatigue, especially when working on the computer. I am so glad I tried these! They are really a god send. The only draw back is that the arms are a bit long for my head and if I have been wearing the glasses for a really long time like 12+ hours, I have noticed I feel some pressure points over my ears. But it’s very minor, and it hasn’t detracted from me still rating them as my favorite glasses so far.

Cheap, utilitarian, hard to break, and they cling to your head. I feel confident wearing these outside (at night) or driving simply because the frame is cheap and therefore more sturdy. Perhaps this is due to my head size but it's also difficult for these glasses to accidentally fall off. In terms of the blue light part, they seem to do all the good filtering stuff so I'll leave that out of the review. I will add a note about cleaning these... I have multiple pairs of these glasses. One of them I accidentally tried to clean with a microfiber rag/towel (the kind of cloth with a grainy texture as opposed to small flat cloths used for wiping lenses). The rag itself had accumulated dust inside its crevices due to me having used it to clean other surfaces. Maybe this was a newbie mistake but I used it wipe the lens and to my horror discovered that I had scratched the coating on the lens considerably. I have not really discovered the same effect when using the smooth, flat microfiber cloths (such as MagicFiber) to clean the lenses. This probably because the weaving of these optical microfiber cloths are more flat, which disallow enough lateral friction or “grip” to actually push bits of dust against the lens itself. With my second pair I tried cleaning the lenses with the standard method of using my fingertips, tap water, and hand/dish soap, and I found that a lot of the anti-reflective coating had worn off within the span of a few days. Ultimately my suggestion for actually cleaning these glasses is pretty simple: don't clean them often. If you do have to move some dust off the lens, do so gently and apply only “lateral” pressure, as opposed to compressing the lens. In other words, only clean your lenses every now and then, and only clean them with a view towards moving some dust off the lens. When I clean I always use a flat/smooth microfiber cloth, the kind advertised for cleaning lenses or optical surfaces, not the kind that looks more like a small rag that is advertised for cleaning cars or whatever. I also clean the lenses when dry, I do not wet them. This is probably against the advice of the Internet, but I don't care. Even back with my first pair, where I would clean every day, I'd use a flat microfiber cloth, dry, against the lens, but didn't find any severe smudging. The severe scratching only occurred with the rag. The orthodox water-and-soap cleaning also removed the coating entirely. So I'd suggest the middle way of occasional dry cleaning with a flat cloth, purely for removing dust.

I purchased the Gamma Ray Computer Blue Light Blocking Gaming Reading Glasses with Amber Tint and Anti Glare UV Digital Eyestrain protection, and I must say I'm quite pleased with my purchase. These glasses have made a noticeable difference in my comfort while working on my computer and reading for extended periods. I love these glasses. I recommend them to everyone I know that works on computers all day. When I was ~22 yrs old I realized my right eye was getting weaker than my left eye. I had always had 20-20 vision until then, and was a graphic design student going into the web design / development field, which meant that I NEED to have good vision to be able to do my job for the next 40 years haha. Since I now work in the web design / development field, my initial concern with these was whether this would affect my ability to see colors properly while wearing them. The lenses are tinted of course, so it stands to reason that everything on my screen would be tinted. That's not the case though. The tint is a VERY mild sepia tone, and after wearing the glasses for a couple minutes my eyes adjust and I don't notice it any longer. Over time, my eyes are able to relax from the reduced overall brightness of white pages on my screen. Over a period of a full work day, that's a lot less eye strain. I rarely have sore eyes after work now. If I ever DO think the tint is interfering with how I'm perceiving my screen's color, I simply remove them to get a clearer look, and put them back on after. Easy, and worth the minor minor hassle. The image I uploaded hopefully helps you compare a white page (on Amazon, actually) to what the same page looks like through the lenses. Pardon my quick, ugly Photoshopping haha. I'm aware that the "white" browser page I'm referencing in the image isn't color corrected to ACTUALLY be true white, and is actually a bit gray, but I didn't want to alter the color of the image since it's a pretty good representation of the lighting in my office. Again, after wearing the glasses for a few minutes, I do NOT notice the tinting of the lenses. I recommend everyone who works on a computer uses these. Not just for computer screen brightness, but also for harsh office lights. I use a soft light desk lamp in my office to reduce harsh overhead office lighting, but these glasses help further the reduction of harshness. Walking around the office area with these on is comfortable and unobtrusive, and my girlfriend actually tells me these look better on me than corrective lenses I got from my eye doctor (referring back to my weaker right eye). For less than $25 you really can't go wrong. Your eyes are worth it.

II was going to give these glasses 4 star rating, but changed my mind. The reason for rhe initial decision of 4 stars is that I ordered the large pair, and I was expecting something larger. That said, I do have quite a large head, to be fair. Also, I should clarify that they fit fine, no issue there. Specifically, I'm referring to the glass, the front part in which you view through. They don't squeeze the side of my head and do fit on my ears comfortably. They don't deserve to have a star deducted on account of preference. I knew the dimensions, and didn't do my homework to know I wanted larger. That's my fault, not the company's. Quality is good. They come with nice case, solid. Includes a soft cleaning towel, as well. For the price, you can't complain, at all. Pay for the $40, $50, whichever more expensive pair you find, if you want. Honestly, though, I don't believe its necessary, or even advisable. These glasses do a great job at blocking out the harmful blue light. They look good, too, really. Everybody will just think you bought some stylish glasses. If you're looking for an affordable pair of glasses that not only block that harmful blue light from computer monitors, mobile phones, etc., and are still stylish, look no further. This company has nailed the marriage of functionality with style, beautifully. Do yourself a favor, add to cart, place order. They're worth it, 100%

First Thoughts: I was a bit hesitant when I first considered buying these, but I was in some real pain.I spend most of my time basking in the radiation output from large, flat-screen LCD monitors. Whether I'm playing video games, watching a movie, or surfing the information superhighway, point is I basically live at my computer. So naturally I encounter an ungodly amount of eye strain and massive headaches and by the end of the day my eye are so bloodshot red that it looks like I've been hanging out with Gandalf smoking the finest pipe-weed in all the shire, this makes my nights horrific as I can't sleep due to the pain. These glasses are a godsend! I no longer suffer from any, I repeat, ANY Redness, dry eyes, irritation, or headaches. So now I can keep on gaming without any breaks! From popping some zed heads in Killing Floor with a Mark23 to pooping on some noobs on 2Fort in Team Fortress 2. If you are at all experiencing any eye related issues from some heavy gaming or PC'ing these glasses are for you! The Look: These look really sleek in black, I've gotten some complements wearing these bad boys. Can you find some better looking ones? Sure, but you'll be paying $80+ for some Gunnars that honestly have the same functionality, and IMHO are not worth the extra coin. Case & Cloth: The case, when I first received it, had a strong chemical odor. But this dissipated in the few days I had it and it seems like a fairly standard glasses case so no worries from a protection standpoint. The Cleaning Cloth included is another story however. In short - its garbage and your gonna buy a new one as it doesn't really clean the lenses to well. Final Verdict/ TL:DR: After owning these glasses for roughly a week they continue to work and keep my eyes in gaming shape when I need them the most. I highly recommend them to everyone looking to relieve eye related issues from computers, gaming, etc etc. for a reasonable price. 5/5 stars would most definitely buy again if I ever lose or break these. If you're like me, you're probably wondering whether these glasses really do anything they claim. I was looking into these because I spend 8-9 hours at a computer for work, then typically go home and play video games for the remainder of the day. Yeah, my eyes were pretty dry and itchy a lot of the time. I've been using these glasses on & off for about a month now. They work better in some places than others. I can only guess that it's due to the lighting. Fortunately, my office is the place they seem to work the best. I didn't notice until after I'd been wearing these a while, and then took them off, exactly how harsh our office lighting is. So, I can tell you that they do work - but don't expect a miracle. My eyes aren't noticeably less red, but they HAVE been less dry and less itchy. Enough so that I'm thankful for these glasses. That said, these are one-size-fits-most glasses. They're a bit tight on my face - enough to occasionally give me headaches and leave marks on the bridge of my nose. So if you have a larger head, you may want to avoid. If you're interested in these kinds of glasses, my overall recommendation is to start here - they're cheap and functional, if a little uncomfortable. Then, when you've established whether they'll work for your situation, look into a more customized solution.

Here's a review I wrote for my site, but I'll just copy and paste it here too. After hours of computer usage, I noticed that my eyes would begin to strain against the bright light of the screen. Particularly in the morning and at night, the strain is worse and my eyes would become dry and tired. It wasn't so bad that it was a chronic symptom, but it was still an annoyance that I realized could seriously damage my eyes in the long run. I downloaded a free application called f.lux and it did a great job in dimming the screen and easing some of the eye strain, but I found the color change to be a little strange, I wanted something that could be used throughout the whole day (f.lux can be set for the daytime, but I'd rather not have a red screen forever), and I wanted a physical solution to the harmful rays. I've seen screen shields you can mount to your monitor, but they would only fit that particular screen size and not work for any other device. All this pretty much adds up to a pair of computer glasses. I initially looked at the popular Gunnar brand but as soon as I saw the pricetags, I looked away. The cheapest pair I could find was $80, but you can find occasional sales on Woot that drop certain designs to about $35. Also, I found their designs to be kind of lame for computer wear - though they may look cool with the aviator designs and secret agent styles, I could not imagine myself wearing them without looking like a total dork working on a computer. So I looked around elsewhere and I found this Gamma Ray brand on Amazon. They've got 6 different styles (and they look pretty standard so you do too), some with another color option, and are at a much happier price of $25 and under. I got the GR003 model, shown above, and it was $19.99 when I bought it. It comes with a nice and sturdy glasses case, along with a cleaning cloth. It barely fits comfortably on my head - meaning if it were any bit tighter, it would be a bad fit. I think I have a pretty regular sized head, but I still have to pull the arms just a little bit apart to put it on. It has ended up as a good thing though, because now it fits super snugly on my head and even vigorous shaking and looking straight down at the floor won't even cause the glasses to budge or fall (don't have to worry about it falling into the toilet when I look down to pee). The fit just happens to work for me and it sits fairly comfortably without it getting in the way. The description mentions that the frame is made of a "lightweight and flexible Beta Memory Polymer" and even provides a picture of it bending and squishing like crazy. From what I see though, it seems to be like any regular lightweight hard plastic and it is slightly flexible. I'll bend it about a centimeter at most, but would not dare to attempt what the picture shows. A problem I found with this material is the oil, which appears very easily. Oil pretty much just sits on the plastic, particularly on the lenses which is plastic as well; wiping it with the cloth alone will not really help get rid of it and will only push it around. I found this to be the biggest issue but it actually won't affect your vision as long as you wipe away the big smudges. It's actually crystal clear and the lenses are scratch proof as well. But now onto the functionality - did this really help with the eye strain? At first it seemed like just an unassuming pair of lightly tinted glasses. There is a slight magnification and the tint will no longer be noticable after a few minutes of wear. They claim that blue light, which is natural during daylight, is emitted through the screens and is the main cause of stress on your eyeballs, and these glasses will reflect that. When held up, the reflection I see off the lens is blue and purple, so I guess it's working. The big surprise is when you take them off. That's when I noticed how big of a difference the glasses actually made in helping dim the screen. That's also when I realized how much effort my eyes would have to make to squint for such a long period if I didn't wear the glasses. With the glasses, I noticed my eyes have eased up a significant amount. Even though my eye strain wasn't particularly bad, it is pretty much gone now and I am much more comfortable looking at the screen. This product provided the solution to my eye strain worries and is great for anyone who stares at computers, tvs, etc. for a very long time. Also I don't look like a complete dork while wearing this particular style. My girlfriend even complimented on how they look on me, which is something I have never heard her say before. The only problems I found were the annoying traces of oil and that the fit may not be perfect for everyone, but at this price and given how the product works well I think those things are easily brushed away. I never go on the computer without wearing these glasses and I think I'll be using them for a very long time to come. Also tried this with the Prime free trial, and received it the very next morning after ordering it in the late afternoon the day before!

Worthy product to purchase

These are great quality/value for the money! They completely stopped the eye strain I had been feeling when looking at screens for an extended period of time. But most importantly, they are tough! I bought 2 other similarly priced glasses on Amazon and they both fell apart in a few weeks... Whereas these have been holding up strong for months, very happy with these glasses!

As I am spending some hours in from of the laptop, I've decided to buy this Gamma Ray Glasses.
