YiHua 862BD Rework Station is well conceived, well made, versatile, compact, and worth the money
YiHua's Rework Station (862BD) I purchased one on sale for $100. I was not expecting it to be a professional quality device... I was wrong. Aside from the quality of the components, it performs well and has everything a rework station needs to be useful. I've used it on SMD and thru-hole component fixes and am impressed with the stability of the temperatures produced by the control systems. Non-volatile memories are provided for temperatures (C and F), and operating functions. Having 3 power switches (one overall, and one each for surface, thru-hole, function) makes the station safer and avoids wasted power. Heats fast... solder in ~30 seconds (575F). Setting temperature and airflow for SMD work is a snap. Choose from 4 nozzles to direct air over an appropriate area... YiHua also supplies the nozzles and a quality tweezer! Also supplied are 6 iron tips, solder and an iron stand with tip cleaner... they thought of everything. I don't think I could want more. Impressive for the price. As usual, Amazon provided the marketplace and shipped to me in 3 days at no additional charge... I'm a happy Prime customer!

Great piece of kit that works well
Well made and versatile soldering station. I bought this for my grandson because I have the exact kit for several years and I love it. My hobbies include guitar and amp repair and this handles that with ease. Surface mount components require the hot air gun and this delivers the goods.

Excellent Quality And Function!
This is a good hot air and solder rework station! It comes with the goodies shown in the Amazon pictures. Excellent value. One thing to remember is to check the spacing on these pin terminals and the orientation before trying to hook it up. These pins are small and can bend easily and usually that's not an issue. Some of my pins pins on the hot air device were slightly out of alignment and it would not couple. I looked at the orientation...very specific...and saw a slight misalignment. I corrected the issue and it installed easily. If you try to force it, you will further bend or even break some pins. This is general advice and true with compact pin connections. The air flow and temperature is easily adjustable. The solder station is easily adjustable too. I love this instrument! It's definitely worth buying. My second photo shows the goodies in the box...It wasn't jumbled up when I got it...I was excited to see everything! The unit feels very solid and quality built.

Perfect for those starting out
I've had this machine for years, and it's awesome and have served me well as a beginner. I have 2 workshops now and needed a second machine to fill the other location, so I ordered another one on 10/26/2025. The new machine's hot air gun didn't screw in properly to the rework station, and the fan blew once at initial startup before never working again despite the heating element retains functionality. The soldering station & solder wand works perfect, however. Not sure if I got a dud, but the experience wasn't great as I have to repack & return the new one. I think I'll take this chance to try out other machines. I will still recommend this rework/soldering station to beginners, as it is a fantastic machine given the value proposition!

Everything I wanted in a station
After using my normal soldering iron for normal automotive wire junctions, I decided to purchase the YIHUA 862BD and xw99 rosin flux. I am no expert by any means. But considering I have wanted to venture into the repair of old video game consoles, I decided to look for a nicer soldering set up. I needed to fix a motherboard on an HVAC unit before I could venture into console boards. I had some issues with my old soldering iron since it had no tempeture control and the tips were cheap. As soon as this arrived, I immediately attempted to fix my hvac motherboard, I had nothing to loose. I am beyond impressed with this unit. The temperature settings were amazing. A really easy set up and I wish I would’ve bought one sooner. I was hesitant to dive into fixing a PlayStation, but after seeing the quality and precision of this workstation, I feel I’m ready. I saved hundreds of dollars that would have gone to a new hvac board by buying this station. If you’re looking for a quality station, I would highly recommend.

Boom-Zap-Bang (Blue Smoke) Free Replacement - Works like a dream!!
I read some of the reviews and was a little skeptical about making this purchase at first, but the price point and the quality reivews on some YouTube channels convinced me to give it a shot. When the unit first arrived I plugged it into the wall and turned it on from the switch in the back, without even powering up the rest of the unit. It immediately blew my GFI breaker. So I reset the breaker and tried again. Same thing. I tried to isolate it on the GFI circuit and tried again. Same thing. So I tried a completely different GFI circuit, again isolating it and same thing. So I tried a 3rd GFI circuit and isolate it. Same deal. So I ran an extension cord into my kitchen and plugged it into the high power outlet that is not on a GFI breaker. This time the unit powered up. I tested the soldering iron and it seemed to work fine. So I switched over and tested the heater blower and when I lifted the unit out of its holder the whole unit made a LOUD POP sound and sparked with blue smoke. The unit would not turn on after that. I contacted support and they set me up with a free replacement immediately. So I packed up the unit as best I could in most of the original packaging. They had UPS come straight to my door for pickup service. Once the unit was in transit they immediately shipped me a replacement unit. Once I got it, I plugged it in and it worked like a dream! I was able to use it all day Sunday building out a power-signal junction board as seen in the photo. I am really happy with their support and responsiveness and promptness. You can tell the unit is really professionally built. It does the job very well and I'm able to work faster, solder more precisely and with better accuracy! They have replacement parts generally available. I highly recommend this unit!!

Impressive Soldering Station for Beginners, but Consider Upgrading the Solder Wire
I recently purchased this soldering station, and it has truly impressed me with its exceptional performance, all while being incredibly budget-friendly—an ideal choice for beginners. The soldering iron is top-notch, providing a hassle-free experience when working with SMD components. The included iron tips held up admirably, adding to the overall quality of the kit. Moreover, the air gun's performance deserves special mention. It proved invaluable, particularly when reflowing an elite Pi microcontroller. However, I must note that the included solder wire is lead-free, which can be more challenging to work with due to its higher melting point. For an easier and more efficient soldering experience, I highly recommend considering an upgrade to a product like Kester solder wire. It can make your soldering projects a million times smoother. In summary, this soldering station offers remarkable performance at a price that's perfect for beginners. While it's an outstanding value, you might want to invest in better solder wire for a truly exceptional soldering experience.

day 1 report: excellent quality and a great product
this review is my own, i did not receive anything, no discounts, no compensation, nothing. i bought this with my own money to use professionally and personally. i plan to update this review if things change. here is my unboxing and day 1 experience: 1. the quality of the packaging, and the product itself are very good. i was really impresserd when opening it. well packed and everything seemed very very solid. 2. first steps. there is really only one or two things to assemble. the holder for the air gun. and the air gun tips (note: be careful all the screws and nuts for the air gun tip collars were NOT attached and when i opened the baggie i got to spend 10 minutes playing "where did the nut go" on my hands and knees. assembly took 3 minutes search and rescuse notwithstanding. 3. top tip: there is a power switch on the back. dont panic, its working fine you just didnt turn it on 4. hot air gun initial thoughts: heats very fast, auto mode is a switch inside the gun itself that notices when its inverted. its SLOW enough that if you wave it around or something it wont immediately go cold, but fast enough that you can put it in the holder confidently. nice feature. cant see a reason to NOT use auto at the moment. gun heated to 700 degrees in less than 10 seconds. didnt use a temp probe yet but confirmed by tinning a wire with some 60/40 solder. flowed easily. maybe one tiny tiny downside is the gun is attached permanently whereas the soldering wand has a quick disconnect... 5. soldering wand initial thoughts. the base is very nice, solid powdered coated. there is a quick disconnect plug on the wand. its comfortable in the hand, comes with an easy to remove tip and a nice assortment of other tips. heated to 575 degrees in maybe 5 seconds, and then i turned up to 700 degrees and it caught up in maybe another 5 or 10 seconds max. this thing is super fast to heat up. 6. accessories: surprisingly decent tweezer. nice assortment of gun and wand tips. very generously sized flux and brass sponge tip cleaning tub. chincy but fine chip lifter. i'll be putting this to some serious tests very soon and will update as i do. so far I am very very satisfied with initial impressions, cost, and quality. 5 stars across the board today. 5.
