absolutely indispensable (unless you dispense of it like I did)
I used one of these for many years and lost it. Bought another one...absolutely indispensable (unless you dispense of it like I did). I have used many other pin vises and none compare to this one. Construction is solid, the diameter is large enough to get a good hold but not overly large as to not be suitable for tiny pin work, holds strong,....Love it love it love it.

It has runout!
I had one of these years ago. It worked great, I lost it so I purchased this one. It has runout! WHAT? The axis of the pin vise is not aligned to the axis of the handle. I don't know why. I use these for tapping plastic so having that runout is a huge wet blanket.

Worth the price
I'm a machinist and I use these for hand deburring and chasing intersecting holes with drill bits. They're expensive but worth every penny if you're in the trade.

High quality pin vise
This pin vise works, looks and is built great but it's a little expensive.

I bought this device to hold tungsten electrodes while sharpening ...
I bought this device to hold tungsten electrodes while sharpening.Grips the tungsten tightly and doesn't vibrate loose which was my issue with other pin vises. Has a sort of storage area in the end cap but the internals are not blocked from the jaws.Bulky for this purpose being about 1 inch in diameter making it difficult to spin and rotate against a grinder but still gets the job done.

Shaviv pin vise
The problem with this pin vise is two fold. The first issue is that on the smaller drill bits, 1mm to 2mm, this vise clamps most firmly at the tip with little to no support for most of the drill bit further inside the chuck. This results in a bit that is at an angle once it is chucked in the vise. The second issue is that the drill bits are not on dead center when the chuck is closed. When I removed the chuck cap it was apparent that there is not a good structure inside the chuck to keep the three jaws of the vise parallel as the chuck is tightened.
