I bought two of these for my newly remodeling (complete overhaul down to sanding the floors) living room. These curio cabinets turned out great.I'm not sure why everyone claims that the instructions were difficult to comprehend. Sure they weren't in color or a mini-booklet, but what do you expect? A couple pages listing the enclosed parts and a couple pages listing slightly more than a half-a-dozen steps. They weren't perfect but they surely were legible enough to make it completed successfully.The only challenging part was putting the back piece of glass together with the sides in the hard plastic sleeves. I tried attempting it myself, but later had my fiance assist me with the three pieces of glass to ensure I wouldn't accidentally break anything. Let's face it, three large panes of glass become quite heavy and since we only have two hands, it was a mild challenge to go at it alone. HINT: I would recommend putting the back piece together with one side first, outside of the base (such as on a solid surface - ceramic tile or hardwood floor). Once the two pieces are connected and snug, place them into the base, then slow drop in the second side into the sleeve.Once I finished the first once, I decided to go at it alone with the second curio (no help from the fiance), I had no problems with finishing the second one myself (since I learned how to do it without breaking from the first curio).\Product is quite excellent for the price. A pretty great deal if you ask me. These could easily compare at $300-$500 or more in price depending what stores you research.Coaster Furniture makes some really nice pieces. I would highly recommend their products to anyone. Shipping was great, super-fast and came in excellent packaging to prevent damage (let's face it, these things weight like 140-150 pounds in the box). Getting them to the destination without damaged glass is definitely a priority for them. They did it with perfection.Thank you for the beautiful curio cabinets guys!!! A++

It took them a week to ship it, but once it finally shipped, it arrived in just a few days.It was well-packaged and undamaged. No parts were missing.The package was left outside my door, which was perfect because it is extremely heavy (89lbs) and was difficult for me to drag just a few inches into my apartment as a single female.I bought this because I live 5 hours away from an Ikea store and the shipping fees are outrageous.Because it's so heavy, it's better to assemble it closely to where you intend to put it. You won't be moving this thing around easily.My detolf sits on carpet. I used the feet. It's very stable, only things like an earthquake might knock it over.The assembly instructions aren't fantastic, but they're ok. Read the other user comments for the best assembly tips.One thing I found easier to do was to slide all of the glass panels into the plastic strips before putting them into the frame. When I tried to add the plastic strips with the glass panels in the frame, it was too difficult.The door can be installed to open in either direction, but just be careful to invert all door pieces properly if you decide to do the opposite direction of the instructions because once you use the adhesives etc you can't move them again. I did it the opposite way and it worked out great.I intend to store my anime figure collection in this, but its pretty sturdy and could handle some fairly heavy stuff.I'm really impressed by this product and don't feel any desire to order a detolf from Ikea unless they get rid of shipping fees OR build a store nearby.

I was going to buy an IKEA display case, but nearest store is close to 3 hours from me and shipping is insane ($349 for a $60 case?). Spent a few days looking across sites and the reviews (and price) on this one were persuasive enough to order one for the purpose of displaying my 1/6 scale figures (Sideshow, Hot Toys, Ignore, DC Direct, etc.).Arrived very quickly (even delivered on Saturday when I just got the Prime 2 day shipping). Box was a bit beat up, but seemed pretty well packaged. Despite the warnings here, I decided to put it together myself (wife's family was visiting...).As others have mentioned, the directions are pretty poor - barely sufficient, but poor. A couple of points:1. Make sure you pick the proper base rather than the top to start with (the base has extra screw holes on the bottom for the plastic feet).2. Be sure to distinguish between the glass that goes on the back and the glass that is the door. They are both wider than the side pieces, but the door is SHORTER. Don't make the mistake I did and use the door as the back and then wonder why it wasn't fitting into the grooves correctly.....3. At least if doing this yourself, I found that it was easier to attach the bottom panel and then the top panel BEFORE messing with the glass. If you keep the top panel LOOSE it will allow the piece to stand (in a wobbly fashion) without the glass - you can then slip the back glass into the bottom's groove and attach the side glass pieces while the unit stands. This worked pretty well for me.One of the plastic sleeves that came with mine (which connects the back and side glass panels) had a crack/split at the top which made it a pain to connect, but it still seems sturdy.I've deducted a star for the cracked plastic sleeve and for the poor instructions, but am otherwise pretty happy with it. I'm not very good at putting this stuff together (usually results in a lot of swearing), but this wasn't as bad as I had expected (perhaps thanks to the other reviews setting my expectations). I think I will need to construct an anchoring system - no kids, but I think my cat will try to perch on top which would result in a CATastrophe....Also, I think some LED light strips would really improve the look of the case - it's a bit dark, though part of that is my basement office; I knew when ordering the case was not lit, however.The case is well sized for sixth scale figures and can house two fairly large figures on each shelf (I have the Hot Toys Avengers Thor, Captain America and Black Widow on a single shelf - but she's fairly tiny - I think 3 large-ish figures would be too crowded).I'll post a picture to show 1/6 scale figures in the case.I plan to order a second one in short order, though I'd like to work out an anchoring system first.**UPDATE 30 MAY 2013**I purchased a second cabinet and assembly went MUCH more smoothly doing the steps in a different order than the instructions. It took 20-30 minutes and no swearing at all by doing it this way:1. Attach the 4 metal poles to the bottom of the unit.2. Attach the plastic feet to the bottom of the unit.3. Stand the bottom so that the poles are pointing in the air.4. Attach the top of the unit LOOSELY to the poles (a few turns of the bolt is enough).5. Attach the suction cups to the poles. This is MUCH easier to do at this stage than when the glass has been attached and also ensure that the poles are turned correctly (the ends of the suction cups should point toward the middle of the case).6. Attach the long plastic pieces to the back glass piece (a. be sure you have the back - which is longer - and not the door; b. be sure the strips are attached correctly as shown in the diagram - one recess is deeper than the other on the plastic strip).7. Lift the top of the unit slightly and slip the back piece of glass into the slot on the bottom piece.8. Let the top of the unit sit on top of the back piece of glass (in the groove).9. Attach left side, dropping it into the bottom slot and sliding the glass into the plastic connector.10. Attach right side in the same way.11. Let the top piece sit on the 3 panes of glass, ensuring that they are seated in the slots.12. Tighten the bolts on the top piece, making sure that the suction cups on the poles are pointing to the center.13. Attach the plastic pieces that hold the door to the recesses in the top and bottom of the cabinet.14. Attach the magnetic pieces to the top and bottom of the cabinet.15. Attach the metal bracket to the top of the door.16. Partially insert the screws into the bottom bracket and then insert the bracket into the hole at the bottom of the case.17. Insert the top bracket (already attached to the door) into the hole on the top of the case, then slide the bottom of the glass door into the metal bracket at the bottom.18. Tighten the screws on the bottom metal bracket; door is now attached.19. Put the remaining brackets (i.e., the parts that make contact with the magnets) on the door.20. Clean the glass (much harder to do after you put the shelves in).21. Insert each shelf.That looks long, I know, but it's actually MUCH simpler than the way the instructions tell you to do it. I had absolutely no problem doing this by myself.
