Worked with my echo - almost a 50% savings over what echo wanted to replace the head.
I bought an echo (one of the cheaper ones) weed trimmer with a rapid change trim head, the kind where you just push string through and it locks into place. I LOVED it. It runs good, and the rapid / push through idea is genius. I highly recommend trying one of those echos if you get a chance. After a couple of years, though..the little push-through holes where you load the string in got too loose and string kept flying out. That was kind of a bummer. Now in all fairness, i might have used a non-echo line that loosened those holes up, in which case it isnt echo's fault. But I have a feeling that this is just something that will eventually happen to all of these, if you use it on a regular basis. So..I took a look and didn't really see any way to fix the little clips and I looked online to see how much echo wanted for a new head and it was nearly 40$, which was way too much in my mind considering I got the weed trimmer on sale for around $110 or 150$ and the head is basically a piece of plastic with some metal clips in it. So I started looking for alternatives and found this baby for about 20$. I just finished installing it and used it for the 1st time. So while I can't comment on the durability I CAN say that it works GREAT. I deducted one star of the ease-of-install rating because none of the nuts that came with it fit my echo shaft perfectly..so it is possible the one nut that was supposed to work was either missing or cut poorly. (It comes with a few different nuts for different brands and models). But , luckily I was able to use the nut from taking the original head off , as it was able fit into the slot and get tight. So, when you remove your head - hang on to the nut just in case. You have to drop the nut into the new head and then tighten it by hand using the head as the wrench, and like I said my nut dropped in and barely fit. All in all, this was very easy to install (4/5) and a GREAT value (5/5) and If it lasts the whole year, I'll come back and update the durability rating. But I just used it for the 1st time and it cuts GREAT. Its a bit heavier than my original I think, so I am just using 1 out of the 3 cutting lines. If you have a small weed trimmer like I do, I don't think youll see much benefit out of using all 3 and you might get more rpm's from just using 1 or 2. Also if you just use 1 or 2 and one breaks, youll have a "back up". Just my thoughts. I would buy this product again. I would recommend this product to others. And, I am even thinking about buying one for a backup in case i break it (i'm pretty hard on stuff) mid-season so I can just keep truckin'. Buy this, you will NOT regret it. If youve got a regular bump or auto head , my recommendation becomes even stronger. Youll 1) never go back to a bump head or auto head with a spool and 2) youll kick yourself for not changing to this type of head sooner. A+ product...and I rarely write reviews.

Swivel makes it work better
Works well. Was able to do a lot more trimming because the plastic line didnโt break. Swiveling connectors helped a lot

Excellent tool, the best I've found so far (but less durable than hoped).
UPDATE: 1 year later. It literally came apart after a year's weekly use on a 1/4 acre subdivision yard; 3 photos are all today, during and when done for day. I use it for edging and weedeating. Still, it worked well, string replacement was easy, and I've yet to find a better option, so I ordered two more today. For the price, a year is not bad, though I would have hoped for more durable. I replaced the head on my Kobalt 80V weedeater with this one. The replacement took 10 minutes, stringing it line took less than 5, and I was on the go. I don't use precut line, I use rolls of the stuff, cut to fit, bent in the middle and inserted as instructed. This thing works well, the line last longer than it did w/ the old head, and replacement is a snap. The only problem is that maybe 1 out of 10 times, I need to use a small pair off pliers to pull the remnant line from the attachment point where it broke off. Never hard, just not possible for me to grip with my big fingers. IMO, this is well worth the money.

Excellent replacement for the old pivot trimmer
I bought two of the original or at least earlier version of this device. They had four rotating string holders. I had always used 0.095" string in the other units and cut the strings from a spool. The original red strings provided did not last very long on the old units so I was not surprised when they didn't do well on the new unit. I purchased two and have used only one of this new design. In use, the three strings seem perfectly adequate compared to four that the old ones used. But the old strings worked for a longer time than the three strings do. I guess that is not a surprise. I cut the strings 11 - 12" long and fold them through the eyelets with about 1/4 - 1/2" difference in length. I make them 12" long and don't make the tips a different length as I do on 11" strings. My smallish four-cycle whip engine cannot swing much larger than that anyway. If I could work with 14", the speed that the whipping occurs is increased a lot, but it locks up in the taller grass too fast. And it is harder to maintain an even speed because of the load involved, but if the engine gets the whip head up to speed, the cutting is much easier with the longer strings. I am very satisfied with these new replacement heads. I am not able to finish whip the entire grounds with one set of strings, but I carry a second set and quickly replace them once during the process. It gets counter-productive to use the strings once they wear down to about 2" which means only 7" out of 11" is actually worn off, but the whipping speed is so fast and the amount of cutting done is so small that replacement is indicated. The new design of the eyelets is excellent improvement - the old ones worked ok, but these are better. The connection to the bar of the whip was only a small improvement, though a welcome one. I didn't think they could improve on it much - but they did. It was easier to install than the old one as a result. I still have trouble with it in tall grass. I have to get up wind so that the whip takes off the bottom of the stems and subsequent revolutions throws the grass to one side out of the uncut grass into an already trimmed area. If the grass does not get thrown out, it tangles around the end until it stops the rotation, which it is all too ready to do. If that does not work, the only way is to take the tops off then the middle and then the bottom until all is cut off in the area before moving on to the next area to be cut. Each area should be relatively small, reached without moving from one position to another while taking the grass down.

Great product, Great customer service
We love the ease of replacing trimmer line. I wasn't sure how to install it on my Husqvarna so I called customer service for help. Monica was very friendly in helping me to get the trimmer head installed. I left a message and she called me back in less than 10 minutes (friday pm that was great!) We have Pivotrim fixed line trimmer head at the lake so we wanted one here at home also.

As usual, don't believe the hype...
I recently got a PivoTrim head to replace the jam-prone and generally poor functioning "bump feed" head on my Craftsman 4-cycle trimmer. Yes, I saw the TV commercial and thought it was a clever, fairly simple design. And the price was reasonable. It installed pretty easily, and following the recommendations that came with it for curved shaft trimmers, I loaded the line in two of the four little red pivoting thingies (on opposing sides of course). It basically works, although certainly no better than the original 2-line head. The line wore no less rapidly than before, and I found that it was actually MORE prone to breakage. Plus, since the line - as designed - pivots when it encounters impact, it actually cuts more slowly and less effectively than the original head. As a result, I have to trim much more slowly and methodically, and in so doing the line ends up taking more of a beating than in the original head. Kind of defeats the purpose... I've yet to try it with all four 'pivots' loaded with line - I plan to do that next weekend and will post an update. Anyway, although the PivoTrim is not a total epic fail, it is likewise certainly not anywhere near as capable/magical as the commercial suggests. I'll give it one more shot, but I suspect it's going to end up on the shelf - next to my Slap Chop. :) UPDATE: I tried the PivoTrim this weekend with all four pivots loaded with line. I can report that it did operate more reliably, and the line was less prone to breakage. However, it also did not cut as efficiently, and really seemed to put a significant extra load on the the 4-cycle Craftsman motor. I can see why they recommend only loading two of the pivots for curved shaft trimmers (like mine). Anyway, I'm sticking with my original three stars. This aftermarket head is OK, but you're probably better off just sticking with the OE head that came with your trimmer. I do have a straight shaft attachment for my trimmer as well as the curved - thought about trying that, but I don't want to re-install the PivoTrim.

A+ Fantastic Highly Recommend
Dang old dang, works great on my cheap Homelite weed wacker. I bought a cheap weed whip when my last one broke as it was the only thing quickly available. The head just let string out like a casting fishing reel. I've got 10 years ground keepers experience on golf courses and 25 years since taking care of my yard and this was the worst head every designed. I was ready to give it away and go get a much more expensive weed whip when I thought about an advertise I saw. So I gave PivoTrim a go. None of the four methods quite matched but I was able to adapt from the videos and get it assembled and working in under 30 minutes. I just hit the entire yard and not a string is broke. I've got lots of fence, driveway, sidewalk, metal picnic tables, swings, garden stone, and patio blocks and the weeds got taken out like yesterday. Since I did not ever have to feed line, it took half the time. The PivoTrim moves a lot of air when the head is spinning. The line provided was more flexible than what I normally use and came with a replacement set. I will order Maxpower 24 pack of replacement line to have around as I'm very impressed even though it cost a bit more than normal replacement line. The line is cake to install; I did bend it away from the safety shield in case that helped while the weed whip warmed up. It never hit the shield during use. My yard is small by great plains standards, but an average size yard for most folks in the contiguous states. The PivoTrim moved along quickly never catching or tugging, way faster than any head I've used. I highly recommend for residential use. I keep my lawn well maintained, so there is not a lot of really long grass. I'm not sure how well this would in tall grass.

Does a good job
For the money it's a better option than most bump head trimmer heads and alot cheaper. I used .095 line. I recommend .095 good quality line, like max power. The line that came with the head didn't last very long. The thicker line lasts much longer, you may get a few uses of more before changing. The line is easy to change, no tools required. Tip: I found that running full length on both sides of head, ie 6 equal length pieces of string didn't cut as good as I wanted and my trimmer wasn't reaching max rpm. Through some trial and error, I now run full length on one side of the string head and 1/2 the length on the other. Now only 1 string is doing the cutting and the 1/2 piece acts as reinforcement to prevent breakage. My trimmer winds out more and I actually had to richen the carb a little since it was reaching higher rpm.

Absolutely brilliant.
There's no list of compatible edgers, just "universal fits most" so I took a gamble and it was money well spent. Nothing else fits my old Stihl FSA 85 except another original garbage bump head. Installation was a no-brainer. It comes with a range of spacers, nuts and bolts to suit different machines, of which I used one nut. It could fit a slightly thicker shaft to mine and probably would have centred when tightened, but I took the opportunity to put a bit of heat-shrink over the shaft and used a different washer to make it perfect. Six lines instead of two makes it a slightly noisier with more load on the motor, but neither was a problem. The path of destruction of the lines is a wider than my previous. Vertical edging isn't as precise. It absolutely ripped through my heavy test. The sample line included was great and I want to buy a roll of that stuff. Any short line head uses more line than a bumper and requires more effort to reload, but it was still very quick and easy. A supply of precut lengths would help, but I used roughly ZERO line on a yard which usually takes five or six bumps. The build looks sturdy but only time will tell if the whole thing needs replacing after getting dragged over the concrete, which is less likely due to it's low profile with no bumping required. Overall, highly recommended. Can't wait to use it again.
