Very reliable kit
I bought this before the lockdown started as my Lenovo Miix had very few ports. It provides power to the laptop as well as a two extra USB ports and a standard HDMI port, so you can connect it to a screen. I connected it to a 4K TV, a mouse and a keyboard and everything works fine. I have tried connecting the headset and webcam to the hub, and that works too, but bear in mind that the hub has only 2 USB's, so if you connect all that kit, you need to have 2 USB's on the computer in addition to the 2 on the hub (or buy a hub with more USB ports).During lockdown, my office replaced the Miix with a Thinkpad T490, which is a bit more powerful. Power supply on USB-C to the T490 works fine as well. Tip: check the Watt rating on the charger that comes with the computer. This hub is rated for 60W.I have now had this hub for 10 months and have been using it every day. It is a very reliable piece of kit and it is the only way I can connect all necessary working from home equipment. This small hub is an excellent buy.

Does the job with a Chromecast
Primary use is to expand the storage for a Google Chromecast 4K device along with a wired ethernet connection. Does the job well. I like the status lights for power and for ethernet incorporated in to the hub. There is no storage pouch inside the box as some commenters have mentioned.Things to watch out for:1. In my experience connecting an audio streamer to the usb port of the hub like I did with a Picoreplayer on a Rasberry Pi Zero W even if it is just for power supply will divert audio from the Chromecast device. Nothing wrong with the Anker hub - just the way it is designed.2. My set up using this Anker hub with the Google Chromecast 4K works best with a Thumb drive type storage rather than my external hard drive; the Chromecast recognises the hard drive but insist it will not read from it unless it is formatted by it and used as the Chromecast's storage exclusively. No thanks.3. It is best to set up the Chromecast using the Anker hub first then introduce the USB Thumb drive as storage.None of these issues occur when using this hub with my laptop or smartphone. It's a shame there are only two usb3.0 ports on this hub, the additional SD and Micro SD ports are available, but I have not tested these for use with the Chromecast.

Reliable and all you need for daily use
If you need a reliable daily driver, this USB C hub is probably the best one to carry around especially if the computer you are using it only has Type C ports and a headphone jack. It is, in my opinion, a bit pricey in comparison to the other ones on Amazon, but it isn't as extortionate as the Belkin counterpart. I guess it's the price you pay for reliability. It does get noticeably warm after an hour (with all the ports being used) but nothing out of the ordinary. I wish it did have an extra USB A port, or another Type C port to use with other adapters and devices, thankfully it does have an ethernet port so it's one less adapter to carry around and is quite useful when it comes to places with slow internet or when you need to attach to a private network.

Makes great use of a singe USB C port
I use this with a an Apple Laptop M2, it utilises a single USB C port to feed in power to the laptop, output HDMI to a projector and support a couple of USB devices, all without any problems. tried the cheaper 5-1 version but would found the 7-1 much better.

Excellent USB-C Hub for Thinkpad X390
Short Version:- Good build quality, nice packaging, carry pouch is a nice touch.- Connects wired USB mouse, wired USB keyboard, HDMI monitor and ethernet without problems- Works (for the above) with or without laptop charger plugged into it.- With charger plugged in, powers and charges Thinkpad X390 (using 65w Lenovo charger)- Nice alternative to a larger, less portable dock- Anker customer service is excellentGripes:- I don't use the card reader, and would have another USB port or HDMI port in its placeI'm using this with a Thinkpad X390.In my setup, it connects a wired USB keyboard, wired USB mouse, an HDMI monitor and my ethernet network to the laptop.I wasn't certain from the description whether the product would power the laptop as well (but wasn't too worried as I have two USB-C ports, and figured, if it came to it, I would charge the laptop via one, and connect the hub via the other. It does charge and power the laptop via the PD socket though, using the 65w Lenovo charger supplied with this Thinkpad model.Taking the charger power cable out of the hub will briefly pause operation of the connected items, but they spring back into life without problems.UPDATE - this no longer happens - I'm not sure why, but operation of the connected peripherals continues uninterrupted if the charger power cable is removed or plugged in.As ever with Anker, the product arrives nicely packed, and has a reassuring, quality feel to it.The pass through charging works nicely with Lenovo's 65w charger, and the hub works whether plugged into the pass through charging or not. I use it as a more portable laptop dock, with only one thing to unplug should I need to move away from my desk. Using this also frees up the laptop's USB ports (previously taken up by the wired keyboard and mouse).Personally, I don't use the card readers - while it's sort of nice to have them available, more USB or HDMI capability would have been better, I think. In all, an excellent product.
