Fantastic product!
NEW REVIEW AFTER RECIEVING REPLACEMENT: It's works wonderfully. Make sure that your guitar/pedal cords are meant to use a complete bypass before dismissing. It's a low cost product, with one hell of a performance. I'm very pleased; considering the cost. I use to use a Boss Metal Zone pedal in my younger days; and this behringer pedal does exactly what the BOSS could do- at a sincere fraction of the cost. 6/5 stars! **make sure you have compatible equipment; via cords input/output and such, can't stress this enough** So, I had ordered this pedal thinking it would come with the 9v AC power supply cord.. it did not.. So I researched how to open it to access the 9v battery port; and to keep this short- it did not work or turn on. So, I ordered that power supply; hoping it would work that way.. took 17 days to recieve; but it was to no avail. I just received a les paul gibson classic 1960, and was so excited to improve upon my distortion- get back into the metal days.. needless to say I was extremely disappointed. I have requested a return, and am waiting on the new product. Fingers crossed. I will update this review upon receiving and testing out the replacement.

Cheap alternative to the $120 used Boss HM2.
This is a good, cheap, alternative to the Boss HM2 -- the infanous effects pedal behind the chainsaw guitar tone of Left Hand Path era Entombed. Is it AS good? No, but it is close. Sound wise you're getting virtually the same tones the real deal would give you. However, the real HM2 is less noisy and the pots are a tad more tweakable. But for the ridiculous difference in price between the two, this is great for someone curious if the HM2 is for them. It can be used as a replacement to, but I'd suggest a gate to clean it up a bit. You want dirty, but not that type. Also, for those who've never tried either and are wondering what makes the HM2 different than other high gain distortions? Well, not a whole lot but it has a unique voicing that colors lower tremelo riffs into sounding thicker than they do with thinner high gain distortions. A lot of low end. Also, there's a really unique sustain with the distortion all the way up. Overall, if you're curious about the real deal - opting for this is intelligent over tracking down the real thing. If you like it, the real deal is more appropriate for a live setting but this will work just as well if you don't mind a hair more hiss. Also, mine came with a box and inserts. Hate not having boxes to my pedals and seen a lot of these came in plastic packaging.. Thankfully not the case with mine.

Sounds great, but very cheap construction.
The sound on this is exactly what I expected: the gritty "Swedish chainsaw" sound from the early 90's that bands like Entombed and Dismember used. It sounds almost exactly like the Boss HM-2. I expected it to be plastic at this price but holy hell. BE CAREFUL with these Behringer stomp boxes. I took the bottom plate off looking for the battery and it was literally half the weight of the whole pedal. The battery is underneath the pedal part, and you have to press in on both sides like some DigiTech pedals. I found that to be a poor design choice given the fragility of the item. Overall, this thing is worth the money. If you want that Swedish chainsaw tone, buy one of these and you won't regret it. Buy two of them because why not have a backup for that price? I think this is a great sounding pedal, but I wouldn't bring it on the road without a backup just in case it breaks. This thing won't take a lot of abuse so be careful with it.

Very good pedal for the price, get's the Metal Done with VALUE
For the money, this pedal is what it says it is. I'm actually shocked. Yeah it's housing and frame is made of plastic and it doesn't FEEL all that great, but it's still sturdy and can be stomped on a bit. For me, there's no worries at all since I'm playing around with these Behringers on a pedal board experimenting with tones. I'm pleasantly surprised as to the quality of the pedal's function - producing that Metal grinding distortion. It's possible to make it chunky, it's possible to go 80s hairband. Is the best? NO. But does it work and give you what you want? YES. Aside from the build quality, this pedal and so far, others like it from Behringer are 10 outa' 10 for me. I have this guy specifically paired up against a Boss that I have, and it's not only comparable, I actually like the HM300 over the Boss's lower grades. It's better than the Digi Punk I used to have. The output signals is so much more clear than I'd expected. The quality of the tone coming through the same up, in terms of my driver actually throwing the full frequency range, was a lot better with this cheap little guy. The Heavy Distortion pedal from Behringer specially matches up with a DS-1 and just out does the DS-1 in every way but build quality. These are not pedals to get for collecting, they're pedals that give you what you asked for and in today's economy? You couldn't ask for much else.

Unusable. Skip it.
Doesn't bypass any audio whatsoever if unplugged... all my other pedals do... also super super noisy even when it's not even engaged... just being in the pedal chain causes the noise floor of your setup to come up to unusable levels. Does the original Boss HM-2 do this too? Hope not... Not to mention this pedal is made of cheap cheap plastic. Pass.

I watched lots of YouTube videos reviews. I’m really happy with this pedal, it sounds great for metal and rock. It sounds so good with my small Peavey and Mesa Boogie amps and large cabinet. I hope the plastic housing can handle live conditions, I’ll update my review later. I am very happy with it and highly recommend it. Amazing price and value. I suggest you watch YouTube videos to see if the sound is for you.

Excellent product. And it will be helpful to those who are buying their first guitar pedal. Unless both input and output are inserted with 1/4 cable. The led indicator won't glow and seem like it is not working even when you have installed a 9V battery or powered up with 9V power adapter. Working well with battery but haven't bought the behringer 9vV adapter so can't say much about working with adaptor.
