John Williams - The Guitarist

I like listening to guitar in all it's forms (usually rock) But I do like acoustic guitar & I have been binge-playing this 3 CD album (It's been a great background album to have on while I work from home) since I got it. It has some great pieces of classical guitar music, played skilfully with a precise touch. While some of the more classical pieces are not particularly to my taste there are also more popular well-known pieces that are like old friends (such as Cavatina). The first CD contains solo pieces, the 2nd CD has more romantic & latin pieces and the 3rd is with friends & more orchestral.

As someone who has been a fan of John Williams since seeing him in concert in 1972, I think this is a great collection spanning a wide range of his styles on classical guitar, one CD of traditional classic guitar, one CD of more 'romantic' style, and one CD with other musicians, such as guitar duets. Three hours of some of his best classical guitar music at a great price!

This is a superb bargain - the best collection of classical guitar music I've seen, played masterfully by the best classical guitarist I've heard - a blissful mix of popular classics and contemporary favourites.I love the music of contemporary acoustic guitarists like Tommy Emmanuel and Martin Simpson, but when it comes to classical guitar, no-one does it better than John Williams.Highly recommended!

I love the romantic John Williams CD the best it is utterly beautiful. The first shows just how talented John Williams is and the final one with Julian Bream is rather more sophisticated than transcending - but it is all a matter of taste he truly is a master of his craft.

I have always admired John William's guitar playing, and in the days of vinyl LPs had many of his records. On loading up my new ipod i found that i had nothing by the great man on CD. This had to be remedied, and after doing a thorough search of Amazon came up with a triple CD entitled, 'John Williams-The Guitarist'. There was nothing wrong with it whatsoever, it arrived on time, in good condition and played extremely well, (as you would expect from a man of his talents). My complaint is the track listings. They are all over the place!. What is playing on my hi-fi doesn't correspond to what is advertised on the supplied cover. As my mother tongue is English i have great difficulty working out the name of the track i am listening to and it makes it doubly hard when trying to type the correct name into itunes.This item is a triple CD and two out of the three of the CD's song titles are listed incorrectly!

John Williams is such a brilliant guitarist, and I always love to hear him play his guitar. His music soothes the nerves and keeps you calm. Try listening, and see if it is the same for you.

Wonderful album and some tracks just beautiful. Superb music to either relax to, or have on as background music. Don't hesitate if you love the guitar and its calming effect.

Can only play this on a cd player as it will not download. When downloading disc 1 the playlist for disc 2 appears ,disc 2 will not download because it says it already down-loaded. This is the second c.d, as the first one was returned to you and exchanged.

Si vous ne devez avoir qu’un seul cd de guitare classique c’est celui ci.

et vous reposer d'une dure journée, voilà de la belle et bonne musique. Un guitariste hors-pair et des morceaux plus ou moins connus, donc des découvertes. Je vous le recommande.

If you have to own a CD compilation of JOHN WILLIAMS, this is the one to go and buy.Honestly, Im an electric guitarist and play here and there Classical Guitar, but when I heard John Williams after buying this compilation...the world stopped.Here is a hand picked collection of his career in 3 cds by Sony Music UK that I highly recommend.I also recommend a cd called JOHN WILLIAMS - GUITAR RECITAL on DECCA/LONDON RECORDS. This was a recital that John Williams did when he was only 17 YEARS OLD. Call that being gifted or what!!!!!After hearing this, chances are that you'll be wanting to own his music collection. Unfortunately, most of it is has not being released on cd.Another guitarist that I also recommend that has a huge sound is David Russell who is also from the UK and lives in Spain.RATING 10
