Cheap, but badly constructed
Ok, at this price, I really did expect it to be cheaply made. I was good with that. But I had thought that the French press system was a well-understood technology. So I was unpleasantly surprised to find that the press portion of the apparatus was held on by a tiny nut, with tiny washers on either side. Look, one gets a French press because one is willing to put a little extra effort into their brewing system because they care about the taste of their coffee. This means that one plans on keeping the brewing apparatus clean. Honestly, nothing ruins a cup of coffee like old coffee oils. So, one expects to take the thing apart to thoroughly clean it, after each and every cup. Otherwise, not only do the oils build up, but old grounds get caught in between the wire mesh and the bottom plate, further compromising the taste of one's coffee. The thing is, taking it apart after each use is not really optional, any more than removing the old filter with coffee grounds is for a drip maker. So it shouldn't be terribly difficult, and it shouldn't have little pieces that shoot off in all directions if you're not extra careful, and it shouldn't need tools to accomplish this basic task. While you can disassemble it with your fingers, it's actually a little difficult. Other French presses I've seen, the bottom plate just screws onto the shaft, quite neatly, no washers and nuts required, and the bottom plate holds the wire mesh, spring, and coarse plate in place. It's a nice bit of design, easy to assemble and disassemble. This system is not.

Plenty good enough for the office
This press does the job very well, though I was alarmed when I first pulled it from the box. It seemed impossibly light compared to the Bodum press of the same size I keep at home. The Wyndham's glass carafe is much thinner, as is the sheet metal. But I'm sold on it after a month of using it every day at work. It brews coffee just as well as the Bodum, has a lighter plunger action, and gives me no worries it will crack or fall apart in normal use.And if you're not sure about whether to buy a french press at all, go for it. This one will pay for itself in the cost of filters in just a few months and your coffee will taste much, much better.

My favorite quick coffee maker
Never expected it to be as nice as it is for the low price. It's a perfect one person press :)UPDATE: At the time I purchased this it was $7.50. I took it camping several times since I was the only coffee drinker and it was great, but sadly I broke it on one of the trips. It has almost doubled in price. Since I hated being without it (although I have several methods of brewing coffee, this is my favorite) I bought two so I would have one while the other was in the dishwasher. I sprung for the Bodum - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00008WU9F/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1419805480&sr=1&keywords=bodum+french+press - as well as replacing this one to compare. It still is comparable to the more expendsive one and I use it equally as much. Still watching for it to go on sale again so I can buy several to have a dinner parties. That way eveyone can have the type and flavor coffee they would want with dessert. :)

Wonderful little Press!
We recently discovered the pleasure of French Pressed coffee, with a large press that I found at a yard sale. The experience got me thinking, why not have a fresh cup EVERY time?!We are trying to retrain out brains, and get away from using the microwave, but I can't STAND coffee that's reheated on the stove, so we'd pop it in the microwave for a few seconds, which we KNOW is not good for us! (And I am SO done with coffee machines that "keep it warm for you"! Blechk!)So I ordered 2 of these, one for me and one for my hubby so we can each have whatever flavor we like and fresh every time; and we are SOOOO glad we did!Great coffee, easy to use and NEVER warmed up!! And, this was the last hurdle for the microwave and it's now on it's way out the door! So it contributed to improving our health as well!

My first press pot/ french press
The quality and feel of this french press is very nice. I would have given 5 stars but the glass broke and I was not able to find a replacement. I should be able to purchase just the beaker.Caution to the buyer: this is a single pot brew. You may be better off getting the larger pot and just making a half pot. You can always add to the larger pot but can't add to this smaller one.

Some serious design/QA flaws
I didn't have high expectations for something I payed so little for. However, I want others to understand what they are getting into if they purchase this french press. The first thing I noticed about it is that the base is off kilter so it wobbles all the time. I've yet to find a hard surface that it doesn't rock back and forth on. Second, the mesh filter just barely contacts the sides of the carafe, so some grounds get through.Overall, I believe if you are intense about your coffee experience, this is not the french press for you. If you are a college student looking for a way to quickly make one cup of coffee, you may be served well by this press.

Not recommended
I recommend buying a better product. I bought this because I wanted a glass and stainless steel product with out plastic and was disappointed (see below). I should have read more reviews before purchasing it. Totally my fault and not the problem of the vendor. This product looks very fragile. Other reviewers noted that it broke easily. I am most concerned about the materials used to make the product. The description states that is is made of the best quality products not stainless steel. Also, I don't know what kind of plastic is in the lid interior. Nowhere on the box does it state that the product is made of stainless steel or that the plastic is BPA free. (The only place that states that the product is made with stainless steel is on Amazon's website in fine print.) It could be but who knows. Because other reviews have noted that the product rusts, so I doubt it.Please find pictures attached. Notice that the interior of the lid is lined with white plastic.
