This Tape Works !!
We have a winner!!! I have been having problems with birds in my yard. My stupid HOA tore out miles of these low growing bushes because they made perfect homes for rats & other critters & the idiots replaced them with these bushes that grow Berries!! Now we have flocks of birds all over the place The American Robins are the worst they are messy noisy & have No fear of humans as a matter of fact if you try to scare them they actually puff us, stick out their chest & confront you. The Mockingbirds are the most annoying bird of all they scream all day & night waking me up! Now my yard has disgusting bird droppings everywhere this is a nightmare. I have tried many tactics but Now that I have put the Holographic tape around my yard No Birds. One or two have ventured on my grass but mostly it keeps they birds away! I also purchased the Glue and put it on the surrounding walls to my backyard & NO birds have landed! For my inconsiderate, lazy neighbors who walk their dogs on everybody's lawn even though our HOA has provided them with areas to walk their dogs & they provide some of the Best quality poop bags I've ever seen, yet they feel they have a right to let their dogs go to the bathroom on people's private property!! Unbelievable!! Then when their urine kills your lawn the HOA fines you.. I purchased the Yard Sentinel to take care of this problem. I just put it up today so we will see how it does. But this Bird Tape is Great Tips: I find the tape is more effective when the sun reflects off of it also some piece I left hanging to blow in the wind and some pieces I twisted a few times and tied both ends (making a bridge or the shape of a rainbow. I did this for the different effects and because the tape does make a slight noise when the wind blows it. I recommend this product!!

Hey, this stuff actually works!
I brought a new resin picnic table, and the stupid birds thought it was their personal toilet! Not a day went by without finding bird crap on the seats, the top and so forth. Then when I got the Holographic Bird tape, I snipped off about a 5-foot length, and hung it like a streamer from a pole in the center umbrella hole, that rises up about three feet above the table top. The streamer waves and flaps easily in the gentlest breeze, which appears to shoo the birds away. I think it's a combination of the reflective mylar finish along with a tinsel flapping sound from the tape blowing with the wind. In any case, since placing the streamer, not one bird has pooped there again! A few have landed on the table to examine it when the wind was calm (such as a few dang mocking birds!), but none have left their mark! So far, the bird tape works great and exceeds my expectations! UPDATE! After using this for the entire summer, still NO BIRD DROPPINGS! NONE! And so you understand, you don't have to use a lot of this stuff (like someone who hung dozens all over his trees. That's not necessary). I just have one short streamer hanging from a trellis pole, and birds stay away. The wind eventually snapped off the end, and left about 3ft length... but it still works!

Disco ball for birds
Welcome back to that 70s show!! If you have robins this tape provides a perfect dancing environment. You just need to add some music. Then you can watch the robins dance around your trees and eat your cherries. So no, this tape didn't work for my robins. The robins will land on a branch with the tape blowing in the wind and they don't even flinch. It is good quality tape and may work for other bird species but do your research first. I am confident that this will work for some birds. My robins are fearless! I made streamers by adding duct tape reinforcement to the end and using a hole punch to make a hole so that the tape would not tear in strong winds. So if you decide to use tape you may want to try this. This tape not only flashes but makes some "crinkling" sound when blowing in the wind, see video. I have actually gone the other way now and encourage birds to the garden. They eat my slugs and other bugs ;) Yes, they chow down on my cherries but I still get plenty for the family and that's a small price to pay to be slug free. Birds are an important piece of the puzzle for being organic and all natural so welcome them in.

A great and effective deterrent for birds!
I had mixed results, but overall feel this is a great way to deter birds. The key is to really go dramatic with your strips. Hang them in ridiculously long ribbons from your trees or structures. They will flow in bright, reflective streamers that make a crinkling sound and sunlight will bounce off them. After the ribbons went up, there was an immediate reduction in birds that were hanging around our trees. After 2 months, I got too confident and thought maybe the birds were gone for good, so I took the strips down. Within a day, the trees were full of birds again, so I had to put them back up. If you want to keep away birds, this will need to be a permanent fixture (unfortunately). Only two complaints, neither that affected my rating: 1) Some birds will still hang around. This is nature, and we have to respect that. But I saw a very noticeable and almost instant decrease in the number of birds in our trees and patio area. 2) The sound these ribbons make is unsettling—both to birds and to humans. It's a very subtle crinkling noise when the ribbon drags and flicks against concrete. Allegedly birds don't like the sound and it keeps them away. But when I have the windows open at night, it also sounds like the faint noise of someone out on the patio. It took me some time to get used to, and even several months later, it still gives me the creeps. Logically, I know it's nothing, but it's hard to re-train your brain to ignore it when it sounds like someone is rummaging around outside your bedroom window. Keep that in mind when you're deciding where to place these. But if you want a safe and humane way to reduce birds in your yard, I HIGHLY recommend buying a roll of this!

Ineffective against barn swallows
So my Dad told me that this tape was some sort of miracle cure to prevent birds from eating crops in California where he lives. I put it up to stop the barn swallows from nesting in my deck rafters this summer. It took these birds about 3 hours to incorporate the tape into their nests in a variety of ingenious ways. Soon word spread and more barn swallows were trying to nest. Apparently barn swallow real estate hasn't been this hot since the great mudslide of 2003. I had to hire a band of goons to keep spraying water at the birds when they neared my house. Also, when it's windy (which is a lot where I live), the tape is insanely loud as it flaps around. This also doesn't do a darn thing to keep the swallows away. But here's what I learned! For about 4x the cost you can get 200 feet of deer fence which is easy to cut and staple, and after a few hours of hard work attaching the fencing to the underside of the decking, voila, nowhere for these little suckers to land and build! Now I need ideas of how to use bird tape since I have about 160 feet left...

It Worked! Wish I bought this sooner.
I installed this in my backyard after experiencing continuous damage to my garden from nesting birds in the area. Has been up for approximately 2 weeks now and not a bird in sight. Works better than expected. I was skeptical after purchasing a highly reviewed Gardeneer Scare Owl decoy and got zero results, the damage continued and I needed a solution quick so I ordered this scare tape. I wish I had done it sooner and I would have saved many garden plants. I installed the tape along one side of my raised garden retaining walls. I also strung the tape between two nearby trees as well as hung some from a couple trellis steaks. Makes crinkling noises in the wind and casts reflective light shimmering in several directions.

Worked for about a week and then the birds got used to it. It also could not stand up to the wind and I was finding pieces of this tape all over the yard.
