Light golden brown
Beautiful brown. I don’t know why I assumed it would be a potter’s pink type of color. It wasn’t. Great ink flow. But it’s a light golden brown. I wasn’t looking for that.

Lovely, earthy color - perfect for writing letters!
I was so torn on whether to purchase the Terre de Feu ink or the Poussiere de Lune, which is a beautiful shade of mauve. I eventually decided on Terre de Feu because I liked the idea of writing letters to friends that looked warm and inviting. And after hours of writing happily with this ink, I'm overjoyed with my choice! It's a beautiful sort of burgundy brown that's very legible without being too dark, so you can still appreciate the gentler notes of the color. The packaging was secure with no leaks. Can't wait to try other Herbin inks!

My Favorite
Simply the best behaved, most beautiful ink I’ve tried. This is the one I keep coming back to. Such a unique, subdued lavender brown cacao color.

Interesting gray ink, purchased for a good price
I mistakenly wrote a review for J. Herbin Vert Empire here initially, so I am rewriting to reflect Cacao Du Bresil. This is a nice ink. A very unique gray color with hints of brown. When dried, some have compared this to pencil lead (graphite) markings. I would agree with that assessment, it is very similar to a pencil shade but for me is a tad nicer. One point of interest for me is it has taken a few pens to get me to like this ink. It seemed VERY dry in a few pens (pilot for example) and I did not like the outcome. But I switched it up and is working well for now. I don't have any other greys at the moment to compare it to, but I would like to try some others to get a different feel. I do like this ink but wasn't wowed by the results. I think there is another grey out there for me, but was not a bad buy to start me on my journey.

A great shade
I'm rarely impressed with any ink that's not either black, blue-black, (and in some cases some dark browns), but this "Cacao du Bresil" is an amazing shade that looks great on both cream and white paper. The ink color itself is closer to gray than to brown, or more accurately it's the "taupe gray" with approximate RGB values all in 135s+. Graphite in some pencils may produce an approximation of this shade, too. Anyways, a very unique and the usual J. Herbin high quality fountain pen ink.

Such a different color and great quality
I have used this in two different fountain pens. One was the cheaper fountain pen; but still came out great. The other fountain pen I used was my father's more expensive Montblanc. Such a different color, in a nice way. Love the quality.

Great
This is a great leave from black for sketching, and certainly dark enough for writing. It dries extremely fast on absorbent paper, and probably quite fast on smooth paper. This isn't precisely gray and if you're looking for gray there are much, much cheaper alternatives out there which dry just as quickly. The fast-drying and subtle coloration of this gray-purple-brown make it fantastic for ink sketching and washing.

1st bottle has wrong color and 2nd one is what I expected
The 1st bottle I got was purple as shown in the picture (1st swatch). I searched a lot of review on this color and knew there must be issues with this bottle, so I ordered replacement. The new bottle works good and the color is what I expected (2nd swatch).
