My Razor's Personal Trainer
Alright, so I took the plunge. I got the straight razor (see my other review, it was an adventure). But apparently, owning a straight razor is like owning a high-maintenance sports car – you can't just use it, you have to maintain it. Enter the STAMESKY Razor Strop. I'll be honest, when I first saw photos of people using strops, I thought it looked like something out of a vintage barber shop or maybe a low-budget Western film. It seemed like an unnecessary step in my already slightly terrifying new shaving routine. But the internet (and the little voice in my head that whispers "buy more manly things") convinced me it was essential. This strop is a handsome piece of kit. The Latigo leather side is smooth and substantial, and the woven polypropylene side feels... purposeful. It hangs there, looking all official, like the personal trainer my razor desperately needed. The paddle handles give you something to grip, which is important when you're swinging a piece of leather with a razor on it. The first time I attempted to strop, it was less "smooth, confident passes" and more "awkwardly dragging a sharp object along a strap while trying not to slice the leather, the ceiling fan, or myself." It felt like learning an ancient martial art, but instead of achieving enlightenment, you're just trying to get a really close shave. There's a rhythm to it, a specific technique, and a whole lot of potential for looking foolish. BUT. The results! After a few (okay, maybe more than a few) clumsy attempts, my razor felt noticeably sharper. It wasn't just psychological; the blade glided even more smoothly during my next shave. It's like this strop whispers sweet nothings to the microscopic edge of the blade, coaxing it back into peak performance. My razor is happier, and my face is definitely happier. Stropping has become this weirdly calming part of my morning. It forces me to slow down, focus, and engage in a tactile ritual that feels... traditional. Like I'm part of a long line of people who took their shaving seriously. Plus, it looks cool hanging on the wall. If you've joined the straight razor club (or are thinking about it), this strop is non-negotiable. It's well-made, effective, and adds a touch of old-school cool to your routine. Just be patient with yourself, and maybe don't attempt it after too much coffee.

Beautuful and Well-Made
Beautiful strop, thick and quite long too. The width makes stropping so much better and I love the Chicago screws that make replacing the strap possible. The cloth side is thick with a coarse weave. Others have mentioned receiving a folded, creased strop and it caused me to hesitate on purchasing because creases ruin the strop and are difficult to remove. Someone was listening because my strop arrived loosely folded and free of creases.

Nice strop to have around
I haven't had a chance to use it yet but it is very well built. It is very heavy duty and wide enough to sharpen my straight razors. I recommend this product for honing your knives and other items that need that fine finished edge.

Well constructed for my Straight razor
I have a Vintage Boker Straight razor, and I was looking for a razor strop that allows me to clean off the oil and to strop the razor blade prior to sharpening. The stitching is solid and this is a really high quality latigo leather. I am very pleased with how effective this works for my straight razor.

Top notch
If you want a legitimate strop, and not some knock-off piece of junk, spend a little more and get this one. Absolutely the best strop I have ever owned. Excellent grade of leather...a sufficient area for the working surface (not skinny or short), takes conditioner and subsequent rouge very well. I haven't used the cloth one yet, but this guy will most likely last me my entire lifetime....and I'll probably hand it down to my stepson one day.

Good product/Poor packaging
The strip appears to be good quality, however, it came packaged in a plastic bag/envelope that obviously was squished during transport. This put visible creases in the leather strop that impact the surface smoothness as I run my blade across the strop. Yes, I should have returned it before I destroyed the packaging, but I figured I would give it a try. The creases to seem to affect the stropping process. Again, the product is nice. I just wish it was packaged better for shipping to avoid this type of damage.

Worth the price!
Strop does exactly what it is intended to do. Use it regularly to hone my Dock strait razor. After a couple of years it is showing some wear, but has held up fantastically!

This strop is easier to use than my old one, because it’s wider than my razor. So no x pattern needed to cover entire blade. I’m not an expert yet, but it seems to have good communication as you are stropping. Works good on my freshly honed razor, but I couldn’t bring back the edge on my other razors. They will have to be honed. Overall good quality product for the money, definitely the nicest strop I’ve owned. Cheers 🙂
