I like this book but I cant read music so it has been a learning curve for me to use this book

Have fun trying to read a bunch of notes floating in outer space because the staff is nearly invisible in Kindle. I saw enough to know I wouldn't want the hardcopy version of this book either, not very musical and very light on the amount of material to work out with. A far cry from the Charlie Fechter books MI used to use as the sight-reading cirriculum for guitarists and bassists.

I love this book, and Music Reading for Guitar too. They're fast paced for the player that already knows his way around the instrument but wants to learn how to read... WELL. The folks over at Musicians Institute just know what they're doing. If you're serious about learning to read and can put some real time into it then this book is for you. If you just want to have fun and learn a few pop songs I'd recommend a different method book like Hal Leonard.As for the randomness: that's kind of the point. The author's trying to get you to focus on wide intervals, different fingering patterns, and abstract rhythms, not play pop music.I'm a teacher and a jazz musician and I recommend this book to anyone who's serious about spending a good amount of time to learn how to read... WELL.

Lack a Lot of explanation

I find the music in this book pretty hokey. The advanced exercises are frequently 'random' (author's term, not mine). Random note patterns have no place in any instructional music book. What a cop out! Compose something!

Bought for theory. A very useful book that gives lots of useful explanations. Bought as a gift and the recipient was very happy and continues to refer to it, making it good value for money.

Superb support for sight reading learner like me. Highly recommended.
