Right Size
This item was exactly what I needed for my soldering iron. I was concern that since my soldering iron is no big name brand that finding the tips would be a problem. Well this one is the right type and works great.

Be Careful with the Tip!
This soldering tip is used on my Velleman Adjustable Soldering Station. Model VTSS5U. These tips are made out of ceramic with a copper tip. Works great. But I found out you need to be careful using 600 grit sandpaper to clean the tip. Because the tip has a tinning process done to it. Which when intact the tip works great. But if you burnish the tip with 600 grit sandpaper and a sponge. You will remove this tin film. Then no matter how hot you turn the station up. It won't melt the solder. I found that they make a Tinning product made by Thermaltronics. Which will retin the tip again. I bought a new tip. But I retinned my other tips (Which I thought were bad.) & the process worked!

VTSS4 replacement tip
it works very well. Gets hot fast and replaced my old worn out tip fine. No problems and I am happy with my purchase. I would recommend this if you are looking for a replacement tip.

Does the job
Both the replacement tip and soldering iron are a good value and handy for light duty work. The tip retains the ability to be "tinned" for a extended period even if the soldering iron is set on at fairly high temperature. The size is good for joining 28 to 18 AWG wire, attaching the same wire sizes to components or soldering small thru hole components (eg 1/8 to 1/2 watt resistors) to a PCB. I have used it to replace SMT parts down to 0402s in a pinch more than once using solder paste, but this tip is a too large for this. In short you get 80% of the performance of a higher cost soldering station for 20% of the cost making it a good value while the tip it-self holds up as well as the tips for the higher priced stations.
