Bought These and Victor Out of sight traps
I purchased 1 Victor out of sight trap and this package of 2 traps. I chose the Victor Out of sight trap as it seems to be the trap most professionals use. I purchased this package of 2 Aspectek traps because I could receive two for about the price of one of the Victor traps. I thought about a spear trap, but the thought of removing a blood covered speared mole from the trap did not appeal to me, yuck!My results:The Victor trap caught a mole in a couple of hours after I set it. I had two of the Aspectek traps set and it took a day and 1/2 to get my first mole.My Victor trap has caught 3 moles in 2 daysAspectek has caught 1 in 2 days. Each trap has tripped once with no catch. My Victor trap was set on a known main run and has caught all 3 at the same location. My Aspcectek traps I have moved around trying to find another main run. So the key here is finding the main tunnels and not feeding tunnels which are often used only once. The Aspcectek trap can be set by hand with no tools. I did have to bend the trip mechanism to be able to set it deep enough in the ground without going off. The spring is not as strong as the Victor traps, so they are easier to set.The Victor trap is built like a tank, and can be hard to set as it takes quite a bit of muscle power to do it. I do like the safety wire that allows you to set it and not have it go off while you are putting it in the ground.[lost 6 hrs of mole trapping time when I forgot to take it off one setting] So be sure to remember to take off the safety.Tried poison and was never sure what ate the bait, with traps you know. It felt good when I pulled up the trap the first time and had a mole. It still makes me feel good every time as I feel like I am solving my problem of crazy moles.I will try to update as time goes on.Update 5-21-2014Totals:Victor out of sight= 4Aspcectek= 3I was not catching any more on my main run and thought maybe I got them all, but that was not the case. It seems that when I had a mole in the trap, another mole dug under the trapped mole and connected to the other side. I thought the trap was set, but it was too high for the new tunnel. I collapsed the tunnel and set the trap deeper, so hopefully in the morning I will continue trapping moles. If not, I may move it to another section of the run.Update 5-22-2014Totals:Victor out of sight= 5Aspcectek= 3Missed: [trap set off, but mole got away]Aspcectek-2Victor=15-24-2014UpdateTotals:Victor out of sight= 6Aspcectek= 3Missed: [trap set off, but mole got away]Aspcectek-3Victor=1Still Have my Victor on the same run. Caught 6 moles on the same run, who says moles like to live alone?

Simple Operation For Weak Hands
This version of mole trap is OK, but after testing several types, definitely not my favorite. I have more trips on this type, but all I have been catching is dirt. The biggest advantage to this type of trap is that it is easier to set than a lot of the others. The spring strength, combined with the method of opening the jaws is a bit more user friendly. If you have weak hands, this is probably one of the best choices. The biggest disadvantage is the depth of position when used as instructed; in my yard, on my soil, it doesn't reach down far enough. If you look at the photo, you can see that the distance between the trip lever and the bottom of the jaws is very short.Using this trap effectively requires a modified technique. I have found 2 different approaches which seem to help. The first approach is to dig out the area in the middle of the trap a bit, so that the jaws can be pressed further down into the soil. The other approach is to bend the trip lever upward near the tip that contacts the ground. measure back about an inch or so, and then use two pairs of pliers to bend the last inch of the trip lever upward, without bending the upper portion near the catch. This will allow the trap to be seated down in the ground deeper.Overall, I think these will work for you if you can pay more attention to the depth; spend some extra time positioning the trap so that you are confident that it is sitting as low as possible over the run. If you have arthritis or weak hand strength, these are one of the few choices. I highly recommend reading the excellent instructions left in some of the reviews here on Amazon; well worth the time and effort. Included instructions should only be used to figure out how the trap operates and how to set the trigger without catching yourself. Technique and strategy should be developed with a combination of reading the recommended reviews and practice. Happy hunting!

Best traps ever!
First of all I do not write many reviews. A product either has to be total failure or complete awesome for me to write a review. On to these mole traps. A bit of background.... I have 2 acres of mowed lawn and what seems like 400 moles. (probably closer to 10-30). I have tried gassing them with exhaust, drowning them with water, stomping on the mounds, using quite a few smoke bombs. So far net results 1 dead star nose that fell in my pool. After calling several "mole buster" companies to find that nobody would be willing to work at my house due to location and distance I was feeling a little put out. I figured I would give it one last try, I looked at these, the victor traps and the spike style and decided on these. I purchased 3 sets of 2 for a total of 6 traps. Before the trap arrivals I watched several videos on setup and it is fairly straight forward. Find an active run, dig out the run until you find both ends of the tunnel (I used a sharp paint scraper), set the trap and place it into the tunnel, and cover with dirt.Day one I placed all 6 traps around my pool area and within 4 hours I had my first mole. By day 5 I had 5 moles. It is now 2 weeks in and I have a total of 8. I did roll my front and side lawn before placing the traps up there as to make it easier to locate new activity. I am still seeing activity and am moving the traps after 2 days if they do not trip. The traps are stiff but are easy to set. If you have weaker hands these may be an issue as you have to compress with one hand and set the trip lever with the other hand. One more note, 7 out of the 8 moles were insta-killed. The 8th mole was not.. so be prepared to dispatch the occasional "still alive" mole if needed. All in all I am extremely happy with my purchase of these traps. I figured my break even point was 6 moles for the 6 traps and I have surpassed this. Beats the heck out of $2 each smoke bombs, modifying my lawn mowers exhaust, or shooting up my lawn with a shotgun.

But do not give up lay them in the hole carefully build a mound between the two jaws and just touching the trigger I found it best to cover with a bucket I did this and success! Another mole in mole heaven.
