## Description

Product Description With the Gerber Gear Paraframe Mini Pocket Knife, we've elevated the standard everyday carry knife. This compact folding knife is the smallest of eight knives in our Paraframe series, offering a beautifully simple open-frame design. Featuring a plain edge locking blade, this mini knife is lightweight, easy to clean, and opens effortlessly. The Paraframe Mini Pocket Knife boasts a clip point blade, nail nick, frame lock handle, and a sturdy pocket clip, making it an effortless addition to your EDC. Whether you're looking for tactical knives or hunting knives, this versatile tool fits the bill. Enhance your camping gear, emergency survival gear, hiking accessories, and job performance with this compact folding pocket knife. Its minimal design means it can travel with you anywhere, making it an essential piece of EDC equipment for outdoor enthusiasts and professionals alike. From the Manufacturer If Gerber had settled for making just one version of the Paraframe knife, people might have been content. Because this reputable example of frame lock design caught on admirably among knife lovers. Making the Paraframe a mainstay of the industry. But we figured there's no merit in being stingy, so we worked up a total of eight versions. And the people were pleased. There is a simplicity to this knife that relates as much to function as it does to form. It's a breeze to open. The clip point blade configuration is ideal for cutting in close-Quarters. Openness rules the day where the handle is concerned&no.8212;there's more air than metal&no.8212;so it's quite lightweight and quite easy to keep clean. Clip a Paraframe into your pocket and you're fully equipped to take care of business. Your only challenge is figuring out which one.

Review: Toothpick for a Squirrel - Well, howdy there, folks! Let me tell ya 'bout this little piece of steel I picked up. Now, I’ve always been a massive fan of Gerber. They just know how to make a tool that works as hard as a mule. But when I first cracked open the package on the Gerber Paraframe Mini, I ain't gonna lie, my heart sank a bit. I looked at it and thought, "Lord have mercy, what is this? A toothpick for a squirrel?" It was just so durn small! I felt like I'd been short-changed.But boy, howdy, was I wrong.Once I started carrying it around the farm and putting it to work, I fell head over heels. It turns out, that tiny size is its absolute best feature. When the summer heat hits and I’m kicking around in my lightweight shorts or hitting the trail in my jogging pants, this little fella is a godsend. Regular knives pull your pants straight down to your ankles, but not this one. At a mere 1.4 ounces, it clips on, weighs next to nothing, and completely disappears. You can't see a bulge, and no one even knows you're packing steel. It turns out it's just downright perfect for everyday chores. Gerber went and proved me wrong again with this Gerber Paraframe Mini, and I couldn't be happier about it!
Review: My favorite small knife (after a month) - I'm no knife expert. Definitely not a knife snob. I'm not using this knife for survival or defense...I hang it inside my pants pocket and use it to cut stuff. If that is how you plan to use it, I recommend that you give it a try. I really like this little knife. I wasn't sure if I would like it, but the ridiculously-low price enticed me to give it a try. After using it for a month, I wouldn't have been disappointed if it had cost a few bucks more. It came reasonably sharp (not shaving-sharp, but paper-slicing sharp) and has held that edge for the short time I have been using it. It is light. My cheap kitchen scale says it is 1.4oz or 40 grams, so it weighs about the same as $1.75 in quarters. For being so small and light, it feels quite solid to me. It opens smoothly and has no wiggle in the blade when locked open. It looks like it has a (nylon?) washer next to the blade to keep it snug and smooth. Hopefully that will last for a long time because I imagine the blade would wiggle a bit if that wore out. I saw several reviews that said it can't be opened and closed with one hand. I didn't find that to be true. It would be lot lot easier to open 1-handed if they added a thumb stud or extended the back of the blade, but I don't have a lot of trouble with it unless my fingers are slippery. In any case, I find it easy to close with one hand. Not always the case with lock blades. The one problem I have with this knife is the center hole on the side opposite of the clip is large enough to get a fingertip into when digging around in your pocket. It is POSSIBLE to nick your finger on the blade if you're not careful; not too likely, but possible. I find that clipping the knife inside my pocket at the top makes it easier to find and makes it less likely to nick my finger when feeling around in my pocket. I haven't actually cut myself yet, but buyers should be aware of that until Gerber changes the frame design. Overall, this has become my favorite small knife for everyday carry. I also carry the tiny Swiss Army Classic, but this knife is much better for cutting things more substantial than an apple. If you're on the fence, just give it a try (before they realize they could charge a few dollars more.) I'm buying another in case I lose this one.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I don't understand how the knife is rusting for some of the reviewers if it is stainless? Am I missing something?**
A: Do a little research on what defines stainless steel.
A chromium content above 11% is the usual definition. There are plenty of other elements added to stainless steel to improve wear resistance, hardness or toughness. They can have adverse effects on how the chromium binds with carbon in the steel.
Not all stainless steels are the same
H1 and LC200N are probably the most rust resistant stainless steels.
CTS XHP while considered a stainless, is not rust resistant.
Guarantee, the junk steel here is probably 300 or 400 grade and not a specialty stainless by Carpenter, Crucible or Bohler.
You get what you pay for.

**Q: How do you close the knife? Cut my hand trying to do it**
A: You just need to push out the left hand side of the frame on the underside of the knife to unlock the blade. It's stiff (as it should be), but can be done with one hand if careful. (Please see my posted video above)

**Q: is it lockback?**
A: No. It is a locking knife, but not a lockback. "Lockback" means there's a "spring loaded" (torsion bar, actually) locking leaver (rocker bar) located on the spine (back) of the frame which unlocks the blade when pressed. The locking mechanism for this knife is on the side of the frame (it's actually a part of the frame itself), near the pivot (same side as the pocket clip) and must be pulled back to unlock the blade. Since it has no "knob" and does not protrude from the frame, it can be a bit difficult to pull it back (it's very tight). It is very difficult (and not particularly safe) to close this knife with one hand.

**Q: What is the difference between the gerber paraframe 1 and the paraframe 2?**
A: The more expensive one, which I believe is the II is a little larger. Check size specs on their site. Otherwise identical. Pick carefully - moved to the larger one and it does make a difference depending on if carrying in everyday slacks or in work pants.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This knife is a must have for all ladies, it's small and discreet.
*by T***A on March 18, 2026*

I've been looking for a small knife to add to my keychain that wasn't big, bulky, or intimidating. This little Gerber Paraframe Mini is perfect. It is incredibly lightweight—I honestly forget it's there until I need it. The open frame design looks cool, but it also means there's less metal, so it weighs practically nothing. It's been a lifesaver for all those little daily tasks: opening Amazon boxes, cutting twine, slicing an apple at lunch, you name it. The blade is sharp right out of the package and the locking mechanism feels solid and secure, so I'm not worried about it accidentally closing on my fingers. It's not a heavy-duty survival knife, and it's not meant to be. It's the perfect small, reliable blade to have on you when you unexpectedly need one.
