Personna Double Edge Razor Blades, 100 Count

I usually never EVER write reviews but this was a must. So this will be an in depth review to help some guys like myself choose on what to buy. So here we go Background I am a 21 year old jamaican (purely black). I wore facial hair in a thin long connected strip of hair that ran along my jaw line. More hair would grow on my face and neck but it would never grow full and it looked horrible imo. The problem that is associated with black people and black hair is that our hair is curly and when shaven it is fairly easy for razor bumps to grow and It was definitely true with me. I've used multi-blade razors before and even though it left my skin smooth, there irritation was ridiculous and within a day or 2 my face and neck was covered by a mountain range of razor bumps. Very unsightly as a high school and college student ( my hair started growing at 9th grade) I then moved to the hair clippers used in barber shops. Yes it it reduced the amount of razor bumps used but it hurt and to get a close shave u had to go over the area multiple times...make razor bumps. Also it the cost would add up constantly going to a barber every week for a clean shave. So I decided to do some research. I looked into why razor bumps occurred and it made sense. Multiple blades cut hair so low that when it grew out it curled underneath the skin causing an inflammatory response leading to razor bumps. So I looked into double edge razors. I looked into straight edge razors and the process of controlling it seemed too much for me so double edge it was I checked out multiple videos on de razors on youtube. Just type in double edge razor and you get a large amount of videos. The most helpful and thorough was one by this guy with an amazing Scottish accent (the 1st or 2nd video that popped up). Then I saw the full process of shaving and what I've missed all these years. So after checking all the reviews on amazon I first went for the merkur de razor but this one also had excellent reviews and at more than 1/2 the price it was a go for me. Turn on the hot water to steam the bathroom opening pores Wet my face and apply the face scrub thoroughly. Dip the the shaver and brush in warm water Jump in the shower After coming out apply the shea moisture shave cream and get shaving Now when I first started I immediately pressed too hard on my skin and got a cut. In total I got about 3 cuts (not bad for a first timer) When shaving with this you barely feel the blade on your skin. I had to make sure the blade was in. I went over my skin twice even though I thought it would've been too much and I would've gotten razor bumps After shaving clean up with cold water and apply after shave Results: THE CLOSEST SHAVE OF MY LIFE. Literally I couldn't believe how well it worked. The areas shaven was clean of all hair. My face was also baby smooth and soft( I think the cream had alot to do with it). Now it was time to wait for the razor bump test 3rd day after Today is the 3rd day after shaving and not one razor bump has shown it ugly head. I have been so relieved because at this point with any other method it would've arrived already. This is a life changing product for me and I will continue to use it. Also the hair on my face seem to grow much slower than usual. But I'll look forward to shaving again with this. I'll update anything new when occurred. So Ill highly recommend this razor and the other products I mentioned in this lengthy review. I am convinced it will turn a formerly hopeless man into a god lol.

Recently I got very frustrated with shaving. EXTREMELY frustrated, in fact. Over the course of the last several years I have picked up various "razors." All of them were multi-blades. The replacement blade cartridges were extremely expensive, and getting more so. If my wife bought me blades while she was out shopping, she might get the wrong ones. They are so expensive it sometimes made sense to just buy a new handle. But then one has multiple handles floating around the house. If I bought blades again there was a good chance I had a handle that fit them, but sometimes I didn't. The plastic mechanisms that held the razor handles to the blades frequently broke and therefore the entire razor needed replacing. I None of the blades were universal. I felt manufacturers were involved in a scheme to milk me for as much money as possible. I was getting sick and tired of it. Plus, it was ruinous for the environment. Someone mentioned an old school safety razor to me online, and I thought "there's an idea." The first product I looked for was these blades. I saw the cost, read the reviews, and saw they were made in the US. I nearly danced a jig! I buy American whenever I can in the vain attempt to preserve the middle class and our way of life. It's a losing battle, of course. But I'll fight it to the end. I decided I'd make the leap. I found a German made double bladed safety razor at a reasonable price, and bought it and these blades together. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to get the Merkur safety razor together with the blades, but I did it. I began shaving. It took a little getting used to. You have to figure out the angle, and one's approach to shaving changes a bit. This takes a couple of days. HOWEVER, once the process is over you get a significantly closer shave than anything plastic, cheap, and made by slave labor provides. The shave is very close. The blades? They last a week. I spent this much on 5 or 6 plastic multi-blade garbage cartridges. That's about 5 or 6 weeks. These blades will last me years! The cost savings is IMMENSE. The razor itself is metal and durable. My son who is eight could probably inherit it. The blades are cheap. The shave is better. The blades are made in the US. Multiblades are for suckers. I'll never go back.

You can read a gazillion reviews of this razor blade. And most of them will be irrelevant to your experience. They'll say things like, "not as sharp as <insert name here>." Or "the best blade ever." Or "doesn't last as long as <some other blade>." All of which may be true, for somebody. But it's all subjective. For example, a blade may feel sharper because it is. But a razor blade is like any other edged blade -- it is ground at a particular angle. So, how sharp it feels and how well it works depends on how it is held to the face and how much pressure is being exerted. This is where variations in each shaver's technique can make a huge difference in how well a blade works for them. Another obvious factor is variation in the razor itself. For me, the same blade feels entirely different in a modern three piece razor, like an Edwin Jagger DE89, than in a Gillette President or Fat Boy. Look closely at different razors and you'll see how different the angle can be at which they present the blade edge to the face, and how much of the blade edge is exposed. I usually shave with a three piece razor, but sometimes I like to use a mid '50's Gillette Diplomat. The Diplomat doesn't have a steeply curved head like a three piece, so it presents the blade to the face at a more perpendicular angle. As a result, I've learned to hold and use the Diplomat differently to get a good shave. But I've also noticed that it seems to work well with an entirely different selection of blades than the three piece razors. Whether that's because of razor design, blade design, technique, or entirely a figment of my imagination, I can't say. On a related note, blade life is a function of technique, equipment, beard thickness, pre shave prep, and God knows what else. I get about three good shaves out of most modern blades (maybe two with a Feather). Also, blades last for more shaves when I'm shaving daily then when I skip a day and have more beard to get through. So it can be misleading, or irrelevant, to say that "blade X lasts longer than blade Y." To me, what is important isn't how long a blade lasts, but cost per shave. And at 10 or 20 cents a blade, I don't spend much time worrying about it. What's my point in all this? I'm trying to illustrate why a) if you're just starting out wet shaving, you should try different blades yourself rather than accepting reviews at face value; b) you really need to understand how your beard grows and how to use a razor, because good technique is at least as important as good equipment; c) it's critical to understand the relationship between the razor, the blade, and your technique; and d) how most of the criteria you'll see used in reviews are pretty subjective. That said, the Personna Blue is one of my everyday blades. It may work for you, or it may not. But it's made in the US by a company that has been in this business for a long time. They also make precision products such as scalpel blades, which gives me at least a little confidence in their quality control. And the price point is good, so the cost per shave is very competitive, at least for me. Made in the US, decent quality, good price ... if you're a wet shaver, that should make these blades worth a closer look.

I guess you could say I practically collect safety razor blades. I have Sharks, 7 o'clock, Silver Blues, Big Ben, Wilkinson, Nacet, Nacet Platinum, Bic, Merkur, Derby, Astra, and of course Feather Hi-Stainless and Platinum coated blades. With this, I feel I can offer a decent comparison but never let one person's opinion alone dictate what you buy. What works for me, might not work for you. My initial impressions are that I was expecting a blade to offer something like the Astra blades, which are my favorite. Instead, I got a blade that was decent and forgiving but didn't exactly stand out. That isn't to say it's a bad blade. Far from it, but I expected this to be among the best blades and I was left feeling like it was just slightly above average. The image of the blades on Amazon look slightly different. The branding in the stock photo looks very nice but when you open up the box you can see that the blades are branded with a rather worn out stamp in black ink. These worn out stamps just smear the Personna name on the blade and you barely even make out what it spells. I think the blades would look better if they just left their blades unbranded. These blades have no wax dots so that's something. I know some people get annoyed with it gumming up their razor but I've never had much trouble with wax. The blade is forgiving. This is no feather but it's still pretty sharp with the added benefit of showing mercy around my chin area. Astras excel around my chin and Adam's Apple while Feather blades are just looking for a reason to cut me. Given the cost of a 100 pack I would say they're worth it. It's not the sharpest blade nor does it have the durability and superior overall performance of the Astras but it's still quite pleasing. I may have come off as critical but I tried to be as nit-picky as possible so you know what you're buying. You may not care if it's the sharpest or has the best branding. That's fine. Personally I find this blade to be a jack-of-all trades. It's a blade for those who haven't yet gravitated to a particular brand yet that appeals to their niche hair and technique. I think this is the blade that should come standard with all DE razors. It's great for beginners and veterans alike.

The BEST razor blades to date! I have tried most of the major brands of blades: Feather (Japan), Derby (Turkey), Wilkonson Sword (Germany), Polsilver (Polish/Russian), Crystal (Israel). BY FAR the American-made Personnas are the best, the overhyped Ïsraeli Personnas the worse! It is really reassuring that we still know how to make products which are top-notch and at a very reasonable price (here on Amazon.com). The Personnas paired with my Edwin Jagger razor are simply heavenly. I have a very tough beard, so I usually have problems, especially, since I most often shave every two days. My beard does not grow very quickly, but it is tough. Today I did a test ona three day beard. Smooth, close, no nicks, no harshness. What else can I ask for. UPDATE! I have been using these blades for well over 2 months. DEFINITELY the best DE blade! I get far more close and comfortable shave than with Feather brand blades, no nicks or cuts even after 6 shaves (!) which I find amazing (Feather after 3 were terrible). Hey, we sometimes search far and wide, but things at home are best. OK, maybe a Porsche is better than a Corvette (on a German Autobahn at 150 mph IT IS), but these Personnas are simply TOP NOTCH and what is best of all they are MAde in the U.S.A.! What m akes this pie even better is the fact that they are less expensive than all the imports. And they go a L O N G way in terms of the number of excellent shaves. A KEEPER for me. I already bought two 100 packs at Amazon. com (where else)! Take care and good shaving. UPDATE 2! These DE blades are simply astonishing (not to use the term awesome)! I get twice as many nick and cut free, close shaves as I did from Feather and Wilkinson. I am really at awe! And the shaves are much closer, less irritating. Taking into account the price and the fact they are American-made is really highly commendable. It makes me wonder why I searched and suffered for so long. TRY'EM YOU'LL LIKE'EM. I just added more to my cart, since they will be great gifts for my DE shaver friends. BRAVO Personna.

I don't know what marketer cooked up the current standard of disposable razors, but they are surely reserved a warm spot in hell if they are not already well seated there. This is the true, simple, never needed to change, disposable concept that was dethroned by products that haunted my young adult life. I don't know why these fell out of favor in terms of shaving. The only other method I've considered better is a straight razor - I've tried it, but the learning curve is high and it consumes more time for me. A razor with these blades has a learning curve, but insignificant compared to the benefit - it's just a matter of learning the angle. I admit, I was intimidated the first few times I used these; I'll even admit I was so intimidated, I practiced on my legs! I, a dude, first shaved my legs over two days to learn to use these razors - it's good I did! They are sharp - my second day, I took a filet of skin about an inch long before I saw blood. But, I did it once & not on my face! Once I brought it up to my face for a go, I was shaky - it was a ~45m shave...but after a week or so, I was confident enough to compete with standard shaving time. I am proficient enough now after a year & a half, it takes very little time to manipulate these blades & come out with the perfect shave every time. They are so low in cost, every time I shave it's a new blade - & that one blade gives a closer shave than the current x8 or x9 blades per disposable plastic razor. These go in shavers designed to easily rinse stubble, so a blade being blocked just doesn't happen. And this is far and away much more sanitary - I never have breakouts after shaving; this was a constant theme with plastic disposable razors. And I've even shaved with these using just water as lubricant - the standard is shaving gel, sometimes even soap is sufficient. I rarely get cuts, but a styptic pen is the easiest solution. Shaving used to be a dread & expensive; these razors have made shaving every day for less than $2-3 a month a reality; instead of $25-30 a month. Try these with a decent design of shaver; you will not be dissatisfied.

I've previously used Astra blades and had good luck with those, but wanted to see if I could find a decent blade that was made closer to home (Astras are made in Russia). I came across these American-made blades and thought I'd give them a try, even though they're ~50% more expensive than the Astras. I would say that these blades are just as good as the Astra blades...like those I can go 4-5 shaves before replacing a blade. These might be just a BIT less sharp than the Astras, but it's a virtually negligible difference that I only notice on the first shave. Update 1/29/2020: I'm astonished how many negative reviews claim these blades are counterfeit because the box doesn't look right and the writing on the blade is smudged. The box clearly states these are made by Accutec Blades, Personna's new parent company. If you go to their website it clearly shows the blades being sold in this new white box. Maybe Accutec altered production methods and the blades aren't as good as before, but they work just fine for me. Update 12/2020: I'm nearly at the end of my "white box" of American-made Personna blades and ordered a "blue box" of Personna blades, which seems to be what's available right now. I'm seeing a lot of complaints about these so I thought I'd share my own experience with them vs. the "white box" blades. The "white box" Personna blades are made in the US. They're wrapped in a paper sleeve with a dot of weak adhesive between two of the flaps of the wrapper. The logo on them is printed but smudged. On a scale accurate to 0.1g, these blades weight 0.5g. I normally get 5 good shaves from these blades before I need to think about replacing them. These "blue box" Personna blades are made in Germany. They're wrapped in a wax paper sleeve that adheres to itself and the blade like a very weak Post-It Note. There are three tiny dots of adhesive residue on the blade itself but they're towards the center of the blade, well away from the cutting edges, and are a non-issue. The logo on them appears to be printed or laser-etched and is clear and legible. On the same scale these blades also weigh 0.5g, so they're the same thickness as the US-made blades. With these blades, I have pretty much the same exact shaving experience as with the white box blades...5 perfectly good shaves before I need to think about replacing the blade. So if you're a user of the white box blades, should you buy these? I see no reason not to....they're about the same price and at least in my experience you get the same performance out of them. Sure I'd prefer US-made blades, but if those are currently unavailable for whatever reason, these work fine. Update: 9/15/2025: Ran out of the German made blades, latest 100-pack is marked made in USA, blades are wrapped in white paper, and blades themselves are unmarked. Seem to shave as well as past Personna blades I've bought so I doubt they're cheap counterfeits.

These blades were a decent value buy. I purchased these with my new safety razor as the cost was low and I wasn't too committed to the safety razor yet. The blades work well, but there are some noticeable downsides when comparing to sightly higher quality blades. For example: - I found myself having to re-shave a few areas and also nicked myself a few times. I found that since the blades were not sharp enough, I wasn't getting as close of a shave and also resulted in some nicks. After switching to the Feather brand blades, I found I was getting a smoother shave with less nicks. - There were also small imperfections on the blades (barely noticeable) as compared to the Feather blades. I will try to take a photo of this, but in my opinion it affects the quality of the shave. - There is a lack of consistency in the product; meaning from blade blade there are some noticeable differences. This does not affect the overall shaving experience, but in my opinion is an indication of quality control and product consistency, which would imply a less than optimal production process... Yes, I am over thinking this point but for those who care about quality... Overall, if you're concerned about cost go with these blades as they are really not bad, just not the best. 100 blades at this price can last you a long time! But if you are going for quality, consider the Feather brand blades.

The blade is very smooth, one of the smoothes yet shape. It did not give me any cuts or nicks, I used alum block to check at end. It is American made and the quality of blade is right there with German Merkur blades. Much much better than Parker, Russian or south asian or Egyptian blades . Next to Merkur this is my new favorite blade, Merkur is 3 times as expensive so this is a good deal!

Ah... These blades are wonderful ! Just switched over from Gillette Mach 3 Turbo to Double Edge Razors... Using it with Feather Razor (made in Japan), and these blades are a pleasure to shave with... Do note, the packing is a bit different than the photos, but dont worry... the seller is genuine and so is the product... Excellent Buy !!!!

Si può dire in due parole: lamette perfette, Queste sono le vere Personna Made in USA; le altre vengono prodotte in Germania, prima ancora in Israele. A differenza di quelle europee, sono molto precise e durevoli. Ho voluto fare una prova di durata e sono riuscito ad arrivare a 5 rasature per lato, cosa impossibile anche con le KAI, con le quali la terza rasatura già era molto meno confortevole. Se si trovano a meno di 20 Euro per 100 pezzi, sono assolutamente convenienti (più delle costose KAI; volendo fare un paragone con altro marchio d'eccellenza). Comunque anche a 28/30 Euro continuano a convenire, a patto che le si usino per più rasature. Col tempo ho preso l'abitudine, con la maggior parte di lame economiche, fatta eccezione per BIC ed Astra verdi, di fare una sola rasatura per lato o soltanto una rasatura per lametta: ma qui l'eccezione è più che consentita.
