I use this for back up self-defense. The material seems indestructible and hard. I've only had to use it once and it was effective. Small and light enough to fit in my Camelbak carrier - long enough to give you the extra reach you need. Maybe could be lighter - but I guess it depends what you plan to use it for.I wish they had a 4-pack deal when I purchased this originally. Would buy again, would recommend.

I bought this a couple months back when I took up a closing shift in the middle of downtown. While I'm familiar with the area and am certain I can hold my own, I was startled enough on my 20 minute walk home after one late shift to reconsider my mindset. I'm not taking any chances and invested in a small bat to keep in my bag. Best decision ever!My tote is big enough to conceal it (sometimes the handle peeks out) and I can wield it in record time if I'm spooked or suspicious. While I can throw one heck of a left hook, I doubt it'd rival any damage this bat could do, and it's mere presence usually deters people from hovering too close as I scurry home.It's a huge confidence boost and a great sense of security. I have it wedged between my nightstand and bed at night should anyone try to bust into my apartment, too. I highly recommend anyone to get one, too. Great price, size, and longevity!!

This is a formidable weapon. It’s 19¾” long and weighs 19.25oz (or 1.2 lbs). If you’ve ever gone for pre-dawn walks and been suddenly charged by an unleashed dog, or a javelina, I can assure you that by having this little bat ready in hand you will need never fear being so charged ever again. It is significantly more powerful as a defensive club than would be a policeman’s baton of the same length. The bat material is so dense that it feels as if it has had a solid lead bar inserted into 5 inches of the business end. It can result in severe blunt force trauma, and if swung very hard I believe it could crush a dog’s skull, so please be very cautious.

I’m rating this 5 stars because of the quality of the product, but it doesn’t work for me because it’s more of a billy club than a bat. You need to be very close to whatever you hit with this length. I bought it to leave by the door in case a raccoon attacked my puppy, but I don’t want to be that close to the raccoon. Longer than a true billy club, much shorter than a bat - I’m sure it will work for something, and although it’s plastic, it’s a VERY dense plastic with enough heaviness to deliver a substantial blow. In that regard, you’d do more damage with this than with a wooden bat.

This bat is a great compact self-defense tool, the only negative reviews I saw were the handle being to thin and hard to grip for those with larger hands. There is a simple solution to this which I implemented myself. Buy some good quality duct tape (ie. Gorilla tape) and wrap the handle as many times as necessary until the desired thickness is acquired, this also helps with grip in case hands are sweaty so it doesn't slip. Problem solved. I bought this bat as a supplement to the pepper spray that I already carry. If both of those fail or don't get the job done I'll just grab my full size s&w 9mil. You definitely can't go wrong with this and I plan to buy my niece one to keep in her car.
