It's cute
I found this little grill more trouble than it's worth but it does work. First, it's quite small. I tried to grill 2 sliced zucchini and could only fit 3 of 4 halves. Second, everything needs to be the same thickness so the plates can apply pressure equally. Third, various items cook art very different rates, and I found I had to us the thing twice to "assemble" the meal. Fourth, Lukue is based in Spain, and the instructions are similar to those that come with Ikea furniture. Fifth, as you would expect, the grill gets very hot, and you have to handle the hot plates at least twice, once after preheating and again when it's time to flip the food. Sixth, even though I wiped the grill with olive oil prior to using, it was still a chore to clean, even after the first use. There are little nooks near the handles where burnt food gets trapped. But other than these minor quibbles, it worked well and the stuff I made tasted great.

Works as advertised with a few pitfalls
This microwave grill is really good. It works great, cleans up perfectly in the dishwasher. I've had the best success with grilled asparagus and marinated vegetables for fajitas. There are a few downsides. This can't really make a serving large enough for 2 or more people. The rubber bands that hold it together are separate items and easily lost. I did have some problems of liquid coming out during turning. I'd probably give it 3 stars, but I had the best Reuben sandwich (shown) ever so I bumped it up to 4 stars. Be aware that most grilling recipes over salt things because a lot of seasoning is lost in typical grilling, that won't be the case with this. Update to review: My microwave died while using the product related to failure of the magnetron (Panasonic H97). What this the cause? I'm not sure, though I will NOT be using it in my new microwave. Please note I always lowered the energy to 70% of 1200 watts to comply with the instructions.

Works great!
Like their other products, the Lekue Microwave Grill, Sandwich Maker works as advertised. It is easy to use and does an excellent job. Be sure to preheat the unit for a couple of minutes in the microwave before using. This is key to the product working as advertised. Of course, the power of the microwave being used is also a factor. I am using a 1000 watt LG microwave. So 2 minutes of preheating works well for me. It is dishwasher safe and is very easy to use. At times it is a challenge to get the rubber straps fastened when they are hot. A minor issue and I don't know how I would change anything. Maybe use some tongs of some sort or maybe cloth gloves. I am extremely pleased with the Lekue Microwave Grill, Sandwich Maker. I would recommend it to everyone who has a microwave in the kitchen, room, or dorm

Stop reading the reviews and just buy this
I LOVE this thing! I would give it higher than 5 stars if I could. Yes, it's super dangerous -- * the plates get HOT and even the silicon edges can get too hot to touch * there are many warnings about microwave power levels (you'll need to know the power level of your microwave and how to get it to output 900W. My microwave is 1000W, so power level "9" gets me the right wattage. Looking at the top microwave ovens on Amazon, I see 1 with 1100W and 2 that are 700W. I have no idea what to do with the last 2!) So far we've cooked: * Grilled cheese * Salmon filet * Brussels sprouts * Portobello mushroom caps everything turned out delicious and fast! Generally, you preheat the plates for 3 minutes in the microwave, then immediately add the food and and cook for 2-5 minutes. Usually, the food comes out in half the time as using our grill or toaster with a good char on it. Is it as delicious as using a grill? Usually not quite, but it's really close. Success appears to come with: * making sure the food isn't going to release more grease than the grooves can hold (maybe a plate underneath could help? That could throw off the timing though) * Make sure the plates do not cool down much after pre-heating before cooking again * You only get one chance -- don't try to put it in "for more time." Some recipes call for an interrupted cook but generally the cool down is too fast and the char won't work * "balanced" food. If the top plate is not securely touching the food, or if the food slides out the side, this won't work. * Make sure the food is covered by the plates completely. You don't want any sticking out the side. (I suspect that the microwaves aren't really hitting the food at all, so anything sticking out the side will get zapped instead of heated by the plates.) * The bands holding the two plates together are a key part of the system. You want it to squeeze the food closed to ensure the hot plates are pressed against the food. The bands also act as a grill press. Two last things to notice: * these plates are SUPER easy to clean. Even running water on them has removed everything burnt on. But they're also dishwasher safe, AND they fit nicely on the top rack! * I lost one of the bands at one point. The seller sent me a new band for free! ++ GREAT service.

Pretty cool invention for the last bachelor!
This grill is pretty cool! I’ve used it to cook several things. I was skeptical at first but it has impressed me. I’ve cooked raw brats and burgers and it did really well. It’s good for one person because you can’t overload it. Today I’m going to cook a ribeye on it and am confident it’ll be good. I’ve also done shrimp and roasted vegetables in it! Super easy to use and clean. Update: I use this thing almost everyday! I’m going to order another one! It simplifies so much of what I eat! I did a filet last night! It was perfect! Who would think you could microwave a fillet mignon? lol! I love it when thing’s I’m not sure about actually work so well!

Cannot be used in all microwaves.
I tried to make a grilled cheese in my microwave with this and I had sparks flying. Maybe my microwave had too high of wattage, but, obviously, I could not use this item.
