How best to describe this movie???Is it a off-shoot of The Burbs, American Psycho maybe? A spin-off of The Stepford Wives?Picked this up because I know Higel can be amusing as much as she is lovely. Looking at the reviews on Amazon, this has to be one of those misunderstood off the wall dark comedies, but what I got out of this is that the movie is a troupe of the stereotypical American family, because the wives control the husbands instead of the husband being the man of the house. Patrick and Katy gel together, but they don't, and that's the point. You get half way through the movie, and sure seemed to me like we got the female version of Dexter, yet if I was the one pulling the strings behind the camera, I would've told Katherine that if she really wanted to pull this one off properly, try to be a little sweeter on handling everyone else, save Patrick's character. That would've been the complete icing on the cake.

Although Katherine Heigl's character was interesting, I am so disappointed that she was in such a trashy movie. It is NASTY! The language is horrible, it's gory, it is just a disgusting movie. Sadly, like so many movies these days, if they would just have cleaned it up, it could have been cute but they had to mix the fun and quirky with the low and degenerate.

I honestly love Katherine Heighl's movies. I found her crazy stepford wife character really funny. This movie was crazy to me and minus the 2 stars for the ending. They showed this movie from the husband's perspective but how I saw it, girl (Jordana Brewster) gets a job at a furniture store, but it turns out her boyfriend made her seduce, have an affair and then con her married boss by faking a pregnancy. Then she tried to extort money out of him and because his crazy stepford wife would only have sex with him 6 times a year and they had to schedule this on her calendar, that left him vulnerable and marked as an easy target. What I didn't like about the ending is learning that the crazy boyfriend arranged all of this to get money and then he felt compelled to get revenge when pimping his gf turned into an epic fail after she was murdered. I didn't mind the husband getting out of his marriage, very creative! But the evil boyfriend's revenge and getting away with it was stupid at the end. Poor kids! lol

I cannot imagine any modern actress reading this script and saying, "I have to do this". It is such a dark role that many people would shy away, fearing it would ruin their career. Other actresses might choose to put on tights and pick up a Marvel script. Katharine Heigl, whom I consider a great comedic actress, choosing this role, well, she is earning no woke points. This is an extraordinary demonstration that she is not a great comedic actress. She's a great actress. She hits this out of the park.

Funny film, a bit rude in places but as usual Katherine Heigl is great and Patrick Wilson is funny too. Good film.

So. The one reason to watch this.Yep. She's a bitch in this one.Not only THAT, she is a killer. And it suits her. Like, perfectly.The movie is about a 3 out of 5 as a whole, but with her being so believably off her nut, it pushes this to a 4 1/2 in my book.Yes, I definitely recommend this one.I'm guessing her terrible reputation is the only reason this didn't get a wide release. Not surprising, but the movie is definitely worth your time, and the asking price, here.
